Girl you are me n I am you. Been a nurse 5 years now n even travel nursing isn’t cutting it. The anxiety I’ve been suffering n I’ve been seeking the Lord to help me thru this for so long but sometimes it’s just not the place for u to be so I’m def looking into transitioning to a non-bedside position. I wanna send this vid to all the toxic managers, secretaries, supervisors, nurses n pcts out there that made my nurse experience hell. U are not alone n this same experience is ALOT of our stories. Sucks cus I love patient care but the rest of it is so garbage. Praying for joy n fulfillment in all our next endeavors💕thank u so much for speaking out

I must say for a new graduate, you are very sharp! I am proud of how in depth and passionate that you are. I also terribly sorry for your experiences. You have painted a very adequate picture of where nursing is. I pray that we can get out of this horrible, toxic culture or there will be no one left.

I am a 53yr old Nurse. Been doing it 30yrs. I am in a SNF facility. I am going through absolutely every single thing you discussed including my first panic attack. I have been slowly building the depression and anxiety issues. I of coarse am worried about leaving what I know thinking I am not good enough or too old. However, I absolutely know I have to get out. Every single issue you spoke of is 100% accurate and it's horrible. Thank you for sharing.

I'm 53 an LPN. I absolutely hate the house politics IE... don't tell any visitors or patients family we are short staffed. Please do your charting and med pass and admissions and................... Patients having their SNACKS taken away by the facility due to BUDGET CUTS ( MANAGEMENT BONUSES.) Meals for the patients are SH*T. Nurses are gaslit. We have to eat crap from families of patients rude , bullying and absolutely insane entitlement. I voice my opinions I don't care who likes it or not. I moved to 7p to 7am. To keep from having to look and deal with management. I stay tired and feel unhealthy some days. I have to pray , ask God to forgive me for my shortcomings. I have to pray not to reach out and hurt someone for being an a$$. This job is the worst mistake I ever made. NOW, with that said I have made connections and have met some incredible patients. I still don't think that's a fair exchange due to my health. My last job admissions wanted to dump a critical patient on me when I had too many acute patients to deal with safely and professionally . I ask for help. I didn't get it. I told the DON take the keys I'm not losing my FUC(&% LICENSE. Now I'm at another job working 3rd. The aggravation has lessoned but I feel so tired. You are spot ON. ITS A BUSINESS WITH OUT COMPASSION TOWARDS STAFF AND PATIENTS. Buying my time until 62.

I just watched your video and it was like listening to my experience as an RN at a specialty hospital. I toughed it for 4 years and kept stringing myself along, saying it will get better with this new Supervisor or it will get better with this new manager, but it never did. I gave my all and more to support the team and my patients and was always chosen to be the preceptor for all the new hires because of my patient, thorough work ethic. I never wanted anyone to feel alone or unsupported while they were working with me. I also worked nights. I was approached to be a supervisor, took the job for 19 days and resigned to go back to the floor. The politics, culture and environment were “all about the money honey!” I finally reached my limit and resigned from that job. I’ve been home for 2 years caring for my sick husband. I need to get back into the workforce and have been really feeling guilty about not going back to nursing. Your video has helped me make a decision today and I thank you for sharing your experience. It’s been very inspiring to know that I’m not alone in my feelings and that there’s light at the end of the tunnel 😊 Thanks again!

Sounds like you had a rough experience. Nursing isnt for the weak it sounds like to me that you may like to go into community nursing. So you can get more involved with preventive health care Not all places treat their employers like this. It is good for someone to get a couple years experience with bedside nursing in med surg or some form of syb acute care it will make your next endeavors a little easier

WHAT is up with nursing for real? I recently heard a theory that states, (and I’m paraphrasing here) All the people who were school bullies somehow end up being nurses and, the more I hear these stories, the more I believe it. This stuff is absolutely insane and that nurse with the blood transfusion was straight up petty. I’m sorry you even encountered a nurse like that, some people don’t shouldn’t to be in this field and it’s so sad because, nurses like that are pushing away the nurses who actually love it. Been an LPN for 5 years, going for my RN and then the bedside will NEVER see my face again. Great video, new sub ❤

Resident RN(ED), Resident RN-ortho etc… im a new nurse in the US(International grad) and my first job is OR periop101.. i do think that the “bully aspect” is so much more towards female nurses.. im a male nurse and it seems less imo

Omg!!! Everything you said is true!!! I experience this as well. It really hurts to go through all that hard work and finally get to the point where you can carry out your passion and you can’t because of everything you said. I quit my grad nurse position as well the culture was totally messed up and it definitely hinders new nurses that’s just starting out and trying to learn. I haven’t even finished watching your video but this was me as a new grad 6.5 yrs ago on a Neonatal ICU UNIT. In my experience the biggest bullies were the nurses with less than 5yrs experience. I loved the older nurses. I remember my preceptor and her girl gang talk so much shit with me about all the newer nurses and telling me what not to do. It was so uncomfortable, and I’m talking as early as my first week as a nurse. I used to wake up in panic wondering if I did something wrong or missed something and if my preceptor was going to scold me for not stocking enough supplies. I had PTSD for years it wasn’t until my 4th ish year as a nurse/traveler that I stopped caring what others thought of me. You video is spot on!

Yes Ashley, I agree with everything you said. I experienced the bullying and anxiety that came with the high stress; 12 hour shifts were awful; and felt little to no support from management. I was actually medical forced to leave my RN job due to pregnancy complications... 20 years out of nursing and I am considering going back, I would need to take a RN refresher course. You asked "If We left bedside Nursing what did we do?". I stayed home and raised 2 kiddos. I was fortunate, some would say, I had a spouse who provided while I stayed at home with the kids. Well, one kiddo successfully launched into college and one just about to. Now, I'm really wanted to go back to work, it's time. I sometimes wish I would have at least stayed in Nursing part time, because I've heard no one will hire a RN after 5 years of leave. However, in all honesty, I had so much anxiety just like you described that kept me NOT running back. I'm wondering what advice people might have in my case? Do I spend the Money, effort and time to do a RN refresher course in hopes someone will hire me? or ???? I'm open to suggestions...

Bullying doesn't happen if management doesn't allow it. Co-workers will bully others because they know they will get away with it. The person being bullied usually the ones to go, and the bully stays to attack the next person. I notice bullies usually are friends with the managers.
