    I was driving from Amsterdam to Wrocław (Poland) 1100km in 17h time. Bit long cause in Poland fast charging points are bit to far for Honda e, therefore lost some time there. However I love Germany for free fast charging points. So basically I spend 19€ in total for my 1100km trip 😎
    My record is 260km range!!! On highway 95km/h behind truck or camper 😁 12.3 kWh average consumption
    Love my Honda e

      I used to tuck in behind a bus when I cycled to work hitting 50kmh on the flat. Very dangerous but tremendous fun.

    Lol I love how when the E is braking with adaptive cruise control the little E graphic puts its brake lights on.

      I wish all cars would show this on their hud, especially when driving normally using high regen or e-pedal.

    OK, so that's what the odd creak in the LEAF is. The look on your son's face when you said you were going to run the battery right down, priceless.

    A lovely car in several ways, but it's definitely over-priced for the abysmal battery range. In the 2020's, people expect at least twice that Summer range nowadays.Belated thanks for the review, Ian. 🙂👍

      Agree, car is epic, range is not. If it did 200 real world miles I would have one all day long.

    Another brilliant video, Ian. Loving the series on the E. Something I’ve not seen covered in any reviews (certainly not ones I’ve watched)…what is the sound quality like from the stereo?

    For checking some of your E clips... I'm pretty sure you are stocked to get the Renault 5. It seems that the new Renault 5 will be everything the Honda E should have been when it was released, range wise at least. (I'm thinking of getting an used Honda E with 16,000 kms for 20k Eur... not sure yet but sounds about right the price for that range)

    • @IanSampsonRLO
      @IanSampsonRLO  Před 2 lety +1

      pretty much yes! It takes yonks
      to compile footage and a lot of money to
      produce the videos, youtube revenue return
      is a pittance (as in pence!) and as such I had
      to decide where to focus my energy…sadly
      this had to go. Doesnt mean I will never do
      another video, but this linked with low
      viewing numbers tied in with effort put in
      was the nail in the coffin!

      @@IanSampsonRLO yep I hear ya. I’ve managed to get my earnings up to $1 per day so I can buy a coffee a week on CZcams. :). It feels like anything more than just smashing out a quick unedited phone video for upload is just not worth it unless you’re one of the 1% of CZcamsrs.

    Thanks for the update. I think any range test of a car should be normal driving with heating and air con etc on. I think seeing how much you can get driving economically is a useful extra test to see how much extra you can eek out if things are getting tight. In the last two weeks I've done a couple of 200 mile plus motorway trips and being able to do an indicated 70 mph without worrying about range in my ICE car is something I couldn't have done in the Zoe (two charging stops on the last trip would have been needed unless I went down to truck speed in which case an hour stop would have been required). I really like the Honda E other than without more range and faster charging it wouldn't suit me, a pity because it seems to be a great motorway car from the actual driving perspective. I suspect recent car price rises mean you may have made money on the car. A VW Golf will also do the slamming on the brakes thing if you go into a parking space too fast for it's liking. I find it a little hard to understand why the Honda uses so much power per mile for such a small car.

    Thanks for that Ian , my 2021 model does not seem to have the window operation from the remote , there is no mention of it in the owners manual either . My summer range is around 125 miles . The car has done 7000 miles now .

  • @Azurren
    @Azurren Před 3 lety

    I don't know about EVs or the Honda E in particular but Mythbusters found that the aerodynamic drag of having the windows open actually uses more fuel than air conditioning (At highway speeds)
    Would be interesting to know if this is a quirk of the wasteful nature of ICE vehicles (using otherwise wasted energy to power the compressor) or if it also applies to EVs. Hard to find out without controlled test conditions though :3

    12:20 «Anyone can unlock the car”. Are you sure about that? Some cars have two stages of presence, so you’ll need to be right next to it to unlock, while presenting at further distance.

    Thanks for the video Ian - it's always helpful to know what real-world range an EV can achieve. SO.......10k miles eh? I guess the one thing we'd like to know is.......if you only had a family of 4, would you keep the Honda or the ZOE, if you had to ditch one of them ?

    McDonalds, yuk..... 100 miles oh joy! 1hr20 to refuel - don't give up the day job. This is never going to compete with my Mercedes SLK 350. I also have a 2006 Honda Civic with 178,000 on the clock and I think I prefer that. Further the Civic hasn't got too much of that Play Station type crud. Honda should bring out an EUC :-)

    Wow only 10k on a set of tires. You have to drive like and absolut hooligan or the alignment is off. My Focus have done 45k now and still have 4,5mm left so still plenty of life.

    • @conorlanders8401
      @conorlanders8401 Před 2 lety

      It's deceptively easy to burn through a set of tires, particularly front tires on a front wheel drive . I think on my old car I was averaging 7-8k miles max ( from new to mot failure level worn) on a set of front tires without trying. The rear tires on the other hand lasted 36k and still had plenty of tread but the casing gave up.

  • @macjim
    @macjim Před 3 lety +1

    That seems a rather low mileage for the tyres to be needing replacement…

    • @furtivedig

      DONT! Nightmare. When I get time I will be doing a video. Honestly, do not bother. Ideally find someone in real life that can recommend someone first hand. Maybe less of a national installer? But certainly someone you know/trust to recommend.

      That’s what I thought when the i3 came out. But consider this. Average U.K. driver mileage is 12k pa - driving everyday that’s 33 miles per day or if you only drive 5 out of 7 days it’s 48 miles per day. More than enough in the e. Obviously if you’re a heavy user or you have different needs it’s not an option but for most it’s fine. That’s before you consider additions of charging along the way - at home and at work etc. Things will only improve charging network wise. If you have the space to charge at home and drive less than 100 miles everyday don’t even give it a second thought.
