Finally, I broke it off like an adult would. Only to have him return after a week to instigate a conflict just so he can have the last say. Whatever. My ego is not that big to get a kick of having the last word. If it makes him better to believe that he hurt me, that it was he breaking up with me, well... fine. I just want peace. His promise was that he makes a wonderful friend. But friends are not cruel when the other can’t comply with a request. They try to understand. Instead he just got meaner, which I told him he was. I think that shocked him. He is famous, gorgeous and rich, but very superficial and cynical. He wants a true friend, or true love, but he won’t give anything of himself…..just charm. I’ve been crying for months. I wish I could just accept that a person can be perfect on the outside, but a fake and a mess on the inside. He needs another one like me, to wake him up. Because it wasn’t me…..and that’s what makes me sad. I had so much wisdom to offer, but he is a control freak, to hold himself together. this is exactly my case. your comment towards the end saying "the version of them you fell in love with actually was real, but one of their facets", it hit me deep. I always wanted to see that man in him that was there 3 years ago when we first met, but in our separation he lost everything and that changed him for worse. then, after all of it, he went back to an ex I heard about for the first time, called her his "girlfriend" when he shared a moment between them in which he mentioned me to her a couple years ago, saying "he met a wonderful woman" and that she called me a wh*re without even ever seeing me in person, and that was a huge red flag that he was still in contact with him after that. but he was. in the end he couldn't bare the triggering I caused in him and went out to start a relationship with that woman while still keeping me on the side. I ended things when I learned about these but this all started 180 degrees different and I sometimes can't bear the thought of losing a man I loved to such saddening events. I don't know what will happen, it's almost 5 months I'm completely solo and going my own way.
