    HOW TO RESET IF ITS A COMPANY OWN??

    • @JasonBagnell
      @JasonBagnell Před 17 hodinami

      Hi! I think you must be logged in under and account that has administrative rights before you'll be able to run the "Reset this PC" program. If your account doesn't, see if someone from the company can help you. If you own the computer and no one is available that can help, you can do one of two things: 1) Choose to perform a Windows 10/11 Clean Install, which erases everything on the drive and installs Windows from scratch. I made two videos describing the process here: Windows 10: czcams.com/video/bP03Y-l9NOM/video.html For Windows 11: czcams.com/video/ZMKl9wBJYD0/video.html 2) There is a more advanced method that has you boot to the Windows Recovery Console to make changes to the utilman.exe and cmd.exe files. The next time Windows is booted, it will allow you to access a command prompt window that has full administrative rights. In that window, two commands can be entered that will add a new user account to the PC and set it to be an administrator. The next time the PC is rebooted, you will be able to log into new account and you'll have full access to the system. This method is more complicated and you'll need more detailed instructions to proceed. Let me know if that is something you're interested in. Option 1 might be easier if you're not familiar with the Windows Recovery Environment, the command prompt window and entering commands. Thanks -- Jason

    So i just want to make sure im fine before i try to mess with my laptop further. My laptop came with windows 10 home in s mode. Eventually i did upgrade it to windows 11. A couple months back a lot of things happened which lead me to believe my ssd failed. So when i formatted a drive to boot from when i went to the windows website at the time the only one i saw i could download was windows 11. Also im aware that if you bought a laptop with windows built-in it automatically detects it so im just making sure that when i get a new ssd and when i format it downloading windows 11 wont be a issue. Simply im just wondering does it have to match up to the base windows that the device came with or does it not matter?

      Hi! It will work fine if you load Windows 11 onto the new SSD drive, even if the computer originally came with Windows 10. The licenses are interchangeable. Just make sure you select the correct edition, i.e. Windows Home or Windows Pro. Here is a link to my Windows 11 Clean Install video if you need it: czcams.com/video/ZMKl9wBJYD0/video.html Thanks -- Jason

    • @JasonBagnell
      @JasonBagnell Před 16 hodinami

      Hi! Are you able to eventually get the PC booted back to the Windows Desktop? If so, running the DISM command might repair any damaged operating system files that may be causing the problem. Click the Windows Start Button and type CMD.EXE (don't press enter yet), then right click on "Command Prompt" and choose "Run as administrator". The command prompt window will open. To have Windows check the health of the drive and file system, type the following command and press Enter: CHKDSK C: /F Reboot the PC and then open another "Administrative Command Prompt", like I mentioned above. Type the following command and press enter: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth Reboot again and then see if the "Reset this PC" program is able to finish without the black-screen issue. Leave a comment here with the results because other people may be experiencing the same issue. Thanks!! -- Jason

    • @JasonBagnell
      @JasonBagnell Před 4 dny

      Hi! The PC might have a hardware related issue or you might need to run "CHKDSK C: /F" to correct the file system on the drive. There are other possibilities, like running the DISM program to have Windows restore/repair any damaged operating system files, etc. I have another video that shows how to remove all of the data partitions from the drive and perform a "Clean Install" of the Windows 10/11 operating system. You might want to consider doing that, provided that the problem is not a hardware-related issue. For Windows 10: czcams.com/video/bP03Y-l9NOM/video.html For Windows 11: czcams.com/video/ZMKl9wBJYD0/video.html Feel free to write back with any questions you might have. Thanks -- Jason

    If i do that and i had a virus would it get rid of it?

    • @JasonBagnell
      @JasonBagnell Před 4 dny

      Yes, the "Reset this PC" program should be effective in clearing viruses from the PC. If you use the "Keep my Files" option, it is possible that a virus-infected file might remain in the data that is kept from the previous installation. The "Remove everything" option would prevent that from happening so make sure you have a backup copy of anything you want to keep before using that option. Have a great day -- Jason :)

      @@JasonBagnell Is it normal for when i do reset my pc i dont have windows defender it just says your IT or admin disabled it

    • @JasonBagnell
      @JasonBagnell Před 3 dny

      Hi, that doesn't sound normal. Everything should be running in a freshly reloaded state after the reset procedure is finished. Try allowing all pending Windows Updates to install and then reboot the PC to see if Windows Defender becomes available again. If it doesn't, you could try running the "Reset this PC" program again, but don't bother using the "Clean data: Yes" setting. This second "Reset" might be required if a virus was causing problems like you mentioned. Worst case, you can perform a "Clean Install" of the Windows 10/11 operating system. I made videos about how to do it here: For Windows 10: czcams.com/video/bP03Y-l9NOM/video.html For Windows 11: czcams.com/video/ZMKl9wBJYD0/video.html In those videos, I show how to remove ALL of the partitions from the hard drive. Windows Setup will create any new partitions it requires and the installation will continue to install a perfectly fresh/clean version of the operating system. I don't see how a virus would survive after all of the hard drive's data partitions are erased. Make sure you back up any data/files you want to keep before deleting the partitions. I hope this helps! -- Jason

      I've noticed that too. When Intel & AMD release new, faster, more powerful processors, Microsoft continues writing inefficient programs that gobble up all of the extra processing power. • @JasonBagnell
      @JasonBagnell Před 4 dny

      Hi! I made another video where I showed the procedure for having the program wipe ALL (multiple) hard drives that are installed in the same system. See: czcams.com/video/7ceHpGlhp9E/video.html Yes, if you use the "Clean data: Yes" option, all of the data on the PC's mechanical hard drive and on any SSD will be overwritten. There is very TINY chance that the overprovisioned areas of a SSD drive might not get overwritten during the process but the risk is minimal and very unlikely to put you at risk. I hope this helps! -- Jason

      Yes, several new videos have been posted by other creators recently. Search CZcams for "bypass Microsoft account Windows 11" and take a look at any videos posted in the last month. Hopefully one of those videos will give you a solution. Most people have success with the methods I listed but newer releases of Windows sometimes prevent my "tricks" from working. You're welcome! I always recommend running the "Reset this PC" program using the "Clean data: Yes" option when you are going to turn your PC over to an unknown buyer. If you don't, someone could use a program like Recuva, Disk Drill (or similar) to recover the files that have been "Deleted" off of the hard drive. Even data from partitions that have been "quick formatted" can be recovered. Have a great day -- Jason :)

    Thank you for such a clear, concise video. I have Outlook 365 version 2405. I ran the Outlook import/export to create the backup pst file. It seemed to work (file size looked good). When I open the file in Outlook none of the emails are viewable “we didn’t find anything to show here”. The “keep mail offline” slider was set to ALL (and many of the emails are only days and weeks old). The filter is off in current view settings. When I check the properties of the Outlook Data File in Outlook the size and number of emails (and unread emails) and folders is correct (same as the copied data).

      I am now able to see the emails. My account is IMAP, I found the following in MS Support. When you export email from an IMAP account in Outlook to a .pst file, you may not see the messages after you import the file back into Outlook. Note: The email messages aren't lost, but they are hidden from view. To fix this issue, use the following steps: 1. From your Outlook inbox, select View > Change View. 2. Select the IMAP Messages folder.

      @kathywilson2823 Hi Kathy, thanks for your comment! You found the solution before I got a chance to write back. I’m glad everything exported properly and is visible in the new (exported) PST file. I use the Outlook Export feature to backup my entire mailbox 1-2 times per year just in case I need to go back in time to get something I deleted. Have a great day! - Jason

      @@JasonBagnell Cox, my forever email provider is no longer providing email. I have been swamped trying to pick another provider and get my emails moved before I lost access to my Cox account (which unknown to me happened last night!). I'd imported them to Gmail last week, but I hate using the web mail interfaces and have always use Outlook to do email. I was, and still am afraid that the Cox emails will be deleted somehow from my laptop when Cox shuts down my account. Hopefully they are safe now on this backup file. I will use the Outlook Export as you do to back up the new Gmail account in the future. Thank you.

    When exactly should I remove the Internet?

    • @JasonBagnell
      @JasonBagnell Před 5 dny

      Hi! You can remove the network cable when the Windows Setup program asks for the Region/Country and Keyboard layout. Don't join a WiFi network either (if prompted). If the Windows setup program realizes that an Internet connection is not present, it will -sometimes- display the "Continue with a limited setup", which will let you skip joining the PC to a Microsoft account. I made another video about how to get the Windows Setup program to skip the Microsoft account requirement, if you get stuck. See: czcams.com/video/UdyP_bHSUlE/video.html Thanks -- Jason

      Thank you!! When I started my CZcams channel, I posted videos on all kinds of different topics, like scuba diving, fishing, hiking, computers, etc. I've been an "I.T. guy" for over 30 years and I found that whenever I posted computer related videos, they did better than all the reset. I started "niching down" to only posting computer related videos and the CZcams algorithm took notice and started promoting me like crazy! So that's what my channel has evolved into. Thanks for your support and I too look forward to the day I hit 10K subscribers! Cheers -- Jason :) SocialBlade.com Link: socialblade.com/youtube/c/jasonbagnell

      @@JasonBagnell Watched is that basically formatting the drive I elieve I have a bot I can't get rid of?

    • @JasonBagnell
      @JasonBagnell Před 8 dny

      The video I made about using the "Reset this PC" should get rid of any malware, spyware, viruses and bad programs and software. If you select the "Clean data: Yes" option, it will secure-erase (overwrite) all unused portions of the hard drive, which takes a long time. If your PC has more than one hard drive or data partition, I made another video that shows where to make the "Resets this PC" program erase ALL hard drives (and partitions) instead of just the Windows partition. See: czcams.com/video/7ceHpGlhp9E/video.html Make sure that you DO NOT need any data that is on the drive(s) because the procedure in that video will erase everything. If the "bot" remains on the computer after that, your PC might have a "BIOS" or "Firmware" virus, but those are much less common. You could try going to the PC/motherboard manufacturer's website and download/install the latest BIOS update for your PC's motherboard and that might purge out the bug. Also you might want to make sure that no other USB drives or flash drives are connected to your computer. The bug might be hiding on one of those. A great program I've used to get rid of VERY difficult viruses is: HitMan Pro: www.hitmanpro.com/en-us/downloads You can run it in the one-time FREE mode and it will identify what might be causing the problem and where the problematic program is being stored. Good luck with everything! -- Jason

    • @JasonBagnell
      @JasonBagnell Před 8 dny

      Hi! If the Shift-F10 / BYPASNRO trick didn't work and signing into the Microsoft account as "no@thankyou.com" didn't work, you might need to just create a temporary E-Mail address (on GMail or Outlook.com) to be able to proceed with the installation. I've had to do that on some Microsoft Surface tablets/laptops and on ALL computers that come from the store running in Windows S-Mode. I tried for 2 hours once to bypass the requirements but it wouldn't let me. Once the PC is connected to the new temporary Microsoft account, you can go to "Other Users" in settings and click the "Add account" button. Then click "I don't have this person's sign-in information", followed by "Add a user without a Microsoft account". Type a name for the new user account and then click the down arrow and change the "Account Type" to Administrator. Then you'll be able to log into the PC using the new "LOCAL" account. Next, go back to the user manager and delete the other (original) account that is tied into the temporary Microsoft account. You can also try searching CZcams for other ways to bypass the requirement. New videos pop up as Microsoft starts changing things. Another idea is to perform a Windows 10/11 Clean Install using a USB flash drive. I made a video on how to do that here: For Windows 10: czcams.com/video/bP03Y-l9NOM/video.html For Windows 11: czcams.com/video/ZMKl9wBJYD0/video.html I hope this info is helpful! -- Jason :)

    • @JasonBagnell
      @JasonBagnell Před 8 dny

      Hi! That is unusual but I did some research on Google to see what other people were saying about it. One person said that they ran the Windows Media Creation tool as an Administrator (right click the file you downloaded and choose Run as Administrator) and it worked properly after the flash drive was re-created. See: www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/nvbhal/windows_10_install_fails_with_error_0xc0000005/ Other people said that you should try again but connect the USB flash drive to a different USB port. If you plugged it into the front side of the computer, try using the ports in the back, and vice versa. If that still doesn't work, try recreating the Windows Installation Media onto a different USB flash drive. The one you're using might be having problems. Hopefully some of these solutions will help you. Good luck with it! -- Jason

    So after this kind of reset, Can anyone use any recovery software and recover the deleted files?

    • @JasonBagnell
      @JasonBagnell Před 8 dny

      Hi! If you select the "Remove everything" and "Clean data: Yes" options, no one will be able to recover anything from the drive after it has been secure-erased. I made another video where I added 400GB+ of my personal data to a mechanical hard drive, ran the Windows "Reset this PC" program to secure erase the drive and then I tried using Recuva, Disk Drill and a Hex Editor to see if I could recover any data after the "Clean data: Yes" process completed, and I could NOT. Good to know. See -- czcams.com/video/j5dO3iG1_S0/video.html Have a great day -- Jason :)

    Hello sir, i have a question. I had to disable VMD controller (or raid) from my bios in order to find the drivers during installation process, Now after finishing the installation and everything thing, should i go back and enable VMD controller? Or that can affect the windows and i should just keep it disabled?

    • @JasonBagnell
      @JasonBagnell Před 10 dny

      Hi! You can try re-enabling the VMD controller and the see if Windows will boot up. Write down exactly what you changed so you can revert everything back if it does not work. It shouldn't hurt anything for you to try. Before you make the change, pull up the Windows Updates screen and make sure that all pending updates have been installed. Next, in Windows Updates, click on "Advanced Options", then "Optional Updates" and install any updates that appear to be related to your motherboard, chipset, hard drive, storage controller, etc. Once that is done, you will have a better chance of the PC booting with VMD mode enabled. Have a great weekend! -- Jason

    • @JasonBagnell

      Hi! The "Reset this PC" feature reinstalls a fresh copy of Windows and it removes all applications, including Microsoft Office. You'll also need to log back into your Microsoft Account once the process is complete, if you want to have the new Windows installation reconnected to it. That being said, the answer to your question would be "no". I hope this helps! -- Jason :)
