Greetings from Findlay Creek Soap Company. I make handmade vegan soap and other bath and beauty products, using hemp oil and other skin loving ingredients.
I started Findlay Creek Soap Company in May 2022. I love making handmade soap! The colours and scents are amazing and endlessly creative. Even better is the satisfaction of having a consumable (not to mention calorie-free) product to enjoy. Since my first melt-and-pour soap design many years ago, I have also experimented with making bath bombs, bubble bath, lotions, and lip balms. It is incredibly satisfying! Most of all, I love knowing exactly what is in my products and where they are made.
Whether you are a fellow maker, consumer, or are just mesmerized by the process, I warmly welcome you to my channel!

I've been watching soap making videos by Brambleberry long before I started making cold process soap, so I was so excited to finally try some of their fragrance oils! This soap is made with Freesia Bubble Bath, which smells incredible, and since it was described as accelerating in cold process soap, I thought this would be a great fragrance to create a layered design. But yet again, my impatien...

So pretty!
what is the lye percentage or water amount (35%) you used ? I been wanting to try calamine soap.
2 parts coconut milk to 1part lye you can put in everything exactly on soap calculator and it will tell you oil batch size and everything
New to you channel, loved the video, and those swirls are amazing just loved it. Thanks for sharing
Wow it turned out beautifully!
what are those seedds you sprinkled on top?
I like your videos with narration
Just curious about your sample size for fragrance test. Thanks. Lovely soap
Thanks for posting. I want to check out the blog post for info on your choices. Hemp oil certainly changes tge base color doesn't it
Beautiful indeed, you made it look so simple and swift! That’s the beauty of a great tute. Looking for more of your videos!
How much water with the lye? Beautiful soap, I really want to make it but as I was writing it out and making my calculations for a 2 pound loaf I realized I didn’t have this number. Admittedly I might not know how to figure it out.
You can use soap calculator to figure it out. I'm from Malaysia, I use SoapLab Malaysia Soap Calculator, that write everything in gram. You may to try Brambleeberry Soap Calculator.
I also have the same question.
Gorgeous soap
I use milk powders and blend into the oils before adding to lye. I’m never organised enough to pre freeze lol Do you take the purée weight out of the water/milk weight for the lye please?
I usually have a stash of frozen milks that my family complains is taking up too much space in our freezer! 😂 You can use a water discount to make up for the water in the pumpkin, but I didn’t bother. I used a 1.75-2:1 milk/lye ratio. To prevent overheating from the extra water, I kept the temperature of the oils and lye solution low (around 85F) and put it in the freezer or fridge to saponify. If you are concerned about overheating, I would recommend it. Better safe than sorry!
Luxurious looking batter, going to try this with a different fragrance (tea tree allergy 😥)
😡 Promo*SM
These are gorgeous. It was fun to watch the process and see how lovely soap like this comes together.
Wow! Look at these absolutely perfect layers. You did beautiful work here.
Awesome short !
Thanks!!! 😊
The soap looks lovely. I would love some like that
Thanks! 😊
Could you do a soap cutting asmr of these blocks without any music?
That is a cool idea - I've had the same thought, but usually after I have recorded with music playing or kids arguing off camera. One of these days... 🤦♀️
Beautiful soap !
Thank you! 😊
Measurements?
You can find them in the blog post from Humblebee & Me, linked in the description box 🙂
@@findlaycreeksoapcompany thanks
Lovely soap
Thank you!!! 😊
Beautiful soap, love it. What do you think mixing with the palette knife helps with the mica’s mixing? I’m not knocking it, just don’t understand. Keep making your great video’s! Hugz, Tree
Great question! Using the palette knife helps me feel confident that there are no tiny clumps of colourant when I mix them with the oils. I don’t find micas to be too clumpy, but I’ve had specks of Titanium Dioxide left behind in soaps before when I would only use a mini mixer (maybe because my mixer was not up to the task). Added bonus is that I find smooshing the colours to be very relaxing! ☺️
Recipie?
I will have a full “making of” video out on Friday, July 14, 2023 including recipe and supplies info. ☺️
@@findlaycreeksoapcompany OK 😊
Waite what is THIS MAGIC? MY ombre had my hair on fire today holy crap lol I had fun
OH thats so cool im kinda sick of all the pours i do. Im trying this ASAP. Hmmmm which fragrance will behave 😂😂😂
That’s always the question! 🤞🙏😂
I'm going with lilac n purple AS WE SPEAK
Also saving some dark to play with the top for a simple little swirlie n fairy dust 😂
Sounds amazing! Good luck!!!
Dang it my titanium weighed down.
I do an ombré when dying fabric, and I use weight as my measure. Figuring out how many sections I want. And about halfway thru I lower my angle. And about 3/4 way thru, lowered it again. Then went flat. And the white specks look planned, so just say”I meant it that way!”
That sounds so cool! 🤩
Very pretty! When you are mixing the micas, what oil are you using and does it play into your soap oil calculations?
Thanks! To mix my colours, I will either use some of the melted oils/butters from my batch or extra olive oil. I don’t make any adjustments to the calculations - it’s not much extra so it is just added to the super fat of the batch
Hi. Love your video. Any advice on how to convert the ingredient percentages to grams. Thanks
Thanks! For soap, I use a soap calculator like soapcalc.net. You can enter your recipe as percentages, set your batch size and lye concentration and the calculator will give you the weights of all the oils, water (or other liquid) and lye you need. Good luck! ☺️
Thank you. 💋❣️💕💞💓💗💖💝🍹🥃🍷🍾🍻🍺🍸🥂💐🌹🌺🌷🏵️🙏🏽✌🏽👍🏽👋🏽
Loved that ❤
Thanks! ☺️
Charcoal and teatree such a wonderful combination..job well done..
Thanks so much!
I didn't quiet get the design.. Meaning.. How you moved the hanger in the soap batter.. Is it "O" Shape swirl
Really really nice. Thanks for sharing. I’m on the edge of starting but I’m afraid to fail. But yeah… that part of life. I have to order almost everything from abroad ( where i live there isn’t so much option)so that’s why i’m a bit afraid to fail and throw money away etc.
Go for it! I was nervous too and had watched soapmaking videos on CZcams for YEARS before I made my first batch! And I've learned way more from my failed batches than the ones that worked, so have patience and grace ❤️
Perfect swirl and peeks!!! Lovely colors!!! ❤
Thank you! 😊
beautiful! May i ask you where do you buy your pink kaolin clay?
I'm in Canada - I think I purchased it from Candora Soap Supplies, but many of the popular suppliers in Canada and the USA have it available. It's really lovely!
@@findlaycreeksoapcompany Thank you!!
Beautiful soap,love the colors
Thank you so much!
Really beautiful 😍
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful✨❤.. How did you swirl.. What's the technique
Thanks! I did a hanger swirl with a tool I made using wire and silicone tubing
I mean.. How you did the hanger swirl? You did" O "shape.. how you did the hanger swirl for the design.. Didn't get
Beautiful! I love lemongrass one of my favourites ❤
Thanks! Me too! :)
I don’t have hempseed oil.what should I use to replace it with?
There are lots of great oils to choose from, depending on the qualities/properties you are looking for in your lotion. Avocado would be a nice substitute. New Direction Aromatics has a lot of great info about carrier oils on their website - that is my go to place when looking for a substitute. Good luck!
Nice 😊
Thanks 😊
New subbie here! This was great. Hugz, Tree
Awesome! Thank you!
Very nice💖
Thanks 🤗
tyvm beautiful.
Thank you! 😊
Hi though the colours looked really nice but personal opinion swirls could have been better. My own experience with slightly quickly moving batter is to do spoon swirl, it comes out really nice. The trick is not to mix the colours. Soaping 101 has a very nice video on that.
That’s a really cool idea! Thanks for sharing! 😊
So pretty! The trace was perfect for swirls
Thanks! I just made a larger batch (x3) and found that it accelerated more that time, so I'm not 100% sold on this fragrance oil yet. Still smells amazing though!
Lovely swirls.
Thank you! 😊
Wow what a beauty, plan to try this colour combo but with kaolin clay for white, ultramarine purple for purple mica and green iron oxide for sage green mica.
Oh, that would be amazing! 🤩
J adore superbe
Merci beaucoup! 😊
