I’d love to see Valve really experiment with this system and add some cool stuff to it. I think Dota needs a secondary progression system outside of MMR (grinding MMR is very sweaty and doesn’t serve the more casual unraked players), and it shows in the data as well because the player numbers are off the roof right now. I’m excited how this thing turns out and what the next acts have to offer.
I loved the cavern crawls and this is just straight up a big improvement on that formula. Valve adding some meat on the bones, lore-wise, is also great to see.
Despite all the people crying on reddit, this is the first time in a long time that I pulled a 12 game day, the new cavern crawl is really good and I am looking forward to the remaining acts

@@flin5557 If you're tryharding in ranked, what do updates matter in the slightest? If grinding MMR is why you play the game then stale meta or boredom should be non-issues.
@@whatdothlife4660 the point is, if u good enough, u will adapt to new patch way faster than others and can enjoy destroying others with ur own new strategy, but now all the best meta heroes/itembuilds have discovered, every one can just copy them, for this reason we see same heroes in every game, boring...
Was I expecting ringmaster and a big gameplay patch? Yes. Did I get disappointed by crownfall? No. I absolutely love what Valve did with this and what they layed out. Since I'm big cavern crawl enjoyer it's basically like a small gameplay patch for me. The work they've put into this update is insane everyday I just find something new about this that's absolutely awesome and I think that Dota has a really bright future ahead with these things. Obviously I'm expecting Icefrog to be cooking a massive patch in the meantime.
I was initially disappointed by the update simply because I think it was implied that we would get gameplay changes, but this is my favorite event/battle pass thing they've done yet. I can only speak from my perspective, but being 7400 mmr makes playing unranked with my lower ranked friends sometimes frustrating. The fact that you get progress in something on losses makes it easier for everyone to have fun in the games where we run into multiple top 2k immortals and get rolled. We're generally not a toxic group, but even then I've noticed less toxicity in most of my games thanks to this system; dota doesn't have to be zero sum. There's some big lessons to be learned here
Love the update. People hating on it because they had a huge patch expectation like the "New Frontiers" Patch. If we had another big patch, Dota will outpace itself and feel like league of legends. Crownfall is a good event with good storyline. Enjoy it while valve still gives a shit about us insufferable cunts.
as i gamer who never give a shit about cosmetics m pretty bummed out. not to mention people now doing challenges in ranked. so good time for me to take a break till new gameplay update comes. i really wish valve gave up this IP to a dedicated team of devs who gives a fck about game . at this point its clear dota is just a obligation for them than a passion project and i double icefrog is still working there to direct the ship. atleast with dota being stale i been introduced to great games like baldurs gate 3 etc whicch i am sinking all my dota hours into. about time i get my golden dice :D its a blessing in disguise for me i suppose.
My only disappointment was a lack of a new game mode to play. I really enjoyed when jungle coliseum was a thing. Dont really enjoy turbo but I really enjoy the idea of a quicker game mode for dota.

Agreed, those sweaty unranked immortal stacks can be frustrating to play against, but this sort of thing helps a lot
