I just got braidlocs w/ extensions and my loctician told me to braid and band at night and I don’t mind because I’m gonna protect my investment. I also don’t like the loose ends and will inquire about braiding down. However, everyone else loves the loose curly ends. Overall, I have more freedom than when I had to maintain my loose natural hair and overall I love my braidlocs.
I braided mine down in February. I couldn't take it anymore! I dont have to braid and band anymore (thank goodness) and I'm soooo happy with my progress! I was supposed to create a 6-month and 9-month update and I missed both checkpoints LOL. Im glad you are loving your braidlocs as well!
@@cheninthecity yours are gorgeous. Did you braid the loose ends yourself or did you go back to Braidsthatspeak?
I braided them down myself; took 3 days off and on and 17 hours total 😩
Your hair hasn't grown much for months, ijs.
It's definitely fuller than before and I have a lot of locs that have lost the braid pattern which is great to see even if I dont have more "length" :)

Thank you! No I don't. I have braided them down a lot more since this video since they were high maintenance. I'll be uploading a loc update soon!

I also solo cruise DCL! Just so you know your stateroom was not an accessible room, they don’t have bathtubs just a walk in shower only. Sorry you got sea sick I always take ginger tablets starting a week before I sail also I get sea bands from Amazon just in case but have never needed them. Also, the water in your stateroom is filtered. You need to tell your servers about your food so they can correct it for you or bring you something else. I always go to the sit down restaurant for breakfast and order my bacon crispy my scrambled eggs well done, etc. I don’t like the buffet to much craziness 😂 I think you did a marvelous job with your vlog! I was feeling a little woozy the second night and slept in those bad boys and woke up just fine! (thank goodness!!) I'm not participating in any more buffets. I was not impressed! hahaha but next time I go on one (I want to do a 4 night next time) ill def do the sit down breakfasts
Moldy sheets... okay, yuck! Thanks for reminding me why I quit traveling after 2021.
LOL! It was definitely horrifying but that was my first and last time I experienced something like that. Give traveling another chance :)

They were started with braids and maintained by interlocking the roots every 6 weeks ❤️
The way your hair shines is so gorgeous! It probably speaks to the health of your hair prior to installing the microlocs. On the day of your installation, did your loctician put anything in your hair or braided without product?
@lauranbrown249 Thank you so much! I think they used something called braid and jam for the crisp parting and that was it! I had to come with it freshly washed with a clarifying shampoo and blown out (no products!)

I’m with you! I love the results but definitely wish It was a more affordable! I spent 13 hours braiding down my ends last weekend because they left wayyy too much out and loose and after 4 months I was tired of it. 🫣

No lifter, just the dye! I want to go lighter so I think next time I will have to use a lifter.
I’m going on my first Disney cruise on the Wish (first solo too!) at the end of January so I’ve been looking at CZcams videos of people doing the same so I can get an idea of what to expect.
Have the best time!! I love looking at Vlogs of other peoples experience when I’m going on a trip too! 🫶🏾

Im not sure. I haven’t counted them! My brother estimates around 500 but that seems excessive lol

Your hair is gorgeous 😍 I went for my consultation last week and will get mine installed the end of February. Yes, the pricing is steep!!! I was clenching my invisible pearls 🤣🤣🤣. My pricing was similar to yours because of my hair length, thickness, loc size, parting size,, etc. Its a permanent investment. If i add up the yearly costs of getting my hair washed, deep conditioned, pressed at the salon or getting wigs, braids, crochet, etc., it's about the same pricing. Once I master the reties, I will save more monies. But for now, I'm going to enjoy this process 😊 I'm excited! 😊

I had two ladies working on me and it took 6 hours with no breaks! They started a little after 8am and I was back in my car at 2pm.
Wow! $1,230.00 for some tiny box plaits that could have been done and interlocked at the root for $50.00 … with wash, and style. They really out here taking people to the ringer with this style

Braid locks tend to lock flatter. I started with sisterlocks 4.5 years ago and transitioned microlocks.

Girl shedding hair is dandruff
Shed hair and dandruff are two different things. Dandruff is flaky scalp / skin and shed hair is just that… hair.

Great video. Regarding the curly ends, you could braid them yourself gradually. I’ve two strand twist microlocs and I’m browsing ends where the loose hair is longer than I’d have liked especially since it enables unraveling

I was about to type this exact comment! She could also two strand twist the ends instead of braiding them which would loc quicker than the braids and take less time to do then braiding them.
This is a good idea as well! It’s just the time commitment to actually do it
I go on my first solo cruise on the wish in Jan a little nervous but so excited also I been on 2 other Disney cruises they are really fun.

Your trip looked so fun. Bummer that the food was bad and that you wasn’t feeling well. I was excited to go on a Disney cruise but the fact that the food wasn’t good is a turn off. Your Disney ears looked so beautiful. I forget about all of the activities which makes a vacation so tiring. That mimosas was poured correctly 😊
I had such high hopes for the food! I’m still excited to go on another one in the future, i heard the older ships are way better in terms of food, entertainment and service which of course is surprising to me because this is the newest and biggest ship! It will be fun to compare (just hope I don’t get sea sick again!) 🤢

I was never told about bunching too. I have been experiencing it and have tried the crochet method to help with it. But bunching is the process. I just embrace it.
Have you liked the crochet method to help with it? I’ve been religiously braiding and banding to avoid it and I’ve considered trying to braid down further
@@cheninthecity I am trusting the process 😁but I have been experiencing with crocheting the bunching locs that look fatter. But definitely braiding loose at the scalp and tight on the loc helps a lot 👍🏾 so keep doing what you are doing. But remember to just trust the process 😊

How much was the retightening fee you were charged?
$150 and it includes a wash. I’m definitely going to have to learn how to retie myself after the one year mark
@@cheninthecity I pay $125 not including tip. She washes and retighten for that price. But I wash my own locs.
I think without a wash it might be $125 but I’m not comfortable washing my hair in the braids & banding. I tried before my first retie appointment and my scalp did not feel clean at all 🥲

I use a medicated shampoo for my scalp flare ups but also Suave daily clarifying to get all the sweat and gunk out

The week before vacation is definitely appointment Olympics; I don’t think you needed 1000 dollars for a week that’s excessive; i use that website but you know you can get those checks automatically deposited; I wouldn’t go back to her what does blunt mean? She’s not a good braider and your hair turned out beautiful but I’ve had a blunt cut and because all braiders use gel that’s the purpose of it;
Yes I was like $1000 is wayyy too much money for only one week in mexico! I still came home with like $150 so I didn’t even need the $300 I took!
