Mary is a treasure but down to earth and very much fun. I always learn something from her. Hope her eyes continue to twinkle with delight of the young soul she is.
USA 🇺🇸 Missouri here. I absolutely love Mary Berry. I bought her cookbook on desserts, and have been working my way through it. My grandson just turned 16 and his favorite dessert ever is Mary Berry’s, berry pavlova, he even made it for his FFA (future farmers of America) project. He’s asked for this dessert since he was 10. Thank you Ms. Berry!
Mary was very gracious about that Pan and the haunted bride Christmas tree. Her conversations could be shown in schools as examples of how to be friendly and make others feel well about themselves and their work even when you find it an odd choice. Diplomacy, so very British!
@@kathrynriggs2489 I thought those were extremely "odd" choices. I have had sons and I can tell you, it's an extremely "different" boy who dreams about his mother's wedding dress. Daughters don't even do that anymore. And the Pan structure was extremely odd - why not something of the Holy Family?
@@Varykino1917 I'm not sure why they veered away from the normal Christmas themes, which would have been gorgeous with all that talent on board. Angels if nothing else would have been lovely. While the Pan display was extremely creative, I would have placed it in the garden. My boys would have been dreaming about the gifts under the tree and hoping that their wishes were granted as would my daughter. And none of them would have thought about anyone's wedding dress, let alone mine which I didn't have. A nativity can be easily incorporated into any theme. I'm just going to go with It's not for everyone ( including myself) and be polite about others creations.
I am awed by old homes. The history and beauty of that era is really something. Its amazing to try to understand how they lived in those times. Storing the carrots, decoration on the woodwork. Its something of beauty that's beyond definition or description. Frankly, I am so awed by this, I think I must have been living at that time, and have been reborn. All the gingerbread, Mary's recipes make for wonderful nostalgia. Those days of beautiful homes and elegant dinners. Beautiful video, nostalgic and very very interesting.
It makes me realize how much artistry has been lost when building homes today. Even the homes that cost a couple of million still don't have the character of those older homes. The woodwork was exquisite
What a lovely home and garden! I especially enjoyed and admired the story of the Christmas boxes given to those who risked their very lives for love of country and freedom for all. And that glorious Twelth Night Cake- yum!
I knew of Mary Berry's cooking before I knew of her baking. (I always kinda wondered what brought her to the Great British Bake-Off.) Well, now I know. The casual way she tosses off the dishes bespeak her decades as a doyenne of the British culinary world. This programme was a delight, start to finish!
The wealthy generally do put on a lovely show at Christmas! Professional help is essential and it is a treat beyond imagination to see it all!!!We all get to enjoy the huge historic rooms dressed in their festive tailored finery!!! Mary’s delightful conversation, culinary knowledge makes us all so proud to be British!!!
I first came to know Mary Berry when she was one of two judges on The British Baking Contest Show , I admired her then . The Christmas decorations were simply gorgeous and like being in a wonderland !! The cakes and pastries looked so beautiful, the Hors d’oeuvres and cookies had to all be so Delicious and Yummy - I saw the guest faces as they took bites 😋😃😊 they were overwhelmed with tasty delightfullness !!!! Oh I would wish I were there too and sampling those amazing edible decorations 😋🥳🤩🧑🏻🎄🎅🏼🎄🎁
I am glad that they acknowledge the dark underside of these grand houses. I love the beauty of the house but it is dimmed by knowing that many human beings suffered in slavery to make this affluence possible.
What a wonderful show done by Mary Berry and once again shows how the British in hard times pulled together to overcome the challenges they faced. Something that needs to happen now. They need to as a people don't depend on the government they are joshing it up.
It is very sad that Pan is celebrated instead of Jesus Christ. The one who came down from Heaven to die for our sins. This is no reflection on precious Mary Berry. She had nothing to do with that. She is such a delight! I love her so.
A fantastic Christmas documentary from our English Treasure Mary Berry. A really well told story of the Estate and cooking combined. Look forward to more from other English Estates with Mary Berry. Love the relaxing classical music, allows for multiple viewings. Well done to all involved!!! 👍👍👍🇬🇧
@@serenitypeaceandcomfort3669 Perhaps Jesus is the purpose of the season now, but in terms of origin, Christmas was birthed directly from Saturnalia. The holiday was eventually reinvented as a family-friendly holiday in the 1800’s.
Regarding the parsnip batter appetizer, we Chinese have a similar turnip cake appetizer for dim sum. Grated turnip shreds go into rice flour batter. There's nothing like cheese or pear on top though. It has no topping but can be paired with XO sauce.
Absolutely stunning. Nice to see what the horrors of human chattel slavery bought one! Love Mary Berry. I'm glad the guide acknowledged where the funding for such opulence came from.
Two things destroyed my childhood. One, people couldn't actually live on clouds and two, mince pies didn't have mince in them......glad to see one of these issues is being rectified
I appreciate All Documentary for posting all these docs, but 360p is _appalling_ resolution. Can't this video at _least_ be in 480p? Even that is base level rez quality nowadays.
I'm a Venezuelan with an Italian half of my blood and at least 25% of British origin. This is something I just discovered this, thanks to an DNA test my mother had. So I could verify, just watering my mouth, watching the delicious recipes being made in this video! Specially the Lamb Meat Pies!!!! Glorious!!!
WHY do these videos not have CC for those of us that need it to understand what is being said, because our hearing is bad????? PLEASE add CC so that we might fully enjoy these videos.
What young boys fantasize of a tree decorated with a vast train of their mum's wedding gown?! How very Oedipal! The large pagan Pan at a Christmas tableau?? The designer was trippier than Carnaby Street in the LSD Sixties.
Mary Berry is total traditional class. She creates beauty rooted in things we’ve always loved.especially at Christmas. Hmm, my opinion means nothing but the ‘Christmas’ theme the designer has chosen, had nothing to do with Christmas whatsoever. Very creepy and disappointing. Maybe for a different party but far from a Christmas theme. I suppose he was trying to be hip but it seemed completely out of place, especially in a older traditional home.
Never heard a word about Christmas being the birth of the Savor of the world and why that might be important to know about. Some how you can't take all that fancy stuff with you. Jesus said he is preparing a place for you that you can't imagine. So if this lovely stuff is appealing take it step further. Mary understands the gift she received and lover her culinary knowledge. Lets get a match for pan too.
Thank you volunteers for keeping the British culture alive.
Lovely program! Keep British culture alive and thriving
lol like it hasn’t?😂
Mary is a treasure but down to earth and very much fun. I always learn something from her. Hope her eyes continue to twinkle with delight of the young soul she is.
Mary Berry is a national treasure! So elegant and beautiful. I love her recipes and the series on country houses!
We Americans love Mary too

At least Simon explained where he pulled his ideas from, even if it's a bit different ( feel free to read different as odd).

It was unquestionably horrid and sacrilegious
I love the story of the Christmas gift boxes given to those who served in World War 1.

Hello My happy nest
Love Mary Berry. She is my favorite. So happy I got to see this. Thanks for posting. 😊 😁
Nobody does Christmas as elegantly as Mary Berry! This was lovely - from the music to the food to the video. Very festive and nicely done.
Hmmm... no. Have you been to the Biltmore Estates in Asheville, North Carolina in the United States of America?
The house is beautiful ,but that garden . ♥️oh that had my heart !
Pan at Christmas ?? That’s like for a midsummer nights dream . Summer
I don't mind watching the Christmas special because I love Mary Berry. She is preseving past traditions with love.
Thank you for this lovely Christmas tour. Watching Mrs Berry make those lamb pies, and fruit cake was just mesmerizing.
What a lovely home and garden! I especially enjoyed and admired the story of the Christmas boxes given to those who risked their very lives for love of country and freedom for all. And that glorious Twelth Night Cake- yum!
Oh how I have missed this lady. Mary miss you bunches.
It was exciting to see the fruitcake being made. My mother made one every year like that… but not as decorated as this one was. Beautiful
Wow! The ‘drapes/swags’ were actually carved from wood and are not fabric, designed/made by Chippendale. Amazing!
Words fail me for the awful dream stuff. Love Mary Berry, love Harewood House

Fabulous! Living in Spain and not feeling very festive - this is just the ticket!
Very elegantly Mary Berry and her Christmas!
How glorious! Everything about this house is spectacular! Thanks Mary ❤
I had to google what "black treacle" is. Black strap molasses is very familiar, i grew up with both my parents cooking with it!

Thank you for uploading this! 💞💞💞
Thank you for sharing! I enjoyed seeing this a great deal! Love the history lessons too!
Ahh I've miss Mary Berry and her class.
Hello Munchel
Love Mary Berry! Such a wonderful video. Loved the history and everything about this beautiful home. Thank you so much for sharing!
Mary Berry is a wonderful person.
Pickled walnuts!!! My husband introduced me to them. They are not easy to find. It is delightful to hear them used with the Yorkshire pie.

I felt the same way !
I agree. The creepy pan statue was a disappointment. There should have been something to celebrate the birthday of Jesus-the reason for the holiday.

I got the feeling that Ms. Berry didn’t quite know what to say about all of the Pan displays.

I have always wanted a country manor. Maybe in another life
Wow! Only just found this, and I love it. So lovely and relaxing. Twelfth Night is still forthcoming.
Happy New Year & a Merry Berry Christmas! 🥂⛄
Ona jest fenomenalna moja ulubienica!!!
She is phenomenal, my favorite!!! (google translate)
Harewood-House was the Place where the only Aunt of the late Queen lived. The former Princess Royal Mary, Countess of Harewood.
I loved every moment!
So nice to see how life was back..in that time

Everything was so beautiful and special except the odd willow idol. That part was weird and unwarranted.
Loved the illuminati undertones. Owl collection, hubbys pet name " your owl'. Pan significance.. please..
I can’t help but watch this with disdain and contempt
For these people.
I am ambivalent
It’s all very beautiful except many people suffered as enslaved people to make it all possible
Why are you watching them ???? Are you a professional victim ??

Can you imagine Mary Berry as your grandma?
American here, so I have no idea what treacle or baking spread are but I don't care because it's Mary.
Would not be surprised if Collection Assistant Rebecca Burton is a descendant of Princess Mary. They look very much alike!
I certainly wish to be there ❤❤❤
