詠春拳 Wing chun -use of elasticated band for training
#WingChun #Adaptability #martialarts
Hey all! 📸 Today, were walking through some of the essential techniques from Wing Chun with the use of an elasticated work out band. These are a good option to train reaction force if you dont have a partner to practice with.
These bands have specific tension weights. This one i find good for working short snappy drills. Here i integrate a few ideas involving gaan, tan, fan, bong, fook, fak, etc.
I often use these bands when i can't meet up to practice with people. What training devices have you integrated into your wing chun?

I've had a solid steel version of this large ring for about 30 years now (bought from Shaolin Way, a shop in London's China town). I use it for the same sort of power generation techniques and for arm conditioning. As with the small 'single arm' rings. Over time, you can add more rings (for strength exercises). Sadly I can't find these larger (solid steel) rings in any shops nowadays (even online). You have to go to a specialist metal merchant to get something similar. peace.

wheres all your internal structure gone ,every part of the inside of you body should be like a pressure cooker during expansion and contraction and in that form you hit with the entire fore arm not just part of it ,it's akin to being hit by an iron bar across the liver and ribbs and your hand was turned the wrong way during the strike ,ever seen ti chi ,,the palm of the hand faces your body with a slightly bent wrist in the hit ,,everything in Xing-i has slight bends in it ,wrists ,fingers ,elbows ,,and your shoulders weren't on either, were you sucking your darntien ,and where is all the expansion gone ,,in xing-i we train the tendons so we use tendons against tendons and muscle against muscle to create the internal pressure ,and each form must be performed ultra slowly ,expect sweat to drip from your elbows ,soaking shirt ,,achieve a high pressure ,this is the secret of xing-i ,,see a body builder will push weights and his body will pump up but it will go back down every time without fail ,,you practice xing-i like this and every time you pump up you'll stay up a little longer every day until your body is expanded 24/7 without even trying ,you have changed your body at this point at the cellular level now that your body is like steel 24/7 with no effort or even conscious effort ,it is now you can begin to find softness and sensitivity ,,the body operates at a very high level at this point ,,at this point you have gone through hardness to get to softness ,and not like all the others that go through softness to get to hardness ,,oh also at that point you are just about a super man ,,not many will be able to handle or even stop or hurt your body ,,this is the secret of xing-i that only very few know ,,,slow is the way to go and only take the rains off now and again but generally practice ultra slow with internal structure and high pressure ,,and dont forget to breath properly ,also when you do that strike you must step through the opponent as you hit not just hit ,doing it this way creates kinetic energy ,very destructive.

I think one thing HK wc lost compared to the mainland wc is the sei ging, tan tou fou cham (吞吐浮沉; swallow-spit-float-sink). The bigger ring actually helps isolate the delts, lats, and core muscles quite alot for the delivery of force.

@cortocombateeskrima1799 you are right about that. My opinion is the Ip Man was not motivated to teach but forced by poverty. I think he knew way more than he taught to his students... but it's history. The big ring might be actually good as you mentioned. If someone trains a lot by himself it can do the job. Still not a big fan of it 😂

This is not what is called Saam Baai Fat in Wing Chun. Sorry. 🙏

Well then, you must know every style of wing chun, weng chun, yong chun, wing tsun, a living kung fu encyclopedia, the bible of kung fu, the word according to the god of wing chun. Comments like this is what brings chinese martial arts down. Dont like it, don't comment just Just move on.

@@cortocombateeskrima1799 I understand your point of view. The Chinese martial arts, in our case Wing Chun, have some problems. In Wing Chun, the main problem is that there are many people who teach and teach what they know and understand. That's actually fine, apart from the problem of having as many different knowledge and understandings as practitioners. And so we have to somehow make sure that what we say is right. Otherwise nobody will understand and believe anything, and rightly so. Saam Baai Fat is a separate hand form in Siu Lam Wing Chun and I have talked to direct students of Yip Man to make sure how it is meant in Hong Kong Wing Chun. Here it is the part in the Biu Zi hand form with the three bows at the end. With both hands. This is important because only Buddha uses one Buddha hand. People who bow to Buddha 3 times (Saam Baai Fat) have to do it with both hands, and so the content of this clip and your statement, backed up by multiple sources, is wrong. Sorry, it's nothing personal. I just take the time to try to correct it. 🙏

@SiulamwingchunOrg-info I learnt this from a person who studied a fat san of wing chun, I dont claim to be siu lam weng chun, Hoffman, chung chu man lineage, nearly every form in nam kuen has a form called sap jee. Only so many names for forms and sets. I was also taught wc San sau, a form called bat kiu fat (eight bridge skill), siu lim tao, jook wan methods etc. Not every line fits into a convenient box.

@@cortocombateeskrima1799 That is correct and understandable. But .... Saam Baai Fai means bowing three times to Buddha. So as long as someone is bowing to a Buddha, he / she would close both hands and bow three times. What you show is a movement that exists in every Wing Chun / Weng Chun lineage, but nowhere is called "Saam Baai Fat". It is done with one hand. Only a Buddha uses the one handed "Buddha" hand. Why should a Buddha bow to another Buddha? That makes no sense at all, it is pure logic and was confirmed by all my teachers from Wing Chun / Siu Lam Wing Chun lineages, I don't care what a German grandmaster would say, he possibly says the same, but would have to bow 10000 times. Possibly you can ask your Sifu for further information. 🙏🫶

Great video here. The ring is a wonderful training tool. It is really applicable to far more than wing chun too. Just a great tool to help in most any gung fu system I know.
