Muddy Water 2024
We had the honour of attending and performing at Muddy Water Festival 2024 on Sandy Lake First Nation in Northern Ontario this past July. The bill had myself Drezus, Northsidebaby, Stella Standingbear, Adam Banx, JR Rhodes, Mic North, Deafening, Gurlz Gurlz Gurlz, Black Eagle Band and Tre Chad. Plus many other dope artists.
Such beautiful people out there who go through so much as a community but still take the time and resources to invest in their youth. We caught up with Northsidebaby, Mic North and some of the community leaders to talk about their experience at the festival and some of the issues that they face together.
"Neh gaaw saga'igan is the local translation of Sandy Lake.
The name Wabitiquayang, which refers to the Short narrow river between Sandy Lake and Finger Lake, was used huhemid 1900's.
Sandy Lake is a remote, fly-in First Nation community located in the boreal forested area of Northwestern Ontario along the Severn River.
Muddy Water Festival is a beacon of hope for the youth, inspiring through its vibrant celebration of music, art, and community.
Featuring diverse artists and interactive workshops, the festival encourages creativity, self-expression, and the pursuit of dreams, fostering unity and possibility among young people."
