YES! I've been saying this for years: grading companies need to offer different slabs... heavy duty for $$$ comics that end up in the safe, lightweight for typical stuff. Wish they would do something similar with the labels: have two options and let the consumer decide; they could even charge extra. I would pay a premium for a vanity label for comics that I'm going to put in my display frames. Been sending most of my cards to PSA for 10 years--solid company. I send artist proofs to BGS (just precedent in my PC) and test prints to CGC (PSA rejected them).

That label is a non-starter. That just supports the anti-slabber argument that we are turning comics into baseball cards. Encapsulated books deserve a label and case that showcase the comic not showcase PSA.

My experience was poor with the grader I chose, but also a good lesson. Any new grading company will not automatically be the answer for everyone. I have seen fantastic books coming out of the signed CGC series, but just ok grades on regular CGC slabs. Even collectors and UTubers trying to game CGC's graders is a bit much with the tricks & trades they do to the comics before submission, and generally all that work is just for money. We've seen the effects & news stories when collectors, graders and restorers go bad doing it all " for the money".

She was wrong for c2e2, she skipped the line, she walked away with a fat stack of books. That's bad etiquette. I don't think people threatening/harassing her was right but it's not acceptable to act like an ass cuz other were doing it too. All that said, shit was forever ago and she hasn't done it since so I can't see why anyone would still have a problem with her.

Remember my dad buying me MWOM #1 off the shelve and my mum ironing on the Hulk transfer on my t shirt. Bought that and Spiderman weekly. Thats what hooked me onto comics, didnt know about American comics then. So 50 years later still buying the bloody things 😅😅

It's funny that you went on this quest for these particular trading cards. 2 years ago I went on a similar quest for trading cards I remembered back in the 90's. I re-acquired cards that were attached inside certain Image comics books, that were never published anywhere else! I also went on a Wizard magazine trading card quest and acquired all the specific cards I had always wanted, including special gold sealed cards. Very few collectors will know this unless they were around at the time.

Excellent video highlighting superb British comics, I'm lucky enough to own 100's of them and it's funny when comic collectors abroad get excited when they find a pence copy, I knew one day British comics would have it's day.

That's a good deed! I found a Punisher War Journal #15 Jim Lee cover for $3.00. Looking closely I saw a light cover signature by Jim Lee in the old "pen style" before the big markers artists use nowadays. I thought "no way!", and I checked inside the bottom of the first page was also signed by Jim Lee! I told the comic shop owner Jay (who's super-cool) he said I don't care, it's the same price, so I got a terrific find at a great price.

Hello James, first time watching, jumped over here from the Stickygoose world. I would suggest buying the reprint Incredible Hulk & Wolverine with the wraparound cover by John Byrne. Very affordable, super-cool cover with the full story, an extra wolverine Hercules story & extra pages of background.

London comic mart is my favourite. Obviously not a con but all the better for that.

British comics for me..was ..the galaxy's greatest 2000ad. Like yourself i was always a bit sniffy and dismissive about brit reprints, did collect the secret wars series though. Upgraded to American monthlies as and when my paper round £'s allowed me too. I think i swapped the full set for some indiana jones comics. Kicking myself now. Loved some of those covers you highlighted.

I have never seen those particular DC reprints before, and also James you've taught this old man something, the white under Batman's chin on #423 I've always known about, but the orange bit of sun had passed me by, lol! Just had to dig out the 36 year old book to check, despite looking at my scanned pic in my computer's catalogue! Fun vid even for a Brit!
