March the depth of winter 1980 myself and three friends made an attempt through the barricaded forest south of Bruno to Austrian escape then Communist Czechoslovakia. We were 17 and 18 years old, i was 16 still. In the middle of the night as we penetrated the barbed wire two were shot and killed both were 17. Jan was 18 screaming at me to run like hell as he was arrested to spend until 1990 in prison, i alone made it through. Guns sounding and dogs screaming i ran all night till the early morning. Walked two days in the forest heading southwest coming upon a train yard. jumped in an open air freight car and took a day arriving in Unterfohing Germany just north of Munich. Three police officers found me and helped me. Was granted asylum and remained in Munich for two years working odd jobs. Stayed in a shed outside the home of one of the policemen who was a WWII combat veteran serving on several fronts in the war. He suggested the French Foreign Legion to me. On my 18th birthday he paid for my train ticket to Aubagne France. 14 hours later i walked into the gates of the legion service till 1997. After my service being injured in Congo i lived in Nice France for three years. The French knowing I was a legionnaire treated me like a king. Now retired in Bulgaria i return to my home the Legion to help the old men at the winery each year. Thank you France for giving me a second chance at life at the risk of my own. ❤

Por desgracia, es difícil escuchar música en París. Algún músico solitario en el túnel del Arco del Triunfo: un acordeonista fantástico. Poca música francesa en la televisión. Hermosos cantos en las misas en las iglesias de París. París me dejó una huella imborrable con su belleza y la amabilidad de los parisinos.
