Mrs Astor was most likely right on what was proper there is nothing wrong with her being rigid. Not sure why she detested individuals from railroad money. Mrs Astor was a contender not to be dismissed.

I know all of these areas and live in Saratoga. Skaneateles is pretty, but is very tiny. 1 light tiny. 1 street tiny. Go 1 mile in any direction and there is nothing. Niskayuna is a dump. I drive through it all the time. Syracuse is central NY and Rochester is Western NY. Neither are upstate.

I lived in Newport, RI during the mid 1970’s and seen many of the mansions via school trips! As much as I loved the Breakers, I still love Biltmore even more to this day! I’m only about a little over an hour from Asheville down in South Carolina! Ya’ll come see us! ❤

If I quit my job, then I would pay myself the same salary I was making prior to winning the lottery and just give myself a 2% COLA raise in January. And I would have to live within those means.

I would set up a foundation with a $2m budget and anyone who comes to you asking for money or for you to invest in their business or whatever, they would have to apply through the foundation. Have the foundation board be made up of money managers, business people, and a sibling or two (odd number of board members so you can reach a majority) and you would review and vote whether to advance that person any money. That way, you’re not the bad guy but you’re not making it easy for the free loaders to try and get some of your wealth.

I would also take a picture of the front and back of the lottery ticket, after I signed it and before I put it in a safe deposit box. Just in case something happens to the bank or the ticket. Even though it has my signature, I have a picture of the front and back and time stamped on the picture.

Don't overlook Norwich on State Route 12, north of Binghamton and south of Syracuse. It has a charming downtown and a wonderful new Historic district including the Railroad Museum, the Chenango County Historical Museum and the real gem, the Northeast Classic Car Museum which has just completed a multi-million dollar update with a facade that looks like a 1960's era new car dealership...really wonderful.

#7 Mansion - nevermind building the Mansion in 1907 but the fact that it was actually 'moved' from Washington to Newport is unimaginable. All these Mansions are absolutely stunning and the craftsmanship that's gone into them is absolutely incredible.
