Great vid and indicative of why Murray is the finest youtuber of this genre, you had more information in that 15 minutes than the others do combined and secondly he's never sold out, flogging this that and the other. Unmissable content.

I tried it a few weeks ago. From the moment I came out of the woods I was in the clouds. The wind was blowing, the visibility was about 30 meters and after the first summit the raincover of my backpack came of 3 times and needed my sticks to stay up on my feet. So I decided it would be saver to turn around.
So it is nice to see your walk up to the summit.

I love the Galloway names. I've had lunch on the Rig of the Jarkness and crossed the Buckdas of Cairnbaber. When I climbed Kirrereoch and Tarfessock (recommended) I realised why the Awful Hand is so named - the hills look like giant fingers or knuckles.

Great video and a good hill. We did it pre-covid and had a wet day from Benyellary onwards. The Bothy was in a a poor state and the path through the woods was quite slippery, I seem to remember. I did an MTB bikepack trip round the Galloway Forest last year and had much better views. Thanks for sharing.

Great day out Murray. Really enjoyed the classic video takes. The Merrick been on the list for me a long time yet still havent got there, despite living in the Scottish Borders for years. I recommend the Moffat and Tweedsmuir hills, White Coomb, Carrifran and Hart Fell, from Gameshope. You pass through Rotten Bottom, so some cracking names there too. The other direction takes you to Broad law from Talla almost as high as the Merrick. Or there is Culter Fell and Hangingstone Hill near Biggar !. My local fells and great days out. You can go all day without seeing a soul...and the views are vast there too on a clear day.
