    The world does not lack brains. There are many smart people, but few are wise. College professors are often bright, well-read, and full of knowledge, yet most are fools, and they do a lot of damage. Wisdom is everything-we need it now more than ever, but how do we get it?

    Exactly. "Knowledge" without *wisdom* is worse than worthless, it's almost always *evil.*

    Wisdom and intelligence are two entirely distinct human qualities. To use a modern analogy, intelligence is like a computer’s processor speed; wisdom is the quality of its software; knowledge is what’s stored on the hard drive.

    I think it's emotional maturity that is the problem, not lack of wisdom. They teach the opposite of stoicism in schools, it's all about listening to your feelings.

      @jerrycote1661 Před 23 dny

      Yes but stoicism can be very cold. Stoic doctors kill their patients with regularity now, starkly during covid.

      Talk to any counselor and they will tell you that your feelings can betray you. Wisdom is an effective and appropriate use of knowledge. A person can be emotionally mature but lack the knowledge to make a wise decision.

      @@dlsdyer9071 You lost me at your first four words, emotional maturity is emotional awareness and control. If you have that, you have clarity, this enables you to make the best decision.

      @@BrynneMuir I think wisdom comes from life experience, your willingness to learn from your mistakes, and the ability to admit we all know very little.
      I agree that your ability for self-reflection, self analysis, and critique is something that can be improved over time, so wisdom does help.
      To me, I define emotional maturity as a goal that I am continually trying to reach, my initial comment is directed to what is being pushed into our schools to our children and the young adults in college.
      They are intelligent but they are not being taught anything that will help them began on their path to emotional maturity, in fact it is just the opposite, they are being taught that their feelings define themselves, are meant to drive their decisions, and that they are not responsible for their actions.
      As a result, they lack any emotional awareness, control, or true empathy, this comes from the self-centered notion that their feelings are what matter the most.

    Criminality in South Africa is a huge problem. With an average of 77 murders per day one has to be extremely vigilant every day. The ANC government is in fact a government government formed by terrorism.

    I came here for the title thinking it would be about what I was thinking. My question is, do protesting students have the right to not get doxxed? I saw a video of a protester keeping someone out of a public place they had taken over and she was saying they had a right to not be identified and linked with their actions. The student protesters are our smartest but, is it wise to do things you fear being held accountable for?

    You've been betrayed by your rabbis fathers. If you think Saturday's the 7th day of the week. You have not done your homework. You're wasting your time writing books but right under your nose you can't even get the Sabbath, correct.
