Ford Escort MK1 - BELKITS - Scale Modeling - 1/24 Scale
In this video, I'm excited to share my build of the Escort MK1 from BELKITS, a kit inspired by the iconic car from the Fast and Furious movie. While this model isn’t an exact replica of the one from the film, I've made some personal modifications, including changing the rims to give it a unique touch.
BELKITS is one of my favorite brands to work with because their kits are exceptionally well-made and easy to assemble. Every part fits together perfectly, making the build process smooth and enjoyable. I encountered no significant issues with this kit, which is always a plus for any model builder.
One area where I did face a bit of a challenge was during the assembly of the glass parts. The paint I used made it slightly harder to fit the glass properly, but with some patience and careful adjustments, I managed to get it done.
To enhance this kit further, I incorporated a number of upgrades that really elevate its look and feel. These enhancements make the model even more impressive and add a level of detail that I’m particularly proud of.
I thoroughly enjoyed building this kit and am excited to share the process with you. I hope you find the video both informative and entertaining. Please feel free to leave your comments below and let me know your thoughts. I always appreciate your feedback.

Bravo!!! Bellissima macchina! What a superb job you have made of this astonishing model! I was tempted to invest in the £600+ 1/18th model until I saw this. Do the bilt heads you show come as part of the kit, or do I need the Cambrian Models versions?
Grazie tanto...thanks for watch it.. Bolt heads are not included in the kit.. they are from MENG and you can by sheets with different sizes.

Amazing work indeed. I am curious about the wire you used for the interior cables. They are so thin and yet still colored. Where did you get them? They look perfect for engine detailing as well. Thx.
Thanks for your comments..I stripped a wire, painted them separately and then used them ..the possibility is that the paint cracks ..so I suggest to paint them after you assemble them.
What a struggle getting that chassis in there. My heart would be beating so fast!!
Well... It was not that difficult, Belkits did a good job with regards to the fit. And yes I was very nervous at that time 😁

I've always wanted to see how these Belkits Escort models built up - I've heard about them for a while and the Escort was one of my favorite cars as a child. This one has a lot of extra details that really make it stand out.
They have very good kits. This is my second build from them and never had problems.

Hi I’m currently building this kit at the moment and was hoping you could tell me the way you achieved the silver detailing on the wheels as I’m not sure how to go about it
Hi .thanks for your comment.. I used a fine brush and carefully I painted them. It was not easy to mask it, so I chose to hand paint them.
This is a very impressive result! I like the way you highlighted the ribs on the control surfaces. I built the E7 version this year and I really like the Hobby2000 reboxes with masks and good Cartograf decals. Really good kit for the money. Have you tried black-basing before? I find that it is better for me than preshading. It kind of "builds in" a lot of tone variation in the paint and you don't have to do as much work with oils after painting is complete.

@@bobscalemodeling9863 Well, you can still of course do oil work even with black basing, I just like the way it looks. There is a good review of the technique, just search "black basing 201" for reference.

@bobscalemodeling9863 - I did not know that the Israelis had a Spitfire in their airforce during their war of independence in 1948, since I thought that they used only Messerschmitts and B-17 bombers.
Building it rn it’s a very hard and frustrating build but can be fun at times lots of lots parts breaking missing clear sprue and most recently gaps in engine cowling I don’t understand, it’s incredibly difficult.

I am the 1st one to comment on this video :) I am honoured to be in possession of this wonderful model. This was given to me by Robert yesterday and I can tell you its perfect. It has a special place close to me hearth ❤for 3 reasons: 1: it was mastered by a very very close friend of mine, 2: I do trucks as well so I know what went into this build and 3: I collect Jack Daniels! Thank You Robert, I will cherish this model for ever (it already found its place in the showcase next to the other models) and well done again a true master build! WOW.
I have been pondering the idea of building the 1:12 Type 35 for a while now. Very good video, thank you for creating and presenting it. At approximately 5:30 in the video, you seem to be dry brushing some sort of material over a black-painted shape which looks like the differential housing. I cannot work out how you are getting most of the black paint off the higher areas but keeping it in the nooks and crannies where depth is required. It’s almost like a wash process, except there doesn’t appear to be any paint on your brush. Can you please explain the process of how you achieved such a realistic looking finish?
Thank you for your comment and for watching the video! As shown, I began by applying black oil paint all over. This was the first stage. Then, I used various brushes, starting with one to wipe off the oil paint. While doing this, I cleaned the brush on a sponge to remove as much paint as possible, though you can also use a paper towel. I kept switching to clean brushes to continue removing the oil paint until I was happy with the result. By using a wide brush, you can pick up only the high parts, barely touching the dark spots, which I believe creates a very realistic effect
Two more questions please Bob: Firstly with the louvre scribing, how do you manage to scribe each slot without damaging the louvre lip? Do you thin the reverse side of the louvre panel before scribing the slot? Secondly, the rivets on the bodywork - where do you source these 3D printed items please?
I have bought a good scriber and that helped a lot.. if I'm not mistaken I showed in the video. But the scriber helps if you have a good one.
