Blackwood/Wombat ... Wild Dog Track
Riding out on the Blackwood side of Wombat.
This is Wild Dog Track
The rain that we have had has made all the tracks, muddy and slick.
All the seasonal track closures are in place, some tracks remain open.
I returned to this area two days later to see where Wild Dog track came out, I'm glad I didn't continue down on the day, it would have been pretty slick towards the bottom.
From Lerderderg Road, Wild Dog Track climbs steeply, quickly.

This loop is almost 10km in length with a wide variety of conditions.

As mentioned in the title, it's just a shortcut...a track that runs between Recreation Reserve Road, Blackwood and Greendale-Trentham Road, Blackwood.

I had a 92 XR630 that was almost the same weight and I hardly dropped it or stalled it. If you’ve ever ridden a big bore thumper with no electric start….. you quickly learn how to ride. Trying to kick over a stalled hot motor with huge compression was a nightmare. So I learned how to ride properly.

    Everyone is dealing with their own issues in life. We are very lucky where we live here in Australia. It really is a mindset, we can choose how it impacts, but when there is a down moment I try my best to just think positively and put it in perspective and seriously it makes all the difference to getting out of a rut. Appreciate your strength in sharing vulnerability. Ride safe

      Appreciate your insight, I agree we are lucky to live where we do, I have spent a significant amount of time in SE Asia and sometimes our problems are nothing compared to many others... I think for all of us it is a matter of finding "our way" to manage the down moments...I think it is especially important for men to be able to express and talk about things before they get out of hand...I think my generation and those before me grew up being told "boys don't cry", problem is we do, but generally it's when it's too late.

    Nice ride mate i ride there a bit too it's really slippery when it's wet but nice when dry. Im in a similar boat as you came off 2 weeks ago and fractured my shoulder 12 weeks to heal. All i can do now is watch on youtube Subscribed

      @SqueakyBoot Před měsícem

      Yeah, slippery, only need a touch of rain out that part of town and it changes completely...some great riding, though. Injuries, suck, at least with ribs I could still ride (painful though) a shoulder, don't know about that... Watching CZcams, has its moments, just made me miss riding, so, jumped back on the bike, till it threw me off. I ride 365 to get to work, so either way had to get back on the bike, healed or not. Cheers, thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing...Rest up, recover and get back out there.

      @@user-xe6qq9zi8s Yes, The off was Blackwood side, Frenchmans Track, Kearneys Road area from memory.. Ouch, it was the same side, had to walk it off a bit. The bark hut tracks were off Allens Creek Road, I think. Currently working on some other vids, covering some of the tracks in this area, with names and GPS locations.

      @@SqueakyBoot nothing too serious, I was practising slow speed manoeuvres through trees while standing and stalled. To avoid getting wedged between the bike and tree I kind of launched off the bike a bit and did a flip. I guess to the gyros it looked like a high side, I’m sure I would have been fine with just static armour. Still very neat to test it out though…

    Yeah mate I know the feeling well unfortunately when you think to yourself that you're doing the right things and suddenly realise that the big picture is evolving and we're not part of it. Try getting a decent job when you're 60 🙄 I re joined the construction industry after a 15 year break living up the Coast and just head down ass up after returning to Sydney since 2015 leaving my whole life back on the Coast my stuff has been in storage for almost 10 years now living in a unit in Sydney and a new Mrs it's all started again. My therapy has been bikes for all that time MTB ADV Enduro getting back in the bush is incredibly helpful just make yourself some lunch or even just an apple in the tank bag pick a favourite spot and head out works for me. I joined an adventure group and sometimes ride with those dudes good to have company sometimes looks ok where you are lots of side trails to explore. Be kind to yourself man staying optimistic is key I contemplate my mortality each time I jump on the bike and make sure I ride completely within my limits when I'm out there solo but keeping the front wheel in the air helps too 😉😁☠️ stay safe Live to Ride. The track you walked looked very steep. I always enjoyed my commute time on the bike to forget the days problems. I'm very close to work now so don't ride, it would take longer to get my gear on than the ride. Might have to get a push bike. My weekend rides are still a great de-stress though, whether it's solo or a small group.
