@@chim007azo Assassin's creed is a massive miss. Its not worth cracking packs for which means the value of sealed product is going to drop hard. Day of release you can already buy online and in store sub 275 a collectors box and its not worth it even at 200 a box. You will LOSE money on this set.
Don’t forget, AC is an Aftermath style booster product. Regular boxes have 24 packs with 7 cards each. Collector boxes have 12 packs with only 10 cards each. I don’t know if this will make the set more or less valuable, but between Aftermath being a failure and no one really caring about AC tie-ins there is going to be a lot of risk in this set.
There’s already a few big reprints. Something gets broken or becomes very useful in a big archetype in every set. Aftermath was not “rare” at all. If print run is this tight Showcase versions in CB’s will spike hard. Saying “no one cares” about AC is a silly underestimation same as non-fans have made for every IP. The game still sells a ton of copies if even 5% of those people end up buying a box that’s a huge influx.

Joking aside, over here in the old EU I just saw about 18% of the English collector boxes disappear from the market in the last 7h. They cheapest listed went from €220 to €250. There currently only about ~130 boxes still listed. The most expensive box listed this morning was under €300 and now it is €350. I wonder how this will develop further, but one thing is for certain it is interesting as ....!
Just when writing this post the cheapest box listed went from €250 to €270! Things are moving fast.

Thanks to Rudy informing patreons an hour early, I was able to get 10 boxes from gamestop for $279 each.
If you were a Gamestop Pro member you would have gotten them for $266 each instead of $280. A savings of $14 a box or $140 for ten boxes all for the cost of a $25 yearlong subscription that gives you a $5 monthly coupon for a value of $60.

AC IP is not worth what TCG shows. TCG is showing the underprint price. In other words, they could underprint blank cards and they'd have similar value. le sigh.
People thought Doctor Who wouldn’t sell. People said LotR couldn’t stay expensive without the 001. There wasn’t much Fallout excitement until orders were cut. I’m sure you’re right and this time the combination of collectibility and IP will crash.
@@chim007azo Fallout and Doctor Who only had "collector's boxes" available and LotR is one of the biggest and most influential IP of all time. Assassin's Creed is long past its prime and Ubisoft has been milking it for ages.
Whether or not it's still big enough to move product is unknown. It's trending kind of high now, but there's no telling if it will hold, climb or drop. It also has non-collector's packs available, but those are "aftermath style" mini-packs with fewer cards per pack. Rudy pumping it this hard also makes me doubt that it's going to hold out well, but AC isn't an IP I care about too much. I doubt I'll even remember writing this after I go to sleep.

IDon't know if this hype's growing in USA only. Anyway I'm from Italy, and here in EU I've been able to find collector boxes fo 225 euros shipped (that's approximately 240 U$ shipped)
I preordered a couple cases...
The set provides low power cards and smaller packs. Maybe 5 staples and 2-3 good commanders. AC has a massive fan base so it may sell anyways.

I think Wizards purposely holds back stock of these collector boxes up front. Maybe they release 25% of the actual print run, and then months later dump the remaining 75% on amazon to take advantage of inflated prices. Look at LOTR holiday collector box, was impossible to obtain for months, now wizards is selling it on amazon for $398 a box. I wouldn't be surprised if they dump fallout collector boxes on amazon in the future for $500+ a box. It doesn't make sense for wizards to pay massive licensing fees to these brands only to print an extremely small amount of collector boxes.
LotR was almost never impossible to obtain a few days here and there, nothing like months. The Amazon boogeyman just always has people shook.
I’ll let you in on a little secret, people who were buying boxes on TCGplayer for $390-400 when Amazon had them for $340 were having orders filled with boxes from Amazon 😮
@@chim007azo you're right, I definitely misspoke saying they were impossible to obtain for months lol. I meant that supply was nearly non existent for months, including eBay, etc. On eBay at any given time there were 2-3 up for auction and that was it. Then the past few weeks wizards starting selling them directly on Amazon for $330-400 per and I'm afraid that's what they are going to do for most collector boxes moving forward. I would not be surprised to see them sell fallout collector boxes on amazon in the next 6 months. It simply doesn't make sense for them to pay massive licensing fees for these IPs only to print an extremely small amount of product.

A 95% cut may seem crazy but it’s logical. You can only cut down to a box. If you cut the smallest orders 1st so everyone get something, stores that ordered 6 maybe get 2 only a 30% cut. Stores that ordered 12 get 3 or 4, a 67-70% cut. At a certain point if there’s not much left, the biggest orders will be hit the hardest unless distributors cancel instead of cutting orders.

The small card set always ends up with a ton of repeated cards over multiple packs and isn’t much fun to open. The last small set was pretty much universally hated so this set was expected to feel the same. It’s not even draftable by itself so stores would have to pair it with something not even meant to mesh with it to run a draft event.

This set will not do as well as Fallout long term in my opinion. I would wait for the Marvel cards guys, if you were gonna buy 2 boxes of this product just put that cash in a zip lock bag and wait for the marvel sets next year.
It’s apples to oranges outside of the print run. If 1 or 2 Mythics really pop off there’s not an endless supply of Commander decks to get the card in. This set could easily outperform Fallout especially in the long run as every new set has a chance to break one of the IP cards that won’t be reprinted.
@@chim007azo You're such a sucker. There's 0 chance this set 'outperforms' Fallout. Fallout had ~150 new cards and 175 reprints. Many with unique Fallout universe cartoon art that people covet. Assassin's Creed doesn't have that. Plus the set is like 70 new cards and 30 reprints. There are about 4 reprints worth anything and less than 10 reprints people care about. You'd be lucky to find 10 out of 70 cards that will be relevant from the new cards. So you're buying a box to chase 15 cards instead of 80-100 cards when you open Fallout. On top of that...the sheer quantity of cards you get in a box is different. Fallout box contains 150 cards, Assassin's creed box contains 100 cards. So even if Assassin's creed was WILDLY successful, at best it should be worth 66% of Fallout boxes, just from quantity of cards perspective. So best case scenario it should be worth $350. But it's so much worse than that, from timing, to lack of quality cards, to lack of interesting art, no commander decks. Assassin's Creed will be worth less than $150 by Christmas, and frankly, it really should be worth $100 per collector's box.

I don’t care about any universes beyond garbage and imagine it flops and I’m stuck with a set I hate because I was trying to flip it for maybe $100. I’d rather just buy 3-4 draft boxes and wait for those to age well

Seems like most of these universes beyond’s are going to be like this going forward. Even though the supply is TOO low, it’s probably never going to go back to the LotR numbers which seemed to definitely be higher, unless they have some crazy serialized cards.

The problem with the logic is there are not $700 worth of value in those Fallout Collector Boxes. So who would be dumb enough to buy them at that price? Same with Assassins' Creed. There is not enough value in today's magic packs/boxes EVEN WITH a cut in the print run to make this financially sound. Sorry man, but WotC and you have Jumped the Shark with these prices for packs that have worse odds than Vegas. As an example, I bought a MH3 pack at my LGS yesterday and pull a Thought-Knot Borderless... So I get a Mythic Borderless pull and it doesn't even cover HALF of the value of the pack. Magic Pricing is Broke. Singles for Life.

Whenever singles prices meet/exceed box price the boxes get opened not sold, box supply drops and price goes up, singles drop and there’s a proper disconnect again. Until there are no more boxes and you need a reprint. When print run is tight Fallout happens. Good luck getting a surge foil Vexing Radgull reprint anytime soon. On top of that cards with IP names might never get a reprint or at best a Universe Within reprint, keeping the originals rare basically forever.

So print runs have SUPPOSEDLY been cut…I like that, but what cards from these sets are top tier and part of the reserved list? None are reserve list??? So they will DEFINITELY be reprinted if the prices begins to go up. Furthermore, they will get reprinted with better art, better foiling, some will even become serialized in future sets. So tell me again how Fallout, Assassins Creed and anything else will be able to maintain their value if the best cards from those sets will have more desirable versions in future sets??? Wizards still needs to improve on collectibility despite some improvements they have made up to this point.
