Cirrus autopilot disconnect/Pitch up problem solved!
zhlédnutí 167Před rokem
Repeated problems with uncommanded and approach initial descent auto pilot disconnect and rocket ship pitch up were a problem with this aircraft. Last year the pitch motor was sent to the OEM for repair and was returned and installed. We did a little testing and noted problems with a direction of the motor voltage being erratic while running the unit. NOTE! This unit was autopsied at our shop b...

The pressure on the seal is hard to measure because it is almost almost nothing. You would need a manometer to detect it. The only thing that makes the seal lip seal is the spring. The only time there would be a pressure in the crankcase is if the breather line were to freeze up from the moisture coming out.
Used a crimper with a nub, no good.
good job
I always solder the ends for extra security
What is this supposed to do?
clean the rings out from combustion debris......
Wait....I'm straddling 6250 psi???? Oh great something else to worry about hahahaha
You forgot the doubler ring
Are you guys doing a lot of Beringher STC's What Airframes?

Can you somehow produce the entire removal and replace of the Is prop seal of a continental 75 horse?
Is this a job routinely assigned to Noobs? Like right after they've fetched you their 50' of Flight Line?
Thanks for your video. It looks like you did it the easy way. Its bad to sand a Continental crankshaft since it is nitrided which means that the nitriding is only a few thou deep and by sanding it you harm the nitrided surface. Nitriding is a hardening process.
Really cool
I did not see you put the spring on the seal. Is it not used with the one piece seal ?
I didn't show every step....The spring is used with this seal.
@@AcVibes is the spring installed seperately over the flange and then reinseted in the seal?
nevermind, I see the spring is seperated then installed
please tell me how to, calibrate this device
The prop balance computer is calibrated by the manufacture yearly. The balance fixture is checked by running WITHOUT a wheel assembly. This tells us the fixture is at .001 IPS.
Was this inspection routine? Or because of a symptom/complaint?
It was done during a service clinic offered at a CPPP (Cirrus Pilot Proficiency Program) I had never seen the aircraft previous to this survey
Out is the hole in the middle.
Interested recommendation from youtube.
Here is another video of a engine with multiple loose seats. czcams.com/video/5VOEgA8Jbto/video.html
nice catch, wonder how he suspected that...
It wasn't a regular client. THis was an aircraft that I was inspecting at a service clinic
Where to buy it!?

Awesome. How do we make one of these?
There is aa post on the COPA forum years ago...a nice write up by the developer....who? I don't recall the name... Sorry!
What type of adhesive is recommended?
The book says Gasket Sealant (Part No. 654663) which crosses to Loctite 1522029. It also says to prime the counterbore with Loctite 7649, and to apply a translucent coat of gasket maker # 646942 (Loctite 515) to the counterbore. I am wonder if all this is necessary or if just cleaning and applying the Gasket Sealant to the outside of the seal is standard operating procedure for those who do this all the time. Any ideas anyone?
CMI has has several sealants for ages...none have been revoked by SB's or AD's... I have found almost all types holding the seal in place....none seem to have caused any seal issues...all the seals are retained by the plates on this case type.... IMHO...none are worse or better than the other...
After further investigation, most shops use Loctite 515 on both sides, bore and seal. Not too much though, just a thin coat.
Thank You for video! Super. 👍🤝
Cirrus SR 22?
Yes SR 22
Yes, Machine Shop Time.
Pretty amazing, I never would believe this seal would stretch like this.
That's so much better than the jacks. If the plane falls off the jacks with the wheel off there will be heavy damage to to the WING (by the jack!). With Jim's method you could still ruin the disc and calipers if it slides off the jack, but I don't see why it should!
cherokee592 you are correct. Possible damage to cheap easy to replace and source parts...if ..if one could get it to fall..
Excellent video... thanks!
What inspection camera is that.
interesting diagnosis
The video is to show what is NOT normal from a properly secured ball joint clamp. I will post a video of a PROPERLY secure unit as time allows.
Snap-On BK8500
What scope you using?
That's cool.
Please NOTE!!! there is NO audio with this video or video bores scope system.
