Which one is better to listen air Band? Both ?

I downloaded the software and it cannot be programmed. I try to read it but it says error. How do I program it?

Yes they can be changed it's a small torx screw 🪛

GMRS and FRS use the same frequencies and you do not need a license for 2 W.

Not quite …. GMRS will work on GMRS frequencies at up to 5 watts of power, HAM will work on HAM frequencies (but NOT GMRS or MURS) and UNLOCKED works on all frequencies at up to 10 watts!!! Why? You can switch between setups if you have both FCC licenses, on the same radio and still be “legal”!

Trying to understand. The GMRS can be used for GMRS and or unlocked for ham….But the Ham model is ham only? Is that correct?

You'll find that the power output for these radios with the same firmware will vary a couple of watts from radio to radio.

I have seen several reviews of the TD-H8 where it does NOT have spurious emissions. In fact, one of them ran the test and there were no additional signals other than the TX signal.

Just got mine yesterday & easily programmed local HAM Repeaters, GMRS Channels & Repeaters as well as FRS and MURS Channels using CHIRP. For Listening only of course :)

What battery does this model use. I bought one on amazon and it's the wrong one.

Good review! Unfortunately they all seem rather scratchy to me. I don’t think I could listen to more than 5 mins of airband on any of these. Think I’ll stick with my handheld Uniden scanner for airband.

Thank you for that information! I only did a review to compare the units I have that DO receive Airband. None of them are intended as a scanner, they just have Airband as an extra.

I don't care about air band on a transceiver. I have several Ham handhelds that have it. My old Uniden BC125AT handheld scanner beats them all, especially on sheer scan speed. Also my Uniden SDS200 desktop is hard to beat. It can actually search the entire military air band from 225 to 380 mHz in 70 seconds!!! That's 155 Mhz total in 70 seconds. But I do have to lockout about 10 birdies. In the 90s I had an AOR 1500 scanner that was the best on air band ever. Too bad I accidentally ruined that old radio about 10 years ago.

You can program all ham frequencies into the unit just to listen all you want! Use CHIRP with a cable or enter using keypad. Enjoy!

Elderly couple here we just bought one of these we have the FM and weather station working but how do we listen to ham on here we do not want to transmit just listen for emergencies
