Is there a difference between a slide and a drift?

for any aspiring competitive players wondering not all of these shortcuts are taken optimally, also many tricks can be applied to make these shortcuts much more consistent. The easiest way to learn these shortcuts is by watching the world records, (the youtube channel MK8DX Records is easiest to use) but I'll still list all the optimal shortcuts for online usage here: Wild woods: this cut barely saves any time if you do not get the latest trick possible, then hop after the trick and start a kusaan slide, which chains into a kusaan trick and then a neutral hop into a slide and trick. GBA Mario Circuit: This shortcut can actually be taken with one mushroom and is only optimal online if you have just one mushroom, as there is more offroad to cut off with two mushrooms in the ending section. Mute City: This shortcut is made much more consistent if you mini-turbo earlier and then hop into the offroad. Mushroom Gorge: This shortcut is 100% consistent if you left hop over the gap instead of doing a neutral hop, unless you are trying to cut off the fence, which saves more time but is less consistent, in that scenario you would neutral hop. Piranha Plant Cove: DO NOT take the cut shown in the video ever, it barely saves any time and skips an item box. To get over the right side of the coral, trick on the first ramp going into the water then start a drift. You should have enough speed to get over the ramp. Squeaky Clean Sprint: Never seen the drain shortcut taken this way before but it's almost definitely slower than just going around. What you want to do is hold your ultra miniturbo and get some airtime by drifting over part of the drain next to the wall, then keep holding your drift to get more airtime over the third paper clip, release your ultra miniturbo and you should cut off all of the offroad. This could skip an item though, so only take this if you are frontrunning in first. DK Mountain: 1. The "easy" method for the rock cut is actually harder and inconsistent, do the miniturbo method instead 2. The gap cut is just taken extremely slowly you can save around .5 seconds if taken optimally Dragon Driftway: If you don't know how to softdrift well this shortcut becomes more consistent if you just brake drift a LOT before taking the cut. It's slower but better than failing. I would say this cut is easier than Mute City but that's just my opinion i guess Nonetheless this is still a great video, loved the editing style, and looking forward to more in the future! edit: literally just watched the last 30 seconds and heard you say it wasnt a guide, sorry about that 😅 but still I think this will be helpful to people looking to learn some shortcuts

I taught the squeaky clean sprint one to myself

Really good video! It is a good guide (even if it's not quite meant to be) Here are some tips for some of the cuts to make them easier: On Squeaky clean sprint you go off the left wall before the nisc with the paperclips On Mute city you release your mini turbo early and then hop, so you build up speed and don't have a mini turbo when you land on the ramp On DK Summit you rather want to release the first mini turbo earlier so you are facing more to the front and can release the second mini turbo on the ground and fall less and get further. On Dragon driftway, you have to almost perfectly softdrift around the corner and let that become muscle memory. Hope that helps and keep the great content up!

on sunshine airport to answer ur question, if ur in a bad placement and need good items hold the purple mt on the inside and then release it to grab the double or if u are in a 6+ placement you hold the purple mt and/or you have a high mt stat kart you can go for 1 blue and 1 purple and then do motion glider

Most of your miss haps with the controller is just lack of experience. You cant just motion glider by holding all left/ right, its a mixture of back back left/right all right. Also like on dolphin shoals you need to always go off the glider on the right angle you can't just go off whatever side you want. Still none of those problems, like you can see with shortcats videos remain once youre used to it. Glider vectoring is a "complex" skill afterall.

Another rule to note that if you get first place 3 times in a row, in super Mario kart, you get an extra life! Also you should do the same thing again with an snes controller. That would be cool fr.

there are a lot of people trying to grow a mario kart based channel, and i click on their videos sometimes (the ones with under 1K views). but most of them are just very bad, either because they're bad at the game, not knowledgeable about strategies and mechanics, or just major copycats of other big mario kart creators. but i think your channel has a really good chance of growing! your driving is on point, you know what you're talking about, and you always have original ideas! here's a couple more things you could try in case you're looking for more ideas: - custom items races with teams, where one team has every item except one, and the other team has only that item (e.g. boo item vs every other item) - trying to learn advanced driving techniques and implementing them in your races, like counter slides, kusaan slides, kusaan tricks, etc. - signing up for competitive mario kart lounge and playing a mogi, but actually showing the process of signing up, getting a teammate, etc. i know most of that stuff is pretty niche but it's definitely something i'd watch! 😁

4:23 you do 2 orange miniturbos, one after the first glider and the second one off the last glider, and if you're good enough you can do an orange and then a purple.
