"We plough and sow.. we're very very low.." (I'm not actually but that's just the song)
One of my favourites
Actually based on a poem/speech by an MP I think, many years ago.
I do not like to think of myself as "low" at all. Song of the Lower Classes is also called or Song of the Other Ranks/Song of the Low. Some people like to glorify being a commoner and show how working class they are. Especially funny when some (quite obviously 'middle-class') folk singers put on a common accent to sing with. Why not just be yourself?
Here is a good version by Bob Davenport czcams.com/video/OpWCiPkhJRQ/video.html
and my other version when one of my ferrets made a guest appearance

I started a podcast called "Together We Rise" back in 2020 and made a few episodes . I recently found a TON of recordings in my drafts folder so here are some of them mashed together. It’s all a bit of a jumble but I have loved listening back. The show notes can be found on my blog below with photos for clarification etc. (I will be publishing some of the rest of the recordings as well as putti...

A little snippet from a lush song called Lowlands Away. This was deep inside the most echoey place I have had the privilege to sing in.
walking in fields with baby on back and dogs running off somewhere, singing a folk song called Sovay
zhlédnutí 290Před měsícem
Here is a song called Sovay about a girl who disguises herself as a highwayman and robs her true love in order to see if she can catch him out Another version that I did with my sister in a Nottingham cave can be found here: czcams.com/video/JNWSeqtP6TA/video.html I'm often distracted looking about for the dogs who tend to bog off for ages after rabbits. Again, this song was a spontaneous thing...

Otter song on piano (The Lost Words Blessing)
zhlédnutí 83Před měsícem
Just found out that today is World Otter Day ( I love mustelids having had pet ferrets for some years) so it reminded me of this beautiful song. "May you enter now as otter without falter into water...." Normally when I sing the line about the otter, I pick up the toy otter we have who usually sits on the piano keys (not on this video as I recorded this a year ago or two!) This was written by a...

I sang along with you on the chrous. This was nice. You're a good singer.
Seems a timeless song
Just the best.xxx🐝🐝🐝🐝
Not much has improved. Workers are still oppressed and exploited all around the world.
❤
unaccompanied singing . the bravest and most pure sounds. theres nothing to hide behind if you make a mistake. keep up the great singing please.
@@paulkyffin thank you. Of course. I’ll always sing
Be well😊
As this was written by an MP and we have a new government, lets hope they look after the less fortunate a little better.
a very nice version of this song . will keep a look out for more songs
Well , that's my Sunday honeyed. Thank you .
ditto ... you're a good egg
Lovely.
Beautiful.
I've so many good memories from listening to this tune , thanks for bringing them back to life...
Beautiful
You have a lovely voice.
The beauty and humanity is shocking.
Cailin deas . Any place you sing is blessed. Go raith mille maith agat .
@@HarpurheyPaul tá fáilte romhat! (I studied Gaelic many years ago for the songs!) Thanks for your kind words. I appreciate it 💙
I'm in thrall. A thousand years in a voice.Thank you.
Listens to this so much so lovely
Lovely. The melody is taken from the same Hussar song that Prokofiev used for the "Troika" segment of his Lieutenant Kije Suite. czcams.com/video/Mq3hRVAC1GE/video.html
Beautiful song and choice of clothes 😊
I love this song, it's beautiful.
@@joeburton1938 thanks. One of my favourites
Really enjoyed. Interesting that she felt she could not be bold . . . I'm going to listen and watch again.
@@WakingUpToday213 yes that bit always stands out for me too
@@EatBakeSing Seems to be the way though. People like to be romanced and seduced and bewitched. No-one seems to like just being told "Hey, I really like you."
Ure a Goddess senora
I didn´t know this song. Thank you for singing it so beautifully. :)
a most evocative and pleasing rendition.
Beautiful... Your voice, lyrics and location make me feel homesick. Thankyou for sharing your beautiful voice with us all❤
Ah I know that feeling of being homesick having travelled a lot as well as lived abroad when I was younger. I get it now if I go outside Notts/Derbyshire!
Beautiful.
Thanks
Ya always hear or read about something "eeriely beautiful'...and this is one 🥰 IMO 😌
Beautiful
Absolutely enchanting. Thank you for sharing a piece of your rich culture through these beautiful songs.
Wonderful songs you have there. Have you tried the song I wish, I wish? czcams.com/video/7zO0eHt5cRg/video.htmlsi=RECSk7KBZarFtrHU
Reminds me of Anne Briggs singing this song. She also came from Nottingham. You both have wonderful voices.
Do you know the audio is sounding a bit bubbly on these podcasts. Bubbly is the best way I can describe it.
Actually forget that it must be the device I'm listening on sounds perfect on my computer.
A pretty English lass singing in the beautiful English countryside..the stuff that dreams are made of. You REALLY DO make a difference in this world...know that sweetheart ❤
Beautiful. ✨
you have the sun lucky
This would have been nice to have hapenned upon three fields away. Perhaps first doing a 360 Wondering if I really could hear a woman trying to out-perfom the birds? No sooner had I pinned her location... she was gone. Not the only bright glowing thing that would vanish below the hill that day. 🌞
These songs are our heritage and must be kept alive, thank you.
Love this ❤ It's chilled me out
Lovely stuff!
Thank you
I remember this being sung by the church organist, Stewart Thorpe when I was a youngster. He was born in the mid 1860s and lived to be 101 years old. He had an abiding love of English folksong and music, along with Sussex dialect stories and, though I didn't realise it at the time, he lit a flame in me that still burns ....lovely to hear this again, thank you !
Oh my goodness! What a wonderful memory. Thank you for sharing that. That’s what it’s all about
@@EatBakeSing ...another thing he said would mean something to me one day... he recounted stories of his grandfather living with his family when he was a lad, and he was born in the 1790s ..... I really wish now I'd paid more attention, for all I remember is that he was a farm worker
Beautiful - thank you.
Beautiful tune

Very enjoyable ... love the singing 🎶🌿 the sound of the swifts in the June skies, the smell of the broom in the humid air, and the sweet baby hedgehogs (I looked after two that were too small to hibernate many many moons ago 🌛🌕 : )
Ah that’s lovely! Little hedgehogs need looking after 💚
As Frank Troy finds out his true love and child has died 😢 He tries to plant bulbs for Fanny Robin but its no good as they get washed away
So beautiful
Thank you .. A little 🌞 shine helps 🥰 Take Care and Stay Safe 🙏🌻🕊️
