I poked the Internet and Lee Ping Fei's actor, Carter Wong, is the actor who played Thunder in "Big Trouble In Little China"! How cool is that? I knew he looked familiar. This is a throwback to the glory days of old school kung fu epics that ended as soon as the final fight was over because they got to the point and got out while the getting was good. Bad dubbing and all, which is part of the charm of the whole thing. Thanks for sharing this one!
@Varity Topic IKR? The guy’s 500 years old and has been training since he was 12. Maybe younger. Dudes like this catch bullets in their teeth, spit them back at you and kill you…
can't no one tell me that's not the legendary Pai Mei with the white eyebrow... he appears in multiple movies with different names but it's the same character/ person...
They are all actually based on the same legend of Bak Mei / Pai Mei and are different interpretations of the same character. This character was later used in Kill Bill, but is an homage to the original Pai Mei of Chinese movies. Aside from similar appearance, they also have similar stories such as some altercation with Shaolin monks and responsible for their killing. And having a palm-attack technique that kills the opponent after they take a certain number of steps.
it's not the same character all the time, the white haired kung fu masters are either taoist monks based on lao tse (white/black robes and the ocassional ying yang) or simply old men depicted as such, that look is really old and not just an invention, watch the movie invincible armor to see two ''pai meis'' fighting, they are actually brothers and disciples of the same style.
Then when the movies were over we were all outdoors again and everyone knew kung-fu. All you would hear is WAAA PISH WAAA PISH we were kicking and chopping at one another. Those were the good times!
In the early’70s, I used to go to Chinatown L.A. to watch the Shaw Brothers’ movies. I always got a (if you pardon the pun) kick out of these long outdoor fight scenes before sunscreen was invented. You could tell they took a long time to film because the actors would get more and more sunburned as it went on.
I basically lived in the theaters in downtown Baltimore in the same time period for the same reason. Saturdays during summer vacation…time for some kung fu!
@@mrtaheem Yes, that’s where I went. I drove in from Orange County. Sometimes it was standing room only, and occasionally it was sold out and we’d return the next day, I also went to the Pagoda theater in Chinatown a few times. Once they showed a 3-D Kung Fu movie there. That was fun.
@@eds.r.5226 I used to watch on Saturdays to when I was a little kid but I told myself I would never forget John Liu name!! And now over a thousand Kung Fu CDs later. Lol.
Oh boy back in the day all of this the old school kung fu movies should be on one of the major networks NBC, CBS, ABC EVEN FOX, back in the late 70"s early 80's i was maybe 10yo growing up in Milwaukee Wis go downtown sat afternoon i think 1pm cinema 1 & 2, cinema 1 would show 3 kung fu movies $2 to get in and watch these movies every single movie come out, use be ready to show your skills, back then being strapped, mom mad because the broom mop handles gone took them to make nun chucks,u always kept in your socks under your pants legs u got knotts on your forehead practicing, 1 star in your back pocket u dont want to use cause u only got 1 but u will in case u winning a fight and my kung fu style i saw the movie twice in one week the fighting style was the grasshopper using that style and person take off running away? Back then that was being strapped no kind of guns fortunately never got into with anyone, also to all the old school kung fu fans that reads this that remember the Movie the name? Or the guys names that used grasshopper kung fu not not the guy that did the the tv show David carriden u
Did he just do the Raiden Superman move at 8:56? Even the sound effects seem similar, so I wonder if the original Mortal Kombat game got it from this (or similar movies).
Even as a kid I couldn't stand the stupidity if these movies. The complete lack of acting skills, nonexistent directorial talent, Zero budget make up, ludicrous fight choreography, the bizarre zooming in and zooming out for no reason. They were made to entertain illiterate peasants and the Shaw Brothers made a mountain of money from their fecal factory.
Is it me or is the male in the white uniform the same guy that played in Big Trouble in Little China as one of the three crazy ass bad guys ( other than the main baddie)? I’m thinking he was the leader of the three, the one who ends up blowing up his head.
Who is the actress at the end coming in the horse carriage in official royal dress ? Is she Shen Shi-Hua or Ping-Ping Chang ? She is adorable, i totally melted for her cuteness.
I remember as kids we were outside playing and the 12:00 whistle or siren would sound. It seemed like the whole neighborhood would turn into a ghost town and we would all be inside our house or a friend's house watching the Kung fu flicks.

One thing for certain: if some guy with long white hair and serious eye brows and wants to fight you, you’re in very deep💩💩☠️

Yeah! My first reaction was "Uh-oh, it's Pai Mei! He's DOOMED."
Early 80’s Saturday morning matinee, those were the good old days!!!
They still come on The El Rey network.
Kung Fu theater was Sunday where I Iived.

Black Belt Theater is the one that I remember. It was on Saturday afternoon.

yes. pai mei is one of the four kungfu inventors or something like that and he became a villan, so he is in a lot of movies, often the villan.

Could be wrong but the male hero is one of the supernetural fighters from Big Trouble in Little China...
Yes the one who blows himself up....!

Seems one of the good guys uses a weapon very similar to a sai during the final fight. Thought it was okinawan only

That 2D Guy Is You Instructer.
The kung fu cheese is strong with this one. XD
Carter Wong eventually found Big Trouble in Little China with a thunderous role.
I can handle getting old IF I can have the white eyebrows hanging to my jawline and the ability to kick ass…!
Pai Mai is going to kick ass!

Now I realize where the arcade game Final Fight got a lot of the audio files used in the game.
What? Could you write the time stamp?
It’s just the general punching and kicking noises, and occasionally a grunt or two sounds familiar

Why do they always kill someone in their Kung-Fu movies? Can't they start making dramas and comedies with Kung-Fu stants?
LAUGHABLE
Someone needs to select Blanka and sort this shit out...
This looks so ridiculously fake it's hard to watch. I can't believe this used to be considered entertaining...
Then go watch some fake ass CGI computer game looking shit.
Realistic and entertaining aren't the same thing
That girl in the Royal outfit did the most damage to Pai Mei lite than all of them: maybe she should be the next master of Shaolin!
