    Phil Jones for sound, bigger cabinet and 4x10s got to be best, I'd buy the Genzler though, great sound for the size, easier to cart about.

    A year after the fact, BUT.....! WHOOOOOOOH!!!! What a AWESOME comparison!!! For my discernment Except for the Orange, all the other amps handled the different styles of music extremely capably. The Orange came into its own, finally, during the heavy gain segment but even then the Eden & Aguilar were equally smoking. All said, it does come down to personal taste in the end. Great Video!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

  • @joachimmahoudeaux8619

    I’m a bit skeptical, you should have done a flat correction for all amps, the Proamp and the Eden WT sound so much thin compared to the others, also what’s the use of raising the VPF filter on the Markbass LMIII+ the high mid 800 Hz frequency ? one is scooping that frequency and the high mid is raising it ! I’m a pro and using Markbass amps since 2007 and the LMII, if you keep the VPF at 0 and the high mid flat at noon, you get the same sound. Why putting so much studio gear in the equation if you don’t make the same flat eq for ALL amps 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Well I wouldn't kick the MB LMII, MB classic, the ProAmp, Aguilar or the Eden out of bed if they farted! Most of these amps are great really. Not a big fan of the PJB sound, but I'm sure these sound great with some tweaking too. What a great time to be a bass player.

    Hartke give more sharpness, bright and definition Mark bass is more warm and versatile Orange give a great RnR sound Eden is like an Hartke but more 80s vibe with a beautiful bass boost Pro Amp imo is very versatile Aguilar give a kind of Heavy Metal sound PJB is the first time I listen to it so I don’t know but seems a beast

  • @RayBecker
    @RayBecker Před 24 dny

    Right off the bat, what might be good tone for you may not be good for me. I'm of the old school and bass should be felt, not heard. I was surprised by the Hartke. The Aguilar is nice. I would say the Eden is the best. It cut through and yet maintained good bottom. I'm disappointed in the Mark Bass and the PJB. That Mark Bass Classic is trying to ape the Ampeg SVT; that ain't working. Again, it's all subjective. We all hear things differently and we all play differently. Tone comes from the hands, fingers, wood, electronics, cable and then amp

  • @blastmanutz7798
    @blastmanutz7798 Před 24 dny

    Hartke, proamp and markbass classic. Orange sounds like a dud, as always. PJB sounds shallow but that's because of the very small speakers and mic proximity.

    Very, very good comparison. I have a PJB and a Mesa, and this shows the same differences I hear. However, I like both and use them with different basses to get exactly the right match to get a killer tone. The only limitation of this comparison is how they perform live. For me, the PJB projects and the Mesa fills the room, so it depends on the venue and how the bass is supposed to fit in a band context.

    As a pro drummer and engineer,PJ is the best live bass sounds I've ever heard. I think there is some consideration to be taken on mic placement and distance from speaker for these cabinets verses the others due to the smaller drivers. But really in the end, a pro player can get any of these Rigs to do what they need it to do.

    So I've played through the Phil Jones, the Mesa and the mark bass. Phil Jones couldn't handle volume or low end. And don't even bother bringing a low B string to that amp. I'm sure it's fine if you're playing nothing but 12 bar blues and a small three-piece band but if you're in a rock band don't even bother with Phil. I had that thing out of the box for 30 minutes before I packed it up and sent it back to Sweetwater. Mesa, come on, it's a freaking Mesa. Of course it's going to be great. I've been using the subways for the last 3 years but my back has gotten so bad after several surgeries That I can't lift them anymore despite the fact that they're relatively light. So I went over to mark bass. I bought a 210 at 23 lb And a 112 at 24 lb. Matched up with my dark glass alpha Omega, no need to look anywhere else. So if anybody is looking for some mint condition Mesa cabinets, let me know 😁

    Excellent video!!! Thank you!! The only one I did not like was the Proamp. It sounded muffled to me. Eden, Hartke and Markbass were the top 3 in my opinion. The Aguilar was pretty closw to making my top 3.

  • @thebassclef007
    @thebassclef007 Před měsícem

    They all sound so close that honestly, in a mix of a band without any A-B ing back and forth, which amp you used would make no difference whatsoever to anyone except the bassist themselves… And even then I think it would be largely placebo.

    I use the Eden 1200-watt World Tour Head with 2 4X10 Hartle Hydrive Neodymium cabinets along with 2 X15 Hydrive Neo Bass cabs. most of my basses have Bartolinis' in them (thanks Clyde). But when I use my Ernie Ball MusicMan Stingrays through them, IT CUTS THROUGH EVERYTHING! the bottom end is tremendous thanks to the Eden head, and the mids and highs are laser sharp with the Hydrives. I've had this set up for years and it still blows people away..

    HARKE - EDEN - PRO BASS In that order although the Harkegot probably 50% of the vote and the other two 25% eash, pretty much a draw for second. I was very surprised as I thought the Aguilar was going to do well, but side by side, it just didn't do it for me. For me, the Harke was a clear winner out of these... Suprised me.

    for what it's worth, with the PJ cabinets I think part of the perceived thinness is due to the fact that the mics are so close to single speakers that you can't appreciate the fullness that the cabinets produce when so close to it. In an actual live room, the cabinet likely sounds much fuller. I have a small 2X7 PJ amp and if you're 5 feet away from it, it sounds surprisingly full.

    So similar with the Epipani having a heftier low midrange and the Aguilar being a bit thinner than the darkglass a bit brighter. I've played the Bergantino and although I love their speakers I found the head isn;t as powerful as its wattage would suggest. The Markbass seems to be a nice medium.
