I was videotaping this house around 8am, when in the background, some neighborhood dogs decided that it was time for everyone else to wake up. I think they were trying to sing Ramblin' Man.

Hymn was written by Julia Howe 1861 to renew a march song for the union during the beginning of the US Civil war. Lyrics were written down after Julia woke one early morning. She wrote them after waking up down before she could forget them. She applied the lyrics to the music to William Stowe's written song John Brown's Body, written 5 years earlier. The song became the Union's renewed Battle H...

This is the greatest opening for any Olympics that NBC has ever produced. Hands down. Between James Earl Jones and his amazing voice and the incredible imagery of athletes and gorgeous scenery, this was just perfection.

How far both our nations have fallen. 😢😢😢😢😢😢
Unique performance. Great job director. Thank you to you all❤
Our oldest enemy turned our closest friend. Stay safe UK.
What a tremedous sound, Mrs Howe who wrote it and John Brown would be in tears im sure, what a thoughtful service. Even though it was for a horrible tragedy, the NATO world felt so connected and human
It’s hard to look at this and realize the future will end up making this the good old days. Shudder.
This hymn was penned by the great Unitarian Mrs. Julia Ward Howe.
Regard less of one's ethnic origins, if one is an AMERICAN ENGLAND is the Mother Country!

It's good that he didn't associate islam with the "evil" he was talking about. Anyone can be evil. If you associate evil with an entire religion, you *are* the evil he's talking about.
Anyway, Muslims are actually the problem

It still gets to me. Hell, I'm starting to choke up, dammit.
The Anglo-Saxons come together to defeat evil. Our maritime world order must endure.
From reading a new book on the late Queen Elizabeth 2, I discovered that out of 2,997 people killed on September 11th, 2001, 67 English people were killed in The WTC Towers
After all these years since 9/11, I come back to this video every now and then. I still cry when I think about those people singing the Battle Hymn of the Republic with so many people in the streets that couldn’t get into the cathedral. I hope some bonds never die.
This is beautiful, thank you UK. The very best "Battle Hymn of the Republic" is George H. W. Bush's funeral, if anyone is interested in the song.
Quite appropriately this was also sung at the abbey for Winston Churchill's funeral as well as beung half American himself it was his favourite hymn.
Yes.
4 6 2024. Still resoundant today too. Thank you Great Britain!
I was one when 9/11 took place so I was to young to remember but watching this now really makes me shed tears over how amazing and united we are with our cousins across the pond
There is the residue of our empire (our, including you in America). It is strange, but the existence and unprecedented event that our empire was and still is, while fully acknowledging the seemingly inevitable disagreeable aspects of empire in general and our empire, whether it's 1910 with a Union flag and the Cross of St.George or 2024 with the Stars and Strips aside the various Commonwealth flags, within it is an expression of a deep desire and capacity for friendship, as we might say, among those who know that which only they know. I think we want to sing your songs most often not for politics or fun but because they feel as if we wrote them. Of course a person can feel a fondness for a song in any language from any culture for any reason that it speaks to them, I listen to many songs I can hardly speak a word of, and most cultures probably do have songs that speak to something in most people, but few have such a wide domain with such independence and yet near perfect and constant peace between them and not only that but allegiance too. I think a mark of this is how many songs that are considered old and traditional to one country or another, that we each argue over who actually wrote it first or who it truly means most to. Beside our larger disagreements, I feels as though those insignificant disagreements show the reality of a great friendship that desperately wants to endure and grow, or else surely we wouldn't really care about such things.
On the same day this service was held, British Prime Minister Tony Blair invoked Article 5 of the NATO treaty for the first time in its history and declared war on Al-Qaeda. We always had your back.
It is so heartwarming how close all British people stood by America in those dark days. Britain, please know we have your back just as much. May our alliance last forever. 🇺🇸 ❤️ 🇬🇧
It appears Americans are becoming more aware of MANY, MANY great actions, supportive actions, respectful actions the UK has done for & on behalf of the USA & its citizens under King George VI & Queen Elizabeth II. It is very nice to see this happening. 🙏💙
He mentioned 'other great faiths'. I am struggling to think of another faith that accepts Jesus Christ as its leader, the risen son of God, who walked and taught on earth, died for our sins, and now sits at God's Right Hand, ready to help destroy God's enemies. What a great servant of Satan the churches are, this CEO nonce is truly hated by God.
So did the choir practice this piece before the event happened?
This was played during Channel 7's Olympic coverage for bumpers and intros v/o'ed by Craig Willis
There are literally THOUSANDS of videos on this man. MJ, Lebron, Babe Ruth, Messi, Ronaldo, Williams, Phelps, Bolt - I don't think there is a more recognizable name or face in all of sport history than Muhammad Ali.
So much BS at the beginning, crazy how much we bought into it back then.
You sure are the edgelord. Show some respect.
Remember also, UK citizens died that day in the towers as well. They should always be remembered.
I love the navy. I heard there may be a couple boy bands from the 90's and 2000's in there.

What did he say to Charles Barkely? Knowing his knack for jokes it must have been good.
when most people were still human ...
well deserved
I have been asked why england did this for us...well simply put, A mother never loses a love of her son
the iconic Muhammad Ali
George Carey was the best Archbishop of Canterbury in my lifetime.
That is the Battle Hymn of our Nation the United States. What's different now than the summer of 1940 when Britain stood alone. We never allow Britain to stand alone again, and we shouldn't have in 1940.
I wonder if this song is referred to as “Mine Eyes Have Seen The Glory” in the UK instead of “Battle Hymn Of The Republic” like it is in the US because the UK is a monarchy and referencing a republic in a song like this could be interpreted as anti-monarchy
In my experience you are right, it is generally called Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory. Nobody worries about the rest of the stuff you thought might worry the Brits though. In fact , at the changing of the guard ceremony outside Buckingham Palace Her late Majesty, the Queen had the American Anthem played , and we all now what had happened just before the Dawn's Early Light.
Much respect and love to the people of Great Britain!
his impact truly transcended the sport of boxing for sure!!!!!
