@Jerry06660 thanks I'll try that next bought some tyre weld to put a temporary fix om it to make it easier to move about đ
Watched alot of your repair videos . Where are these auctions too please ?
Thanks for watching, I use a few different auctions these ones were from a DVLA auction site based in Plymouth đ
Am I going mad or have you got the clutch lever on the wrong side of the handlebars??
@seanmoore8152 I think it might have something to do with the flip of my camera so it looks wrong the clutch is on the left hand on this bike... occasionally when I'm filming something if I use the selfie camera and hold the phone the the wrong way it messes up the flip of the video so my bad đ
A lot of people should be doing this with bikes and cars rather than just getting something on credit
I agree it's so much more rewarding and if you ever break down you have a better understanding of what's gone wrong and how to fix it đ
Doing a great job on the bikes bro keep them videos coming
You sound like a Swansea lad
Thanks, I sure will đ€
That lexmoto without a doubt needs the forks replaced, that rust will rip the seals to shreds.
Your right they most likely will destroy the seals eventually but as it stands the seals aren't leaking so for the time being I'm just going to clean the rust up as best as possible and see how it gets on as a set of forks is worth about the same as what I paid for the thing đ
Iv seen rusty forks repaired with body filler before, rub the rust away with steel wool then apply a thin coat of filler, then wet and dry it smooth with the finest grit you can get, sounds like a bad joke but it genuinely works as a long term fix.
Been enjoying this little series, As your swapping the inlet rubber on the Yamaha I would strip the carb down while its off and give it a good clean I bet you can get a rebuild kit for it. For the carb jets i've got a small ultrasonic jewelry cleaner that seems to work well not quite big enough to get a whole carb body in though.
@SAM-zt2uy thanks glad your enjoying! I've actually ordered a replacement carb as it wasn't alot more expensive than the rebuild kit and I really want to get this bike running, I will be taking the original carb apart and taking a look into it though to see if I can identify the issue, I've been considering an ultra sonic cleaner myself as I've seen they get really good results with themđ€
Good job on getting them started mate.. now you just need to strip them down and rebuild them back to their former glory đ
@WEFLIPANYCAR thanks, I might consider that with the yamaha but I'm thinking I may clean the lexmoto take it for an MOT and flip it to cover some costs đ€
Might the original carb be leaking due to the float in the bowel at the bottom of the carb is sticking causing it to flood, the float is supposed to shut the fuel flow to prevent flooding. Probably a bit late with my comment.
@martyncozens5654 I think that's exactly what was happening and I couldn't seem to stop it so it was easier and cheap enough to just get a new carb đ€
Those lexmotos are quite good lil bikes it looks shabby but will get ya about good vid mate .
Thanks, yes I'm quite impressed with the lexmoto so far to be fair đ
Jus found your channel fella iv bought cheap bikes before id either fix em or break them for spares and ebay the parts did quite well on em too .
Good effort, my plan is to do my best to keep them on the road and save them from the scrap yard, and if I can make a few quid along the ways then happy days đ€

Thanks! I hear good things about lexmotos they are certainly the best of all the Chinese brands and despite the state of this one it still runs!đ€
If you want to add about 5 to 10 HP to the motors, put amsoil oil in them. Every bike I put this in it adds pep to it. This is because it reduces friction and increases compression because it helps the rings seal.
Thanks I'll take a look into that can't say I've ever heard of that before đ€
The Yamaha ignition switch has a 100 ohm resistor in it. When the key is turned on it gives a signal for the coils to spark. No ignition switch, no spark. Lots of bikes have this anti theft system.
I was wondering if it could be something like that but I wasn't sure as all the replacement ignition online for these are wired totally differently so I didn't think this would be the case ?
đ low price because no value .junk them
You would be surprised đ
great to see you having a go and learning Sam, there's always someone for every bike at the right price and the journey can be more fun than the destinantion anyway. BTW in the late 70's a guy i knew at the local working mens club hot wired his fiat after having problems and used to leave it unlocked in the car park all the time in the hope someone would steal it and he could make a claim, he told everybody, but it was such a heap nobody did. im not making any correlation, but i just remembered it when i saw u fit the rocker switches lol.
@Bob-ts2tu thanks, yes your right there there is always someone for every bike I haven't had one yet that hasn't sold to someone! Haha that's not my intention with these bikes they will be getting proper ignitions as soon as possible, although I would be impressed if someone managed to steal them from where I actually park them up đ€Ł
What auction did you go to please?
Which auction site did you use please?
Say what you like about lexmoto mine has never let me even when it was stood up for 2 years started 1st time every time
@davidjury4525 them lexmotos are survivors I can't say I dislike them either but this one is a bit rough round the edges to say the least... but it runs so that's something đ
Thank you I really enjoyed your video. I'd love to give you loads of technical information but mine is limited to hit it with a hammer and see if it goes. I wish you well in your venture with restoring those bikes. You'll need more elbow grease than anything else. You should be able to make a nice quick profit on the Lexmoto, spend more time making it look good. Quick MOT and lots of polish.
@Valeman7689 thanks! I'm slowing learning my way through these machines, lexmoto will hopefully be sorted out in the next few days just waiting for some bits to arrive so I can fix them and give it a good clean up then onto the yamaha đ€

The Dragstar has a massive following and worth up to 4 grand depending on mileage, even the 125 Dragstars bring good money. Yes the lexmoto not worth it but that will pay for the offset on the dragster meaning when both bike's are done he's made good money.

I was very surprised it fired up almost straight away, I knew i would be able to get it running i just thought I might have needed to clean or replace the carb and add fresh fuel first đ
Put mot on it and sell it
I think it'll need a fair bit more work before it will pass an MOT but I'm wondering if it would be worth taking for one just to see how bad it fails đ€
â@SamsAutoAssortium Good call, nice info for the next owner if you plan to sell, and it it's minimal issues worth doing. Good luck.
@philtowle4683 I've ordered up a clutch cable and a lock set with ignition for it and I need to take a look at the indicator switches so I'll be doing that much at least and of course giving it a clean so we will see after then đ
Which auction were they from?
I think it was the one where Del Boy got rid of those broken lawn mower partsđ.
đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Does the Yamaha not need the chip that is normally in the key to start the bike ? Or is the bike too old for the chiped key that would normally imobilise the engine đ€
I think it's too old it's a 2001 so I think that only tends to be on newer models but I'm not totally sure tbh there's not a huge amount of info out there on these bikes đ
If you not sold the Lexmoto you very far from Ceredigion?
@glowskulls100 not sold it yet and I'm in that area alot as I'm a delivery driverdown that way đ
What did you endup getting a aftermarket ignition with cap & helmet lock in end i@@SamsAutoAssortium
I've ordered one for the lexmoto but nothing for the yamaha yet just some new coils to see if I can fix the no spark but I suspect now that it may not be the coils but I guess I'll find out once I fit them đ
â@@SamsAutoAssortium tried sending my email to you but seems like they get deleted in the comments Sam
@@glowskulls100 I'm just in the process of sorting out some branding and creating a Facebook page for the channel so people contact me easier than via the comments, I've actually sent for an ignition set and a clutch cable for the lexmoto so it won't be going anywhere just yet anyways đ
You would normally use the starter to check for spark so that the points or equivalent interrupt the coil current but if you disconnect the coil and then flash 12v across it a couple of times you will either see a spark at the plug or confirm the coil is dead.
Thanks I'll take a look at doing that I haven't really got alot of experience when I comes to testing electrical components so any advice goes a long way to helping me learn đ€
As a new subscriber i love the channel, great job with the bikes, look forward to seeing the Yamaha Running soon đđ»đ

Thanks đ€
For engines that use a CDI unit. Just remove the Earth wire (The ignition gets killed by grounding it out). The generator and the CDI unit itself does the rest. Hook the battery direct to the starter motor. To stop the engine. Stall the bike, or turn off the petrol.
Thanks I'll take a look at doing that, I may have be a bit premature in ordering new coils but I guess it's all trial and error đ đ€Ł
I would just add that to stop it you just reconnect the wire to stop engine running. Did this on an old GS 125.
