Yes. Carry on.
OH MAN! Memories! I love this music! Ultima V is also my favorite game of all time.
Its scary that I had the random thought 10 minutes ago that i need black metal careless whisper in my life...and it exists. Its not a good thing that the world is optimizing for the way i think.
The original "last dungeon" mood.... Most people couldn't hear it because you needed that Mockingboard thing but it's quite impressive for those who did.
What good memories this brings back. Christmas 1985, playing this into the wee hours as a 13 year old kid, sharing ideas with friends in my neighborhood. Then later in machine language learning how to hack the game and change the text of what the characters say 😂😂 but this music is the best part.
Lol I did that too - I changed the conversations of the NPCs, built my own towns, built bridges across the continents, etc etc - great fun!
Sounds nice but always proffered my C=64's version
This tune haunted me in my young childhood with my friend playing this game. I chased this song throughout time until I found emulators and even they couldn't play it right. Thanks for this post
I'll randomly catch myself humming "Wanderer" ever since I was a ten year old. Back then I spent what must have been literal weeks wandering Britannia
I’m the same. I’m 53 now and find myself always whistling the wandering and combat tunes. They’ve been burned into my brain.
Alle Gefühle kommen wieder rauf, bestimmt 1000 Stunden gezockt.
PS: "Report thy victory!"
The Wanderer theme is stuck in my brain for the last 40 years.
We got U4 when I was in the 5th grade, fell in love with it. It's awesome to hear a previous editions music. I'm sure U3 was amazing.
Even though I had an Apple IIc as a child, I had friends with C64s. No soundboard for me, so nostalgia came from the computer I never owned.
35 years ago, I couldnt get this on Apple II+ clone mono speaker :(
one of my favorite songs YES
I never actually got to use an Apple with Cricket card, sounds pretty neat.
Можно текст песни будьласко?
I played this on a school play. Was the best song.
I wonder if somebody was able to recognize it :)
As Richard said himself "back when game developers had to make their OWN engine".
poor mix 😞
Ken Arnold did a fantastic job here! For the first time right on point! 👌
One day i still want to finish all the Ultima games and write my own reviews
Hmm...I'd like to do that as well.
@@donstarlancer same here!
Everytime i listen to this i feel a nostalgia feeling from a time which i didn't live in Very beautiful compositions.
Just a note, there is a way to finagle the original 3 voice Mockingboard version out of the PC version from GOG with the upgrade patch. It requires you to emulate the Tandy 1000 sound chip, which was also a 3 voice chip. This requires some custom drivers you can find online and finagling around the SETM utility to use them. With that, you can ditch the ear-grating MIDI renditions and return to the 3-voice original. Sadly the same cannot apply to Ultima 5 since that used dual Mockingboards, so it needs 6 voices.
Music was so simple but so cool at the same time. Loved these games on my old C64 and would play them for hours.
The Mockingboard really was a great sound-card for the Apple II. I still prefer the way the SID chip's waveforms sound (not to mention was included on the already far cheaper C64 without buying a sound card for an already overpriced Apple II) but this version has it's own charm with the extra voice. Some of the tracks are weaker tho, the castle theme in particular, but the dungeon theme is great.
Pretty good version of an amazing song, but the .sid version for the C64/128 was better.
Thank you so much for that ! 👍
Very Zelda like, I can see where Nintendo got its ideas from.
one word, amazing
Yep
Anyone else do the exploit by inserting the dungeon disk in the wilderness and get an never ending chest ? ? ? ?
Ultima 5 was also one of the few apple 2 games to support use of duel Mockingboard's
Sorry I'm picking teams here. The composition is obviously great but the Commodore version kicks ass on the Apple.
Here's the lyric video out of the Poropetra song Sinihirwi! The new compilation album of Poropetra, Vahvaa verta (Mouraisut 2003-2013) is also out now! czcams.com/video/A2ZbhnPTdP0/video.html
que merda kkkkkkkkkkkkk
Not to nitpick, but this music is missing the part from the underground where the whirlpool takes you. (it comes after the exodus castle music). I recall it a little bit, was trying to play on piano and see how well I recalled it. You might be a super nerd from the 80's if you have any idea what I am talking about!
Memories.
How much was a mockingboard back then? I played without music.
1:02 best part
I love this game
Хорошо. Мне нравится.
Ahhh memories wish they had this in uo
Remember I'd enjoy the music at the Shrine of Justice for hours on end, something about it just was unforgettable, I was awful at puzzle solving things this difficult as a kid but damn if I didn't enjoy every minute of trying.
And just like that, I am 8 years old again awaiting the adventure.
This is probably the best verion of Rule britannia ill ever find
I haven't played this game in about 25 or 30 years and I'll be doing something at work and I'll just start humming this music all day long
Haha same
Oh my...
An avatar was here 🗡
Lovely!
