This guy's voice is so calming, it's almost like a car enthusiast's bedtime story with comedy.
I concur. I find myself watching until the end of all Tedward videos (which I don’t do often on other videos). It does help a bit that I’m also a CW FL5 owner 😂.
i dont get why they dont sell Civic Si's in europe, looks better than many same-class cars.. like 3.-series bmws or a4 for example .
They didn’t teach me how to merge but to be fair I grew up in a small town in New Hampshire that didn’t really have highways. Then at age 18 I moved to Austin Texas and learned to merge real quick lol. Definitely a pet peeve of mine when people try to merge 20-30 under the speed limit! Like you got the whole on ramp and then some to get up to speed let’s go!
i love these videos where you just get in your car and talk, they improve my day, thank u tedward
my heart goes out to the friends and family of the chevy cruze i hope they find peace in these troubling times
Honestly love this channel, I also appreciate the advice videos as a fellow young guy starting his career too.
I love watching the type r vids. It’s my dream car right now and I’m trying my hardest to get one by this year or next year. Tedward convinced me that this is the car I want…thanks Ted👏
I'm happy to be following along on the first of many road trips I'm sure you'll be taking in the future with this Type R
I must say, I envy your restraint. Over the 2000 miles I've driven it so far, I'm averaging 17.12 mpg :(
For my first 400 miles I averaged 18 mpg. I've seen a few posts on CZcams and on the forum mention getting close to 30 mpg so I've committed to raising my mpg for the last 300 miles and now I'm up to 24.5 mpg!
Just take a 1000 mile highway road trip and you'll be able to get 25 average over 2100 some miles, like I did. lol I don't know why I'm obsessed with trying to keep the mpg high either. That's not what the car is for!
Always great to see a new Tedward video, hope you having fun with the Type R
I always love watching your videos. Your commentary is always really calming, and I get the full driving experience in every video.
my word. these honda civic type r POV videos has to be one of the best unintentional honda advertisements ever. every thumbnail you just see a red honda badge lighting a fire in you; telling you to sell your current honda civic si and pay msrp for the last Type R.
🇬🇧 Thanks for giving us a little tour and some info on Downtown Portland, ME. Yes, I DO know my US State abbreviations ;) for somebody from England who has only been to Florida (FL) Twice in the last what 20 years now!
Your Civic Type R is looking & sounding really well Tom!
It's not a Tedward video if he doesn't rant about other drivers not knowing how to merge properly. I feel like I'm watching myself. 😎
Thanks for the road trip. My X3 E83 has been in the shop for the last 3 weeks and I'm jonesing for a drive a lot.
Portland is so fun! Spent a day there when visiting my gf in Maine and hope to be up there this summer. Cheers from the UK!
Thanks for these Type R Vlogs man!!!!!! Thanks!!! enjoying it!!!!
Never been any bit of a Honda fan, but the new type R seems like such a nice car! Looks great too! Nice video!
Hey Tedward, nice seeing you come to Maine. I have the first FL5 Type R registered in Maine (none were allotted to Maine by the time I got mine registered here after buying out of state and no one from the forums spoke about registering/staying in Maine, so I like to believe that mine is the first lol), but looks like you beat me to Portland! Same color as yours as well haha. Championship White for the win! As always great video and keep posting more Type R content!
Really feel you on the need to just jump into your car and GO places, I had pretty much the exact same revelation you explain here so I've been doing my research on good hiking places around the state and then hitting road on the weekends, bring my camera with me and take some pictures, just making sure to enjoy life as much as I can.
I'm so in love with the FL5... maybe by next year all the craziness dies down a bit and I can actually get one... and at somewhat of a reasonable markup. Thanks for the vids!
I’ve gone to Sebago Lake near Portland my entire life, and the comment about the bridge entering Maine is so accurate. That bridge was always the “its vacation time now” marker.
Im from michigan, i can agree its mostly flat. once you cross the bridge to the U.P its very beautiful and fun to drive. i got my permit last year and went on a trip with my family to Lake Superior, and let me tell you for my first road trip where im driving. IT WAS AWESOME. Love the vids
If there's one luck, we have here in europe about cars, is that in a 2.5 hours roadtrip, we can see a lot of scenery, a lot of curvy roads, and a lot of landmarks in that time span.
I think out of all the car channels I can relate to you the most. Now I just need to take more solo road trips!
I love your CTR videos! I can’t wait until the Integra type s comes out so you can review that as well!
I love your videos i would love to do stuff like drive with the type of cars you do please keep it up and cant wait to see your next video
Lmao your story telling during the drive was top notch, please do more of that 😂
I see Tedward I click
Love your channel Tedward, I'm in CT and hope to see you at a car show one day! Great vids
I will get this car soon. Thank you for the great video.
more roadtrips !!
great video tedward
Great video, safe travels! :)
LOL, I'm glad I'm not the only one who only uses my middle finger on the infotainment.
Tedward went to Portland Maine!? Right near my hometown of Sanford! Very cool to know that you like Portland too, such a beautiful city
I literally logged in to say that I appreciate your audio. I have near field monitors with accompanying sub so I really feel like I'm in the car.
Love Crafts, they always have so many interesting and fancy cars when I get my car washed there.
Damn, it sounds great 🤩❤️
the steering wheel oscillation is kind of a feature, not a bug. they purposely have it constantly moving in both directions to force you to keep your hand on the wheel, the swaying is just exacerbated by the wind. you raise a good point that it does not really seem to take wind into account, but that is just because its assumed your hands stay on the wheel. the assist motor is intentionally weak so it doesn't overpower/scare the user and only has about 10-15 degrees of movement before it taps out. a self driving car would just implement stronger motors and the swaying wouldn't be an issue.
The sound of that type r is therapeutic
Yes, tedward a lot of people are leaving MA bc of the COL issue.. portland sounds good. You should also do automotive consulting since you're knowledgeable about cars
the stretch of 95 from Boston to Maine is filled with crazy fast drivers
@@noname-yb5jt THIS. It's so annoying how someone doesn't follow the flow of traffic and remains on the far left lane 😒
@Pas _1118 70mph in southern Maine and 75 north of Old Town. I blow by cops doing 90 plus all the time they don't care. Seriously all please stay out of the left lane except to pass. There's signs that say that all over Maine highways.
Love seeing real Tedward on these long drive videos. I feel vindicated when I curse other drivers out while I drive.
Driver's licensing education and culture in North America needs to change for real. It's such a difficult topic because the culture here is that driving is a right and not a privilege, which I kinda get since the landmass is too big and public transportations are terrible. BUT, that means there should be an equal amount of emphasis on the education of new drivers and international drivers adjusting to the roads here.
"100-year-old lady who can only function after three martinis." LOL Never change Tedward.
Very good
The FL5 is one of the only modern cars I'd consider. I'm a big Honda fan and I think they did great. Just unfortunate that their dealers charge so much for greedy markups. Props to anyone who can get these close to MSRP, what a great car!
Who doesn't love a good road trip...especially in a awesome machine like the new Type R
People always complain about new cars and such but… man, seeing those windshield wipers with the fluid nozzles integrated? THAT’S technology and god I want it! 😂
Hi Tedward, thank you for your wonderful content! I wonder whether you’re planning to do a Mazda CX 30 Turbo (specifically) review. Would love to see your impressions of it, including its handling/performance. While it’s not trying to be a hot hatch and rather aims for the premium/luxury feel, it has quite an impressive performance, handling and so forth. And that’s despite having a rear torsion beam suspension and no LSD. It actually kind of rivals some of the hot hatches, to be completely honest and has even higher numbers than base line Macan, which is why I hear people calling it “mini Macan”. Obviously, you can’t compare it to Porsche but it is a car I love a lot. Anyway, sorry for encroaching on your CZcams space.
Watching you makes me wish I had ASUHP tires on my ride!
shoutout mass, hope one day i’ll see ya on the road 🙌🏼
So glad I can watch this cause I don’t have school today
I love the "Why have you chosen this lane? It's not for you..."
finnnallllllly someone gets it. they teach this method of merging when you do your permit courses, and no one does it; creates unnecessary traffic. what this youtuber stated is 100% correct
Went to school just outside Portland. Love that city
I live 20 mins from portland, it really is a great city.
11:07. The speed limit goes up to 75 north of Orono which is nice too. I went to college at UMaine but live in MA so this is a familiar route to me.
Portland Maine?! That’s by me!! Hope you enjoyed it!
I feel the same way about my Focus ST. That thing loves to speed lol. It is actually a pretty quick car up highway speeds. I can easily pass someone and accidentally hit 100mph. Love my ST!
I have a Civic Si now, but I've owned two Focus STs. It is such a great car. I wish I still had one.
@@andrewb325 they really are! I traded my old school SVT Focus five door for the ST. what a massive improvement!
Do you like having the airbag warning sticker there? Haha Glad you're enjoying your Type R. I've had a lot of fun with my FK8 and have no plans to get rid of it anytime soon.
OMG, coming into the Portland waterfront, you went by "Becky's". Great place for a slippery breakfast. Loved the video
Killer road trip is an understatement. Rough ride for sure. By the way it is ok to take sticker off glove box. Yes, Portland, ME is nice.
I just bought a 2004 Volvo S60R M66. Like the type R, my gears are so short I’m out of first gear at 10mph. I feel like it’s comparable to the type R and GR Corolla in terms of power and performance yet undercutting them in price. Good luck finding a manual one though as they are rare. Cheers!
15:53 Thanks to that guy we are going to have great rebulding series that will definently take at least 5 years to rebuild xD
can relate with not wanting to put a ton of miles on my car, though not because my SUV was particularly nice, but because it got about 20MPG on the highway if you were LUCKY. My elantra pushes almost 50mpg now and its so nice filling up every 3 weeks and spending $60-$70 instead of every week and a half spending $90
Good day! super! pro trip.have a good one.=)
Love civic content
They actually changed the license plate law a couple years ago, haha. Cool to see you driving through my city!
Around where I am most merge lanes are short, and some are stupidly short (because designers thought clover leafs can fit in mountains w/o making them tiny), and frequently you have to stop because there just isn't room to get over. Look at mm 105 I81 south VA
We need to get a New England Type R meetup going like the New Zealand one a few weeks ago
No idea what binaural audio is but my AirPods and i love it
I watch your videos all the time to see if I see myself in them 😂😂😂
you have a GREAT job as a youtuber. jealous
As a fellow Civic lover! I've owned a 2007 sport, a 2015 diesel and now a 2017 1.5L turbo sport. Thanks for the videos. Not yet owned a Type R but I do love to drive my Sport. The dealership wanted an extra £200 per month in the UK for the Type R. Wasn't in my budget, I'll own one someday. What's the yellow tag in the glove box? 🤔 never seen it before. Great channel!
1:22 they have those style of wheels on GTA Online, called Saisoku I think? There's also various Endo ones there that look similar too. Any small hot-hatch by Honda is automatically cool!
ETA: Small cars always suffer more from buffetting at speed - I thought the computer was doing a pretty good job at keeping you in your lane!
I also live in mass and I love that bridge because I go to Mane a lot
You should have stop in Portsmouth New Hampshire. Also Kittery the little town as soon as you cross the border from NH to ME. I lived there for the past 6 years.
I would love to just watch you ramble about stuff while driving this car for an hour or so.
Hey!! Love the car. I live in Portland. You should def move up here haha.
Have you had any experience with Mercedes Benz’s crosswind feature. If I recall it was back on the W221 series S classes.
I still haven't seen an FL5 on the road in NC, probably going to break my neck when I do lol. There's a decent car scene where I am, so no clue where they're hiding.
Between you and Topher...y'all are making me want a Type R BAD!!!!! Ready to give up the American Muscle life...maybe ;)
loooove to see 2nd gear hit 60+
Have you ever considered moving to New Hampshire? Nashua and Manchester are both decent cities and NH is way cheaper than Mass is and still have a lot of things to do in them. And as im sure you know, they both have a lot of dealerships and are within in hour of Boston
As a Michigander, I can confirm that driving around most of the state is boring but hey at least driving along Lakes is cool lol
love your type r videos! out of curiosity, has your infotainment system kind of freaked out yet? Mine sometimes gets this wild thing when on google maps that makes it seem like the screen is flickering/purple hues
I lkie this kind of road trip videos
Wow! I live in Portland with a white 10th gen Type R. Unfortunately, not a lot of good driving roads in the Portland area😢
I live in Yarmouth.. for something close by, there's a lot of remarkably quiet side roads in durham, north yarmouth, and New Gloucester. For better stuff I'd head out past Gorham, ME towards NH though.
My boy driving manual 🤝🤝🤝
The fact we both have the same name 🔥
You're on your way to Portland, Maine??? I'm 25 minutes from there :(( Wild dude
Good stuff! How's your experience with wheelspin or hop, how confident are you when you floor it in first and second? I took my GR Yaris on some twisty back roads today and it was absolutely phenomenal, held up super well and not one instance of tailfishing nor understeer nor wheel spin. Selling the yaris as i've ordered the FL5 but this front wheel drive thing is my main concern. Mind you i'm an ex fk8 owner and i didn't have the best rubber on that hence my anxieties. Thanks!
Welcome to Maine
Also I’m so torn between a Type R, and STI, or the new WRX!! It’s such a tough decision.
TEDWARDDD
They need pitot tubes and anemoters like on aircraft to measure wind speed and direction. Then you can have a self driving vehicle.
Honey wake up Tedward uploaded
