    I followed your method & man I'm glad i did my ps3 slim is running alot quieter now. The fan no longer sounds like a jet engine blowing out! Finally i can play games wit a normal sounding fan. I can hear the fan run fast when im near the console which is normal while playing TwistedMetal2012 but it's not as crazy loud as it was before. Thank you best thermal paste replacment!

    After opening the case, can you remove the fan, for cleaning, without removing the power supply? Great video! Thank you 🤓 also is there a Sony recommend thermal paste? And, have you attempted to make the "PS3" logo on the top cover lighted (say, with LED lights)? Thank you again

    Mi PS3 super slim was acting as if it has a broken WiFi module which was not the case because when i've upgraded (via pendrive) the system software to 4.89 voila! wireless internet conection was back... but and that's a big but... my perfectly functional and fully charged original controllers are not syncing (i'm using orignal USB cable)... any suggestions? i've already tried reseting the controllers with a clip.

    The thermal paste there on the RSX and CELL aren't the only ones you need to worry about. Those are actually just covers for the real CPU and GPU which are a tiny tiny shiny silver chips which are inside and those also need a compound replacement (a mercury-like compound). I don't know why you nor anybody ever talks about what's under those. I found out about those because my ps3 shuts down due to overheating in less than 30 seconds and after changing the thermal compound on the RSX and CELL and cleaning it cleaner than an elf's arsehole, it still does it.

    Anyone chime in here. Is this enough to fix a fat PS3 which always runs with fans high? Should I bother with copper shims? Is that necessary? Is it overkill? Can it cause issues? Am I better off just cleaning and replacing thermal paste and avoiding copper shims? I just replaced the thermal paste on my MacBook Pro and it has copper squares built into the heat sink.

  • @chadwickadams2778
    @chadwickadams2778 Před 3 lety

    About 50% of thermal paste videos show people spreading it. Some thermal paste comes with a spreader. You never mentioned why it’s not a good idea to spread it. Seems to me that by spreading it before you before you put it back on the heat sink ensures an even spread. Putting a glob on and then smushing it together does not ensure it’s spread evenly edge to edge. Spreading method seems more logical.

    You have absolutely zero proof that your method of applying the paste is the best, you're just parroting what you heard from someone else. Different machines have different mounting pressures and different pastes have different viscosity so you literally have no way to say what method spreads the paste the best.

    • @Saulram91
      @Saulram91 Před 5 lety

      @Fuck You found a pdf document from the company and they actually kinda recommend both. It says to spread on a very thin amount and then take some thing like a coffee filter and wipe off all excess. This way you worked the compound in to all the grooves. Then you do the dot method.
