A train that runs through a major resort! Welcome to the Marriott Momi Bay

  • It has been a deeply frustrating week. According to Murphy's Law, "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong." It all went pear-shaped for me! I was preparing to upload a vlog on the Fijian Drua versus The Chiefs rugby match I attended last Saturday only to discover that I somehow managed to lose the first part of the footage and then when I examined what was left I realised there was a huge smudge across the lens and the subsequent footage was blurry. So I thought I would make amends by going out to the Momi Bay Historical Park containing several large gun emplacements erected during the Second World War just in case the Japanese Imperial Army invaded Fiji. You may remember in a vlog last January I had wanted to visit it back then only to be told it was still closed because of the Covid pandemic. Well, I decided to try again on Wednesday...and it was closed...again! This time the electricians were in. Of course, this being Fiji there was nothing on the internet to inform me of the closure. It can be a bit hit-and-miss visiting historical sites in Fiji sometimes. However, I wasn't about to give up. What did I do? I decided to pay the Marriott Resort Momi Bay a visit; a hotel as serene as it is well-appointed. I took it all in: the sand, the surf, the ease of life, and dreamed that one day when I become a CZcams star, I might stay there for a few days and afford a pricy meal! Keep dreaming, Azeem, keep dreaming!

Those rail tracks are to cart sugar canes to the refinery. The are only used during the cane crushing season.

  • @dimereseininrobbyravouvou2855

Marriott is new resort it was built in SDL time the investor came to Fiji and loaned from FNPF plenty trouble it did not open. The investor ran away again. So Marriot came in just few years really. The sugarcane locomotive tramline they use it for years to transport harvested sugar cane to Lautoka Sugar mills.
