My husband is a big man, who if you look at him, you wouldn't think he would be a cat person but he totally is! He has been the main one to bring rescues into our home over the years! Ha well we've got a random orange in with the black//black&white crowd for that very reason! Ella's little black-and-white markings are so cute, she just happens to fit in with the dominant kitty color scheme around here! 😅💜

Thank you so much! I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your boy, they make such a place in our hearts that when they go it can just be crushing. At the end of 2019, we lost both of our girls within one week of each other - one to old age at 23 (Patra), one at age 6 (Grace) as a tragic consequence of her ongoing health problems that she had from birth... she was another bottle baby we had saved together. Since then, we have only had the boys. Ella came along at just the right time. We are ready for a new little girl, and she is just the perfect baby. There's no time limit on grief - youre ready when youre ready and not a moment before - but Im thrilled to hear that it might be time for you to welcome another cat into your life and give it a wonderful home! 💜

Thank you! I put a large plastic cup - similar to a big yogurt container - down in the body, and did use a piece of foam to give the whole thing some height. The planter did turn out to be water tight but this made for better control and easier clean up!

Thanks for the encouraging words! Re extending cut flower arrangements, I find that making sure the ends are cut on an angle, water is room temp, and all leaves below the water line are stripped off really helps. I also refresh the arrangement every couple days by sometimes making a new cut to the stems, pulling out any blooms that are fading, and changing out the water. Reportedly some people also add bleach to the water but I've not done that!

I think it would too! That little fern stand is a godsend, it's up so high it's out of their field of vision and they don't even notice it! Now if they were on the dining room table, RIP to any flowers haha 😆

Thank you so much for those kind words! I love decorating trees 💜 and we LOVE cats here! OMGosh that's too funny, the things they get interested in and mess with 😆 The fish tank is so smart!! All of our cats get wild about different things, happily Oliver - our orange boy - grew out of his Christmas tree mania. When he was little he'd climb them like his personal scratch post and we had a few ornament -free years to make sure he stayed safe and our sanity stayed semi-intact! If I ever do a "keeping cats safe at Christmas" style video, would you mind if I mention that clever solution? Thanks again for taking the time to write such thorough comments! I surely never expected this video to spread so far and wide! As for the gloves, I have to be honest and say basically I was being impatient... I was inspired and wanted to make the video right that minute, so I didn't stop to get gloves 🤷🏼‍♀️ This is definitely a project where wearing gloves would be useful!

That's wonderful to hear, thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a nice comment! Those sturdy older shade frames definitely deserve a new life! If you're starting with a totally blank frame, it might be useful to consider a muslin cotton lining as a backing for the decorative fabric to mimic the density that an intact shade will provide. For instance, you might try holding it up in front of a bulb and seeing how dense that makes your chosen fabric, and then decide how much light you'd like to come through etc. Have fun and enjoy your old/new custom shades! 💜

I didn't think of it until I was already into the project, which was foolish and I surely won't do that again! That's why I make such a big deal of it in the video, I'm no professional and make plenty of mistakes, and try to point them out when I do so others can learn! Thank you ! Yes, it would work... in fact I did try it on one small section just to see how it would look, but it just doesn't have the same lustre and depth and shine that the liquid leaf does. I feel the rub and buff works best when trying to emulate aged brass, vs gold!

Oh geez that lily situation would be terrifying!!! I had a torti named Patra for 23 years that was brutal on house plants and especially cut flowers, she loved to play in the water and caused a lot of chaos so I had to really keep things limited when she was with us... I'm very lucky that the thing my current cats hound the most are my ferns, and they're relatively safe as far as house plants go... I try to be strategic about placement but more than one fern has been suspiciously trimmed on one side or the other!! 😄

@@wrenhavenhouseandgarden I think placing plants in plant stands (pedestals) would be a good option too. I love the real wood antique stands!
