@@mkaufer05 I wouldn’t harm any wildlife regardless. The bear 🐻 didn’t even give me the time of day. He just wanted fish in the river.

@@inthewind3675 Scary and exciting at the same time. Have taken so many photos and videos in the last 4 days, but can’t upload more until Reds Meadows. Saw 5 wild mules this morning while camping near a glacial lake at 10,500 feet.

The phone steadycam is working fine as far as I can tell. That bear may have assessed you as a scrawny fit hiker and too bony for the trouble. Alternatively, you may be upwind of it?

@@dimasik76 Yes, baking soda and sea salt to keep the water in the cells and to help with flushing out the toxic blood. Try drinking reverse osmosis water as well. I’m gearing up in a few days for a major fast and will let everyone know how it turns out.

@@PhoenixGenesis Look into training for your dogs for rattle snakes. They put on a mild shock collar and then have a rattler in a cage and let the dogs approach the cage and then they zap the dog so the dog relates the snake with the shock....it works

@@inthewind3675 It’s that wooly coat that makes Razor more hot than Jake with his standard code. My bf was carrying a gallon jug plus 2 liters of water, but it seemed they needed more. I was fine with 1 liter.

@@inthewind3675 It was absolutely amazing. Took 600 photos in 1 day! There are so many epic side trails, river tubing, site seeing, etc. that I really wish we could have a month to explore and experience everything in Yosemite. We only had 4 hours sleep in 36 hours as we were cramming everything in.

Sadly agree. Too many ancient secrets for our prying 👀.

@@GreatGobsOfGoo So many parts of the PCT are just too dangerous for dirt bikers. I myself grew up riding dirt bikes. But there were other nice riding trails in the nearby area for these guys to enjoy.

@@PhoenixGenesis haha that's fair, I'm a hard Enduro guy so when I hear "too dangerous for dirt bikes" I hear a challenge! Understandable that one would be upset, it's hard to be safe when you aren't expecting to encounter dirt bikes on a trail, they can sneak up on you. H

Starting again tomorrow - just trying to figure out NoBo or SoBo based on all the current fires burning right now and where to start again. Got a JMT SoBo permit, but would have to exit at Whitney Portal to Lone Pine as Kennedy Meadows through Tehachapi are closed due to fires. 🔥 Will let everyone know ASAP where I end up.

Yes, I drink it along with my dogs. I mix in a tablespoon of coconut oil and a teaspoon of raw honey- all organic- and heat it up. Makes my huskies coats so shiny and healthy!

@@PhoenixGenesis nice I’m glad that your dogs enjoying goat milk and making their coats shiny also dogs like eggs and eggs makes their coat shiny too just like people eat eggs with their breakfast in the morning but I understand on what you are saying which is very true

@@tyerstenkimber7865 I grew up on a commercial chicken farm where we sold eggs, so I love eggs. My grandma ate them all the time and she lived to be 98 years old! And, yes, I feed them to my dogs and the egg shells I crush up for the possum that comes around at night.

phoenixgenesis on Instagram. Need to post more there, but have some amazing photos that I am proud of. Horsefly bites all over my body took me off trail to recover for a week now. Never hiking without Repel 100 or DEET ever again!!! Never saw them this bad on trail.

Behind a few days in videos. Temporarily got off trail last night due to hundreds of horsefly bites. Apparently, bitten as extensively as I was, it causes respiratory illness, fatigue, dizziness, fever and chills. So, that explains a lot. I was eaten alive climbing out of Hauser Canyon. But I got some really spectacular photos in this section, so it was worth the suffering in the long run.

Yes, we got him at 6 weeks so I could start to properly build up his lymphatic system and overall health naturally and bond with him.

Thank you. My water bottle with my electrolytes rolled down a crack in a rock down the mountain, so short 1/2 liter. ☹️ But have a liter now and there is plenty of water until Lake Morena. Yes, I do think it is allergies. Hopefully it will go away soon.

Yes, warming up quickly and everything is drying out. Some Gatorade and peanut butter crackers really uplifted my mood this morning.

Definitely experiment with your packs, esp. with the no sew method in case you want to switch it out. It is very frustrating not to be on trail, but will be much happier not plodding through the snow and sleeping in the cold. 🥶

Supposedly 1 year in a dog’s life is equal to 7 years in human life, so he would be about a 3 year old toddler.

In the beginning of the PCT, towns are close enough that you can get away with minimal food. Combine that with all the extra “food” I am carrying in body fat I need to lose and I am golden. A big bag of chips is lightweight and packed with calories and you can kind of carry it and graze as you hike. Last year, I was able to carry 7 days of food in my 20L pack by taking it out of the food bag and shoving it in every nook and cranny. Fortunately, in these non-drought years, you don’t have to carry all that extra water weight! Thanks for the support! Hope you have some great adventures this year as well!
