Thanks for the presentation - a good example of water cooled hvac is with boat heater and coolers that utilize sea water.

So, hot water is fed from a boiler to the humidifier where the element heats the water up and makes it become steam?

Just happened to me. Caught it on a 3 Pole 460V 3 Ph Contactor for a RTU. Was tripping the breaker instantly. Looks like the fuse was changed before and no one caught it . Feels good finding those ones after someone else has been there before you a few times lol

I'm having problems with our cooler walk in unit , when running it's 96% humidity and defrost mode goes to 73% , defrost mode it stay off 4 or more hrs and all product is in 67° or even 73°

Although I do love the idea of the younger generation starting their own gig just a few years into the trade because we desperately need the younger folks to keep this trade alive and well, the 30 year HVAC veteran in me also knows how many years it takes to be a full well rounded and experienced tech. I couldnt imagine starting my business after three or four years in the field, I didnt know jack crap compared to when I actually started my own years and years later. It takes tens and tens of thousands of service calls on all kinds of different equipment and applications to really get to know this trade. There are no legitimate short cuts to get around that fact.

My understanding of the discharge superheat calculation is discharge line temperature less the condensing temperature converted from liquid line pressure. I have a bench top chiller (255g R134a) where the discharge line temperature is high (216F) and the liquid line temperature is low (barely above ambient). How can I test the function of this chiler while avoiding the use of a piercing valve (and possible loss of critical charge)?

I have been having an issue with a Carrier RTU recently. Issue was leading to airflow so I checked ductwork inside the space and checked static pressure of RTU. I did it using a Fieldpiece SDMN6 and I just used a single port to check supply and return individually. RTU is rated for 1 inch W.C. Max external static pressure. My supply was ( .63 in w.c) and my return was (-.37). This added up equals 1 inch correct. You don’t factor in the negative correct? Why isn’t your supply in a negative? I though the suction side or return side of blower motor would be in a negative and the discharge or supply would be positive. Younger technician just trying to learn any input would be appreciated. A good cap has a good bench test and a good load test. A bad cap has a bad bench test and a bad load test. I have yet to see a good cap have a bad load test.

Found drier that had a 3 degree drop on it after doing a leak search on the unit and pressure test and pulling vacuum.

I literally just intsalled 2 goodman 24k mini splits with cool bot pros and found out they didnt come with heaters. Lol. Apparently goodman doesn't sell pan heaters so i fabricated livestock water bowl elements to fit in the bottom for now under them unitl i could figure out a more permanent solution. I wonder if these dankin kits will work for the sister goodman condensors.

You want to pull a good vacuum? Quit using hoses and use copper from the chiller to the vacuum pump. I pulled a 200 micron on a 1500 ton Carrier centrifugal over a weekend.

Mine had a hole .broken round in old meter. Comes straight from main. Was leaking and gas man, said it was done pretty much as a dangerous thing. Some one tampered with it
