For those who don't know, Malfeasance with its catalyst is working as intended but you just won't see the Vorpal Weapon activation on screen.
What's funny is it activates on graviton lance and its a catalyst perk.

Vorpal + Range is unironically the best thing they could've put on this thing.
I love it so much. It was already one of my favorites to put with lucky pants just because it was so easy to handle given the mag size, stability, and the fire rate. But now with this catalyst I find myself whipping out my lucky pants build a lot more often despite how niche it can be.
I almost popped a lil chub when I learned about the range bump. This goes back to my main crucible gun

Vorpal is such a good perk for malfeasance, but I’m honestly still a bit disappointed it wasn’t that Big Boom perk that was in the API
Bigger explosions = always better
You see that would have made hunters ever slightly less shit than they are and edge a little bit closer to the insane power houses titans now are or the insane powerhouses in pve that warlocks where with starfire and still are now with vorpal necrotic osteo striga. And we can't have that because bungie fucking hates hunter and has hated them for about two years now.

Just wanted to point out something I never see during test runs: there's a stasis fragment called Whisper of Rending, which increases the damage dealt using primary weapons on frozen targets. Using this in combo with the Silence and Squall super/a couple of duskfield nades grants continuous freeze (fragment procs) and shatter damage. Just to make a point, this same build using Whish-Ender deals Arbalest-level damage on crits. [Also remember that primary exotics deal more damage by default]
And also the whitering blade reload...
I think the issue here is, does the bonus damage from rending exceed the damage from other supers like gathering Storm or blade barrage or Golden gun.
@@rhouxfang4172 No, it doesn't, I wasn't very specific in making my point. I see boss DPS as a good mean to benchmark the overall damage potential of a gun/build, but I think that an exotic primary such as Malfeasance is better suited for other enviroments such as GM nightfalls, where you want as much damage as you can as often as possible (eg gaining the bonus on multiple champions thanks to freeze provided by grenades/melees that you get multiple times much faster than your super). In a raid boss enviroment you're 100% right, super burst dps>>>damage gained via running revenant for the fragment bonus
Theme wise vorpal was a perfect choice being a Gambit handcannon since vorpal is effective against the the Taken bosses in gambit and potentially Invaders in super
lore wise, it's also a banger because malfeasance was created to kill a hunter using golden gun

@@NFZKAZE bro someone tested it’s DPS, and it does more damage than exotic heavy weapon, around 1.2-1.4 million damage, and it’s a GODDAMN Kinetic weapon, *KINETIC* weapon. It’s crazy how much damage this thing is busting out, but it’s only specifically useful for Hunter tho, because of Lucky Pants. I doubt it’ll even hit 900k on Titan/Warlock

Thorn REALLY needs a catalyst. I want to use it so bad but it sucks for an exotic HC. Yeah it got a 20 percent damage buff and with necrotic grips it does decent damage, but it’s stats are ass and it’s not fair that malfeasance gets an Intrinsic champion perk AND a caty but not Thorn.
Give it a catalyst that gives it at least 60 range because it’s range is ass, bump the clip size up to 12 and give it intrinsic overload champion rounds. The new perk added could make the remnants track to you from farther away and so the poison damage is increased even more when you pick them up.

Now I'm wondering how it would do with a team of 5 malfs and 1 witherhoard. Ally slugs count for the explosion counter, right? So it would detonate way quicker and dps would go up. Hi, Cross!
Absolutely! I'm kind of shocked it was never mentioned here. Maybe 4 of the 6 run Malf, and the other two run witherhoard\Lumina.
The explosions occur after the same amount of rounds, so although the explosions will happen faster with more people, you'll get the same amount of damage between 4 people shooting at once when paired with 1 person shooting 4x as long

@@acknowledge1917 if the explosions are proccing faster and more shots are being fired you’ll get mroe explosions overall which equates to more dps bro
Every 5 bullets is an explosion. If I shoot 20 shots I get 4 explosions. If five of us all shoot 20 shots we get 20 explosions. The damage and overall DPS with five people is just 5x what one person does.
Did you know, if you tether some enemies you can stack the lucky pants buff faster by shooting one of the tethered enemies, which will grant you a stack for each enemy tethered. If you have a weapon that over penetrates targets you can double dip. Hitting two tethered enemies with one shot grants 4 stacks and so on. This make tether hunter with an ap rounds or seraph rounds handcannon potentially the greatest dps luckypants can achieve!
IMPORTANT PSA another tech!!! You can actually just make two loadouts, one with seventh seraph and boss speck, the other with extended mag. Just start reloading, click the extended mag loadout, once you hear the click of the mag being put into the gun, click on the loadout with boss speck again.
This means that you don't really need 4th times the charm in some situations: there could be some 180 rolls that could potentially deal more damage than this seventh seraph roll this way. I haven't tested with the DIM app because the bungie servers are trash rn(smh), but if this works you could just tap a couple buttons on your phone while reloading to get both and use something without 4th times the charm and better consistency. Guys let's find that roll.

I just tested it and i could consistently get a 19 rounds seventh seraph boss speck by just standing still using the inventory during the reload time, you can probably just do it before a dps phase or even if you have some good cover to sit behind for a bit, unless they are planning to add something. You don't loose ammo or super charge and there are no load times since you are using the same guns

@@WaveOfDestiny he’s talking about the firing animation delay when switching loadout in-game (since it’s the fastest) , have you been missing out on this year or something because nobody ever use DIM or Destiny mobile app to switch loadout anymore , except for extensions of loadout outside of the activity , but mostly for important quick swap between loadout like what you’re saying is done through the in-game new loadout switcher , and Bungie nerfed it by giving us 2 second delay because they couldn’t fix an exploit regarding Fourth Horseman , typically for Bungie to apply a duct tape fix for everything rofl

Don’t forget disruption break on autos this season for champions. Would be nasty after breaking the shield and switching to Malfesance.
Vorpal is the shove in the right direction that Malfeasance needed in every single way! It's even MORE ideal for gambit now, super shutdowns are going to be a lot more consistent in the Crucible, any boss affected by the right debuffs is going to get melted by it and the range bump puts it firmly in the "extremely user friendly" category. 10/10 catalyst, whoever gave it this these specific benefits was clearly doing their homework
This hand cannon is cracked. Used it day 1 of dungoen to help out with boss DPS.
Crimson's healing factor is one of the reasons I had been taking it over Malfeasance prior to Season 21. The damage Malfeasance has over Crimson now though might cause me to reconsider.

Love this gun. I found out it had a catalyst by showing it off to my friend. I opened its perk screen to show it to her, saw the catalyst slot at the bottom, and promptly lost my mind. 😂❤

Storm’s overcharge shots don’t stack with Lucky Pants, so there’s a specific amount of overcharge shots that you want in order to get the most damage from it. It’s somewhere around 5-7 I think.
Really gets me thinking about what will be done with Wish Ender...

Cross, you gotta do 6 malfeasance, 1 well, 1 tether. malf bullets stack with other players using it, so you'd get so many explosions

Luck Pants should give hand Canons that have bonus damage rounds (Ace, Sturm, Hawkmoon, ext.) the 30% damage stacks that Eriana's Vow has while those extra damage rounds are active.

I have a reconstruction roll on my seventh seraph, it's better then 4th time and what's nice is it will proc lucky pants when over full so I just put it away sometimes without reloading
I got the catalyst on Saturday in my first crucible match of the week I was very surprised I got it then I realized mal never had a catalyst and then I was super hype! I’m almost done doing it, I haven’t played in a few days I’m finishing it today for sure

There is 2 more hand cannons I would like to see tested 1. Ikelos HC with triple tap and vorpal + volatile rounds. 2. Spare rations rapid hit kinetic tremors (curious if KT gets buffed from LP)

I think my personal favorite way to DPS with malfeasance would be to consume threadling grenade before phase, throw a necrotic grip needle to proc unravel and poison dot. Then throw needlestorm then round it out with malfeasance DPS. I don't care what anyone says. If a well is already available strand is top tier burst DPS when set up correctly. Especially with the unravel damage artifact mod this season.
so for any of you who didnt know, multiple people shooting one enemy with malfeasance will proc the explosions sooner. so if 5 people shoot it one time then the explosions will proc meaning that the more people you have using it, the more dps you'll individually do. Im curious to see damage 5 hunters and a warlock could do with this info

SSOR has Reconstruction Vorpal, which negates the need for backup mag. But only on rolls post Season of Seraph.
So basically malfeasance with catalyst is better than a lot of supers in the game.
Yes. Lucky Pants and any 180 HC with Vorpal does around 450k damage, more than maybe half the supers on base damage. The explosions on Malf stack with Vorpal and that's the cherry on top
Lower dps than instant supers bc takes entire damage phase
@@koiboi1676 some of the highest damage supers are roaming supers that take the entire damage phase to do >500k damage. So seems like a burst damage super and this would only about equal a top damage super at best.

Malfeasance catalyst is cracked! They even managed to keep it reasonably able to be considered lore-consistent; While we know by this point that Gambit is/ was basically a front run by Drifter to both introduce the concept of "using Darkness" to the Guardian community of the City in a (vaguely) controlled environment and to weed out those who'd be corrupted by it so Shin could more easily identify them and hunt them down, the lore tab does allude to the idea that the gun's made/ sold as an "Anti-Shin Malphur" weapon should the need arise:
"And all of us, with this in hand? Even the Man with the Golden Gun should have pause.
Maybe we can't out-shoot him. Maybe he can't be out-shot. But if we all take our shot together? We don't have to beat him to it.
He'll die, too."
Considering how Shin's so famous for using Golden Gun, to the point it's the identifying part of his epithet, along with what we see of his victim's remains in the quest to build Malfeasance, it can be reasonably assumed that Shin uses GG a LOT in combat, at least when hunting shadows/ rogue lightbearers. In other words, if he ever confronted you (you being any given guardian), he'd likely use/ already be in his super, and that means vorpal weapons would get a damage bonus against him. GG already has some of the lowest damage resistance among roamers as is, so he's not getting much to offset the vorpal bonus either.
So the catalyst makes the gun more effective when Shin's using his signature technique, and this is on top of the pre-existing explosive slugs trait that would explode if enough are shot into him even if they're shot from different copies of Malfeasance.
Honestly don't know if there's any perks that would've fit better, things like triple tap would've been less fitting since the lore for it was basically "you probably won't get many shots in before he vaporises you, but the few you do get will hurt and will contribute towards his death when someone else gets their shots in".

RNG was kind to me for once and I got it in my first strike. The gun is still sat in my vault atm waiting for that day when I finally get around to trying out one of those lucky pants builds.

There was a rumor going around a few years ago that the catalyst was going to cause a super explosion after causing enough explosive shadow explosions.
I got it yesterday playing Gambit.
I got it just today I remembered waiting on meatball to spawn for this weapon it was so hard at the time.. took forever
The new best 7th Seraph is Reconstruction Vorpal. Reconstruction fully stacks is more ammo than there is a damage window for Lucky Pants.

When hawkmoon becomes craftable I hope to god it gets vorpal as an extra perk option
Both hawkmoon and DMT are supposed to be craftable at some point so some new perks in the pool would be great
Hopefully thorn catalyst is next. I think it should grant soul devour on melee kills since it already has synergy with those warlock gauntlets.
Catalyst just need to give Thorn a bump in stats like many catalyst do

I think Sturm could have done a bit better because I think there were one or two shots that did less than Sturm's boosted shots, so if you precharged 3-4 shots, the front end will be stronger than what Lucky Pants can provide on the front end.
i got the catty from a normal strike run on the second run after season 21 started
I have had that exact 7th seraph for years and after lucky pants got buffed I used it instead of malf because of its better damage and it freed up an exotic slot. Now that malf has vorpal, it's not going in the vault but it's not my go to anymore

It looks like thorn did more of the templar's health but did less on the numbers then seraph revolver.
For optimal DPS testing, sentinel banner shields weapons of light is a 40% weapons buff.

i got the catalyst day 1 while grinding gambit(i know im weird) and ive been using it basically since unlocking it. malf with lucky pants and 3x kinetic mods on it gave me 1.7m dps with it alone on nezzy. shits nasty
Sturm and hawkmoon should stack with lucky pants because you have to make some pretty big sacrifices to make them work good
Cata Malfy+Lucky Pants+all the kinetic mods x3+tether+well+witherhoard. Using all that I was doing like 2mil to Greg the Ogre. I then got a 3 friend to pop tractor and I threw in Gathering Storm and got like 2.5m. It was so fun.
only 6-7m in and I gotta say this. lucky pants builds now I saw everybody using crimson and that as the best gun to use with it, but I tried it with malf a few weeks ago (before the cat.) and saw it way better, been using it a TON, love that hC.
Gotta finish that cat. Just got it yesterday or the day before. Lotsa kills to get it activated.
Sturm & Drang looks like 5 Overcharge shots would be optimal and adds about 12.5k damage but obviously doesn't really move the needle that much. Still, if it comes up in the future and Sturm can stack with Lucky Pants, storing 5 shots would be the way to go.
I have run about a hundred strikes now and the only caty that has dropped was rat kings. I really want malfeasences! 😭
