People that say they understand Andy Kaufman don't understand Andy. The thing is nobody understood him. Letterman knew it best. Letterman never knew what would happen, he never knew if it was an act or if it was real but Letterman loved it because it was so weird and different. You practice your tv craft for 50 years, and here comes Andy Kaufman breaking every rule and still succeeding. Jim Carey figured he understood how to play Andy and that's why he failed. Nobody knew what Andy really thought. That was the point. Blurring the line between kayfabe and reality.

This one scene had me remembering when I saw Peter Pan for the first time, it actually had that exact intro. I remember thinking “Is he talking to me?” It made me feel special.
