My nan was Scottish and i fondly remember visiting in 2001 at 11. Loved every second of it. Such a beautiful Country. I hope to visit again someday.

There is no need to book calmac at all. If you've got time you can go on the Peninsula of Kintyre to the place called Claonaig and you can get a ferry almost every hour. No need to book. Just turn up.

Thanks for posting this, I`ve always been wondering how it is! I`ve been crossing the channel many times on ferries, years ago. But have been dreading the channel, since I`m so claustrophobic. Just the thought of being under the sea and the train stopping for some time. Is scaring the life out of me. So since I love flying, I will stick to that. But at least, now I know I may be able to do it if I have to, at some point! This calmed me down a little bit. 😄

I’m American and live in EU (Germany) so the fear that most commenters who are presumably American are displaying in their comments, I don’t have. I live in peace ever since leaving the US and it’s evil. And so do my daughters, before anyone is all like “bUt You iS mAN aNd Me is wOmaN”. So, none of the things I see in the comments would deter me… …BUT…the poop turds everywhere is where I draw the line. THAT is what would have done it for me. All of that so close to my water source. So close to the structure itself so if I go out in lesser light I’m stepping all in it. Can’t even enjoy a fire outside because it’s all over the place. The odor ruining the fresh air of the mountains. I would not want to stay after seeing all that literal sht everywhere. I just can’t do it.😬

Hello Ruth, sometimes a trip just doesn’t work out, not your fault. Dogs should not bite, no excuses are acceptable, this is worrying when you think of children etc. I hope you aren’t put off from your travels as many enjoy watching your videos. It’s enough to cope with being somewhere strange but at least you found kindness in the repair fellow. Hopefully you will be able to laugh at your misfortunes soon enough, now that hopefully the bruises will have gone? You have a delicious charm, so perhaps that’s the problem! Despite a real difference between whisky and bourbon, I’d recommend Ardbeg to bourbon drinkers. A very full flavor and the peatiness echoes some bourbon notes. My apologies to those who are fiercely loyal to either tipple.

I didn't see the price on this until I looked at the comments, but I can tell you from personal experience, after 5 years of living in a van, that a 5 gallon bucket with a couple of durable plastic liner bags (bought in bulk on Amazon at only 5 cents apiece) and a snap on seat and lid combo is the way to go. No muss, no fuss. Tie up the bags and replace as needed (2x/week for me) and dispose of them with the trash. My bucket is covered with an inverted wooden tray and a square cushion so it appears to be a seat. Maybe $20 plus the case of bags. 🤷‍♀️ Dont overthink it!!

My wife & I spent 2 weeks driving around Scotland. We tried most of the food. My favorite for breakfast was Kippers. Haggis was OK, reminded me of Amish scrapple. Over all a fantastic trip that was very enjoyable. Even though we didn't find NESSIE

Loved Jura, been twice on our bikes. The second time a foot passenger was £1 and bikes free, the ferry sailed for our £2 fares. Camped at the Jura Hotel and then cycled to Tea on the Beach and had two rounds of superb tea and cake each sheltering from a storm in the horsebox. Past Lussa Gin (closed that day) and on to the end of the road. Also had the feeling of being the only medieval people on earth when met the cattle grazing the beach.

I was in Port Patrick only last Sunday having wanted to share this beautiful place with my girlfriend…. Really lovely, also to see how much Stranraer has picked up in its fortunes since the ferries moved across the loch… I have been to the Rhins many times over the years along with pretty much all of Scotland over 35 years…. still enjoy the mountains the Glens the sea, the quiet places and some of the beautiful cities and towns
