You are living my dream!!!! I ditched my fiancé and moved 3000 miles away to get away from her. I left behind my dream of owning and racing a dragster just like yours. Sad, really sad. Now, I have a $500K mortgage and two kids in college. My dream is gone. Please, don't lose yours!!!
Thank you but I wish it was my dragster. It belongs to John Jones. He used to race it back in the day. Now he does exhibitions. It is an awesome machine! I have had a few cars over the years and did some bracket racing. Nothing like what John did though.

Seems to be more of an evolution of the COBRA Daytona than the GT-40.
There is definitely a lot of Daytona in there. I think the billing as the sequel was because it would have came after the Ford GT.
No idea this existed, very pretty even though the nose looks out of place.

You know it! This thing was insane! Every time John revved it up people were jumping back and covering their ears. It was like a controlled explosion.
My goodness!!!! Kudos to you guys for getting that thing to run for that long. After all it is a ford and anything could happen any second!!!!!!!!!! Suggestion though, be careful standing that close to the engine like that. WHEN it grenades you want to be clear of the flying debris!!!!!
Thank you for your concern. The rest of my crew went down the street to get something to eat, but I was not going to miss this for anything. All that blew up that day was our ears. Talk about loud! I can’t believe John used to race that dragster. Those old Slingshots could be downright deadly!

Unfortunately that is the state of things. I have one but I could not afford it these days either. You can either buy one that is trashed out and pay a fortune to fix it or pay a fortune to buy a clean one. Look for a 318 two-barrel. Much more affordable and it is still a Charger.
I was 18 when I got mine in 1978. New paint, top and door cards. Pulled out of the lot, stopped at the light and some girls threw a flower to me. It kept getting better and better. 4 speed, what a car! Dim your headlights with your clutch pedal. True love of a work of art.

Richard Seis actually was playing around with a '68 Charger convertible project. Unlike this type of conversion, he left the flying buttresses in- he used Chrysler & Pontiac convertible frame pieces; he worked at Boeing with my friend's dad for years until retiring. Super nice guy
That is interesting how Richard came up with his own design. How did it turn out? I have a friend that worked as tool and die at Boeing. Despite the problems Boeing has encountered there are a lot of good people working there.
@@WolfHeiau my brother, several friends et cetera work there. Richard is the designer/stylist that came up with the 2nd gen Charger design. He wanted to stay true to the original look when the top was up. He sold the car to a friend in the early 2000's (Bob K, aka "Superbird Bob") about 85% done. I believe the car is in New Jersey now
That is fascinating! Quite an undertaking. With the top up at first glance you would think it was a black vinyl top. As someone with a '68 Charger I found this car interesting.
