Hello and welcome to my channel. My name is Kevin and I plan to use this space to share with you my love of walking, nature and photography. Over recent months I have discovered a new hobby. I really enjoy making short informal videos of the places I visit, whether it is to show a stunning view, tell the story of a local legend or capture moments from rural events. I am just an amateur film maker with fairly basic equipment, but I have plenty of enthusiasm and a real love of our beautiful country and heritage. I hope you enjoy my little films as much as I love making them
Winchelsea in East Sussex

Winchelsea is a town in the county of East Sussex, England, located between the High Weald and the Romney Marsh, approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) south west of Rye and 7 miles (11 km) north east of Hastings. The current town, which was founded in 1288, replaced an earlier town of the same name, known as Old Winchelsea, that was lost to coastal erosion in the late medieval period. Winchelsea is part of the civil parish of Icklesham.

I love seeing the ruins of this castle at Hastings. The dungeons were really amazing and still in such great shape. Very cool! 🙂👍

I’ve never been into Hastings castle. Been in the caves lots of times. But never the castle! Thanks Kevin and Steve

Great defensive position but looked like a lot of the remaining ruins were of the church. Good entente cordiale with stone and looks like Steve is the keeper of the privy purse!! The dungeons made a fittingly grim finale. Looked like they were partially dug out of the bedrock. I would not like to be incarcerated down there!
@jeanblemings5352 Thank you, Jean 😊. Steve was indeed, but all renumeration were paid, lol. Yes, it's mostly the church ruins, but I think it may have all been connected. The dungeons were deep, I wasn't sure if the video would show that too well. It would have been so cold and damp down there.

Thank you for this wonderful video. My Great x4 grandfather Thomas Slingo was born in Crondall in 1799. He was married to Jane Javes in All Saints Church in 1823. I am descended through his son George who emigrated to Australia in the 1850s. Thomas was sentence to transportation for stealing a sheep in 1841 but remained on the hulk York until 1846 when he received a free pardon. He then disappears from history.

Thanks to everyone for showing us Littlehampton. Haven't been there since I was a school boy. It was one of the annual destinations for the villagers of East Meon.

It was a wonderful but rather windy walk!! Loving the seashore shots towards the end. Thanks to the leaders and all who attended making it such an enjoyable day.

Thank you for a brilliant video, very inspiring! I was planning to walk along the South Coast but age and aches and pains now prevent steep bills and rugged terrain. I'm now thinking I'll walk as far as possible along each promenade that I come to and then catch a bus to the next one. Littlehampton looks like a lovely one. I can call it "promenade along the Prom" or something similar!
@sueweston502 Thank you, Sue 😊. How about coming and joining us one day. We try and do some walks where there are no hills. Next month, we are starting at Godalming near Sainsbury's. It's a walk along the canal, a linear walk, or near enough. You can walk as far as you can go, then retrace your steps. You would be very welcome and meet some of the group.

Hi Kevin and Cynthia. That was a very relaxing walk. You said it was a group ramble, but I didn't spot anyone else! It's difficult to show steep tracks on video, so I'll take your word for it. Nonetheless, a lovely video. I see you've found some new transitions!

Been to Hastings many times and been on the railway a few times. I love the fishing boats and the old town. Nice to see you in east Sussex Kevin 👍

How does that one work, Kevin? Is it hauled up by cables, or is it on some counter balance system, where the one going down , pulls the other up? When you were going up, I didn't spot the other one coming down and I couldn't make out if it was just a single track. They really should have a cafe at the top.
Thank you Lionel and Mary 🙂I think it was hauled by chains, there was a double side by side set of rails. One set of chains hauled you up while the other lowered you down. A great peice of engineering.
@@lionelmarytravels6003 I think sometimes they use water tanks as a counterweight but not sure if this is the case on this particular set up.

I always call it, 'grass cutting therapy'. There is a great degree of satisfaction to see a nicely mown meadow, and I have rather a lot of gras to cut! Bravo to you all!
