Algonquin Park Spring Canoe Trip P2
This part 2 of our 4 day 3 night 2024 spring canoe trip, starting point was Megnetawan to Misty Lake, we paddled on 15 lakes and 19 portage, a total of 36km. This is our first trip with our brand new Swift Keewaydin 17' canoe, which is a beauty. We tried to go a little earlier this year to avoid the bugs but not so lucky, it was the worst I ever seen them. Even though the bugs were bad we still managed to make great meals, enjoyed the sounds of nature and the beautiful scenery. Can't wait until the next adventure. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for the video. I have this pad but in the long and wide version. Considering buying this for when my girlfriend camps with me so we are not on two separate mattresses with a gap and them being at different heights. Now that you've had it a while how has it held up? Any notable movement when one person rolls or tosses and turns in the night?
Thank you for watching the video. As for the pad, it has held up very well, with no loss of air during the night and very minimal notice of movement from my wife and vice versa. Hopefully, this will help with your decision.
Herberts is the best fish! But who won the bag of chips!? Btw site 134 looks great.
I agree, the fish is the best, its a must when in Killarney. As for the winner for the bag of chip, it was me, but I shared it with the kiddos. Thanks for watching.
Beautiful boat! Thanks for taking us along, we are looking at going to Misty in September.
Thank you for watching, and I think going in September is a perfect time to go, no bugs. We are planning another trip next week, next month, and in October.
Tips for Backcountry pancakes, bring ready crisp bacon to oil up the pan. Also we use a small fire instead of the stove, seems to burn less.
I will give that a try, thanks.
Nice video ...
Thank You☺
About to try this
I had to do it last week and worked great again. Let me know if it worked for you. Thanks for watching.
I went to do it it was done by itself I left the kayak for a whole week outside with temperatures over 90
Great place for walking the dogs.
Just to clarify my last post what I meant was can chicken flakes, not a can chicken.😊
I will definitely look into the chicken flakes. Thanks for the idea and for watching.
Next time try can chicken ,it seems to rehydrate better. If you get to the U.S. go to Wally's they have chicken in a pouch that works out excellent for all kinds of meals ,I always stock up on it when I go down there. Another great video guys.
looks like a great trip, I was really surprised that the bugs weren't worse. What do you use for a map/navigation?
We use Avenza Map on our phones, works great since it give you your exact location in your travels. You are also able to upload Jeff Maps to Avenza. I did create a video on how to use Avenza last year. Thank you for the watching.
New canoe looks awesome! The big Oops 😂. Fun video to watch.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thx for taking us along. Nice to see a happy couple out together in the wilderness and your water loving pup. I've subscribed and will look forward to many more adventures to come.
It's great to have my wife and dog by my side on these great adventures. Thank you for watching and subscribing.
Great video! I'm liking the new canoe as well.
The canoe is awesome, thank you for watching.
Very beautiful! Love the video 😊
Thank you so much!
I was out from the 7th to 10th and the black flies were all ready out and just starting to bite. The OvaEasy eggs are great ,alot better than the eggs in a bag and boiling water and well worth the extra effort to make and clean up. I'm lucky as I have a sister in Missouri so I get my eggs shipped to her and I get free shipping and just pick them up when I go visit. Great videos keep them coming.
Thank you for wathcing and the great comment. I will keep them coming.
Great video, nice canoe!
Thanks! 👍
Great video 🎉
Thank you 😁
My factory can produce this kind of bag
So pretty!!
How do you like the elevate ts rails with the tri fold cover and does it leak water in the rain? I was about to buy it this week and real truck told me they no longer recommend it with trifold covers because they leak between the tonneau cover rail and elevate ts rail.
I really like my elevate rack system with the tri fold. There are not too many racks that allow you to have a rack and fold up a tri fold. However, it does leak, it's not a crazy amount of water, but it does get wet inside the box. I never took the time to see if I could minimize or stop the leak. That's my plan this summer. Hopefully, this helps.
Great tutorial! Thanks for your help! New subscriber!
Let the adventure begin
Look awesome. Can't wait to get on the lake now.
Hi, so did you drill some new holes in vertical columns at your desired height?
Hello, I did, and it worked great for my kayaks, but the newer racks come with 3 different levels of adjustments. A lot better.
Why didn’t they think about additional hole heights to begin with?
Pretty cool video, at this time of year (April) my heart and soul get into planning mode for my trips for the year, which is how I happened on your video. You asked for comments about options to recharge your battery bank(s), I use the X-DRAGON 40W Portable Foldable Solar Panel to charge my Anker Power Bank during the day while paddling. It is water resistant, at 40W it delivers more than enough "juice" to refill my power bank.
Yep, April was busy for me too, a lot of planning and purchasing new lighter gear. Thanks for the recommendation on the solar panel, I will have a look. Trips are getting longer, so I will need the extra source of power.
Strap the rear of the Kayaks to the front of your racks. This will keep them from sliding back and will prevent you from having to strap to your hood.
That what I started to do and it works great, thank you for comment.
Any chance there is enough room to fit 4 kayaks with these mounts on the elevate rack?
I don't have 4 kayaks to try, but I was able to fit 4 racks on the elevate rack with no problems. So I think you can fit 4 kayaks.
What are the dimensions of your Kayaks? Width and Length?
Kayak 1- Length 14' and width 26" Kayak 2- Length 12.5' and width 31"
I wonder if this will fit a diff brand 2 person like the Nemo osmo dagger 2p
To my suprise it should fit perfectly, the mat size is 1.27m W x 1.98m L and the Dagger 2p is 1.27m W x 2.29m L. However, it will not leave to much floor space in the tent.
@@paquetteadventures4120 wow thanks! Have you tested it in real life? Because I know dimensions on paper can be a bit diff in real life. If that is the case then maybe getting this for me and my husband would be the best option
That's the dimensions from the web sites, we use 3p tent and we have approximately 12" on one side. Just enough room for our dog.
Sealine dry bags are great, until the racoons chew through them and get your food. I found out that critters do not respect the hang.
Agree, those raccoons are trouble makers. Just bought another Sealine slogg bag (70) for the wife. They are great to have.
Hey there , what canoe is that your in length weight cost ????
Hello, The canoe is a Keewaydin made by Swift Canoe, the length is 17', weighs about 45lbs and cost about $6000.00. The one in this video is a rental, however, i just bought one a few weeks ago. I'm thinking about doing a video on the steps I took to purchase my canoe. Thanks
very helpful, thanks
Glad it was helpful!
I never would have thought of using the deflation port to inflate this mat with the pump. I’ve only used my pump once with my rapide SL but used the rubber attachment and held it on the valve… which works but you can’t just leave it hands free. I was going to 3D print and adapter but I’m probably not going to bother now!
It's nice when you don't have to hold the pump in place, but to make a perfect fit I sanded down the large attachment with a fine sandpaper for the perfect fit. Thank for watching.

wow great trip! I'm looking forward to doing it this fall. I can't wait to see how light you can get those packs, BTW did you pack out your used coffee grounds?
I'm glad you enjoyed the video, my favorite time to do backcountry trips is in the fall. As for the coffee grounds I would normally burn them in the fire, however, after you ask the question I did some reaserch and found out that is not the best way, going foward we will packing out our coffee grounds and on my next video I will be mentioning the importance of not leaving them behind. Thank you for your comment, I will share with others.
@@paquetteadventures4120 that's fantastic to hear and it's always great to see more content creators practicing Leave-no-trace in Algonquin
"Who brings a pen" 😂
Thule is so convoluted with their products. For a Rack system, Lock Rack is the absolute best. Bolts to the Elevate system with ease, and it secures the yak. The Thule does not "lock' you yak up.
where can you buy the t bolts separately?
I'm pretty sure you can get them on Amazon or your local hardware store (Home Depot), just make sure of the size.
The water looks super low on Ragged lake! I was down in that area almost 10 years ago. Great trip, man.
Yes it was very low, we really enjoyed that trip, thanks for watching.
What kind of Tonneau Cover are you using with it?
I have a Mopar hard top tunnel cover. I had it installed when I purchased my Ram Sport but I'm sure their other brands that can also fit just as well.
Another great video 😊
Looks awesome!!
Such a cute pupper!!
What a cutie ❤
So cute and so sweet❤❤
I’m just a baby dad 😂
Great investment to some new gear to cut some of the weight. Nice fall trip!
Grandpa love you grandpa love you

Algonquin Park always amazes me, especially the fall. Thank you for your comment.
