    I just went to a short class on these tractors yesterday, we will be selling these shortly at Runnings in the Northeast. Looking forward to getting these out in the market. It's a veteran owned company that uses as much made in America products as it can and donates to Tunnel to Towers Foundation for every tractor sold.

    Competition is good and I like that Summit has joined the small tractor market in the US. I wish they were available at more locations, even within the US, but I would expect that to improve over time. I'm curious how well they'll hold up over time.

    As a retired farmer owner and also a certified CAT&CUMMINGS DIESEL MECHANIC I was never a fan of badges or color. I was a fan of acres per gallon! Had a friend and fellow farmer approach me late one spring and asked if I was caught up on my field work and in the same breath said he had fifty acres he needs to plow for beans.( soy ) Well the long and short of it he had a JD pulling four bottoms and I had a Case pulling four bottoms. We fueled up and hit the ground running at day break we finished up and fueled up again. He was shocked he used 37+ gallons and I used 19+ gallons and I plowed every round that he plowed!?!?
    On diesels engines nothing beats cubic inches! And the JD was turning about 2,300 RPMS and the Case about 1,900 RPMS. Bottom line was the Case was bigger cubic inches and didn't work as hard.
    When I sold the farm I had two Case diesels, one Massey diesel and one IH gas and they all served me well. Because nothing beats PMS!!!!!

    I've looked at them real close and the only thing that keeps me from pulling the trigger is no dealers. Other than that it's a very solid built tractor. I would need more info on parts availability, how close is it to get warranty work done and does summit just cover the warranties and does it have to be approved by Summit or do they solely depend on what shop will work on it. Good Works Tractors pushes these on his channel and has been putting the loaner he's got through the paces. He likes it!

    I really enjoyed today’s video!! To have a second cut looking at the summit machine is great to have. I really like the tractor! I saw some comments just now that really trash it for having of shore components but that falls totally on its face as EVERYTHING we buy now have foreign made parts in them period. Some folks are “glass 1/2 full types I guess. My interest in summit would be with a larger cab model in the future though…. But for now I like want I see… 👍🔥

    Howdy Brock! Yeah I know Courtney has been raving on the Summits over on Good Works Tractors. Be nice to watch it in the wild to see how it performs over time. A lot of great options - you can tell Summit put some thought into their standard options. If I were to get one and use it in the same capacity as my Mahindra 25hp the mirrors would give me pause... as I have a lot of trees on the property. I can see them getting pretty beat up real fast. At the end of my ballast box build part 2 video I show the damage I did to my hydraulic joystick thanks to a low limb. If Summit comes up with a model in the 40-55hp range I will take a real hard look at them. But right now, for the money and included options, I'm leaning towards getting the Rural King 55hp cab tractor. Not going to be buying for a bit so let's see what Summit comes out with. Thanks for sharing 🤠

    R14 tires, GWT has showcased them before, when the time comes, I will put them on my 1023E. All American made, as opposed to the Versa Turfs, which are partially Chinese made. You can also get a MSL loader on a 1 series Deere, but TTWT did some videos and it didn't seem to be a huge advantage, at least on the 1 series. They are a good addition to the 2 series though, as you already know.

    For a new homesteaders with less than 5 -10 acres for the money this is a great starter tractor. Then after 2-3 years you can always trade up to a 35-40 hp if you think you need bigger or better hydraulics . But most of these 25 hp tractors are very capable to do alot of work. Personally in this category I like the TYM, Kioti, Kubota, , John Deere in that order, as these dealers are all within 30 miles of my house. And they all have a pretty good service dept if needed. I know everybody that works in them except the Yanmar dealer but I've heard good reports on them. But money talks!

    Great video Brock. I'm glad someone other then Courtney did one. Growing up (and for 50 years)I was a huge fan of JD. I have watched a ton of videos about the 1025 and it seems that there has been a lot more issues with them since COVID hit. Of course this could simply be that more people that have issues are now posting them on the internet and there is not an actual increase in issues (who knows). I am intrigued by the Summit with it's feature set but naturally apprehensive as people would be with any new brand (dealer locations, where to get service, etc. and of course the BIG one - will they exist in 5 years). I know people that have TYM tractors and love them. I have also heard a lot of good things about RK. As far as people instantly shooting Summit down without much information I would chalk up to an extreme brand loyalist. The problem with being extremely loyal to one brand for 50 years or more is that companies change, their manufacturing locations change, their customer service changes, and so on. It's all based on money so the company that was so great in the 60's, 70's and/or 80's may not be the same company today. I look forward to seeing what happens with Summit.

    the biggest hurdle this brand of tractor is going to be dealership support. what good is a low priced tractor with a ton of options that other brands charge you for if you cannot get anyone to service/repair it ?. last but not least, the weight is a tad overboard for a compact tractor. i can safely haul my kubota b2100 with any attachment on my single axle trailer , and be well within my trailer axle weight limit, then again..i do not have loaded tires either ?, so this option for this tractor can be deleted if you wanted to lose some weight.

    If you want the largest, heaviest, and most lift capacity in the 25HP range, then go with the kioti CK2510 or the Branson 2515R (over 1000lb more lift capactiy). I don't have either one, but there is no comparison. These tractors are in the 35HP average range of lift on both FEL and 3point with other tractors.
    The Summit initially impressed me until I saw how the "independent" YT's were being sponsored to go on about being the "best in class". It's not. Good tractor? Probably. "Best" is subjective to whomever is making the statement.
    here is my comparison with the RK25

    Good luck on your new equipment! No matter the brand, they are still fun and can work!

      There are several positive things about Summit tractors, and those are the things I talked about. I would not put lift capacity on that list.
      As you mentioned, There are other brands that try to focus on having the highest lift capacity as their calling card. Summit has focused on other features. That’s what they advertise as their selling points.
      There are also some negatives with summit tractors, and I tried to point those out as well. I’m a very upbeat positive person so it’s hard for me to focus on negatives with anything I do. I just see the positives more than I see the negatives.
      You realize good work tractors is a tractor dealership right? I don’t think anyone watches his videos and thinks he is “independent” or unbiased…
      He earns his living, selling tractors and attachments. He has a deal with pretty much everything he shows, and in my mind that’s OK because basically everybody knows that. At least I assume they do because it seems pretty obvious that he is not unbiased
      Now, I think he does try to operate with integrity and show pros and cons. I am sponsored by some implement manufactures, and it’s difficult to give an honest opinion without appearing biased, because as you were saying, most of these companies, make a great product.
      So you talk about all the things you like about the company but that’s not the same as claiming they are better than any other company
      I’ve watched several of Courtney‘s videos about the summit tractors, and he points out some things that are unique or special about the brand, but I didn’t remember him describing it as the best Tractor in its class. Maybe he does but that’s not what I recall.
      They are definitely best in class at offering optional features as standard on an economy Tractor. That’s not the same as being all around the best, because how would you even define that. People are looking for different things.
      They are worst in class at having a dealer network
      I’m not affiliated with Summit and I wouldn’t even buy one right now but I highlighted the things that I do think are good about them
      As a CZcamsr, there are a couple things I try to avoid. One is calling out another CZcamsr in my video, even though Courtney just did that himself.
      another is posting links to my video in the comment section of someone else’s video. It doesn’t bother me, and in this case it was relevant, but in general that is not a good practice.
      Most CZcams channels have the comment filters set to block links so it won’t show up
      Thanks for watching and have a great day.

    The Summit has some nice features, what diesel engine is it running? I am sure that you guys are aware that all the JD tractors your talking about are made by Yahnmar correct? I started out with a 25 HP JD/Yahnmar and it was a great tractor and I grew to love the drive over deck for mounting. After 5 years with that tractor I upgraded to a Cub Cadet/Yahnmar thats 32 HP and its used virtually every day on our farm, just like the JD was. I do have a cab for the 32 HP I am using now and take the cab off in the summer for mowing and all the other tasks the tractor is used for. Blowing snow is a very big use in the winter here I also always have a bucket loader on my tractors and I have a 60" rear mounted blower on my tractor and seem to always use the Allied brand and they get used a lot. I will average 60 to 70 hours in the tractor moving snow every winter. The Summit sure does come with some features that would be nice like the rear hydraulics they are extra on all my tractors, the air ride seat is to tall for blowing snow it would hurt rear visibility, the mirrors are OK but I work in trees a lot and I think they would last about 10 minutes . I dont know what the self leveling feature is I have never heard of it? The summit frame and physical size is a bit smaller than I am used to and by the location of the fuel tank and the hydraulics lever a cab is not an option? For the right person I am sure it would be a very adequate tractor.

      @RockhillfarmYT  Před rokem

      I appreciate your thoughts on it. The summit is using a Mitsubishi engine
      Yanmar doesn’t “make” the Deere compact tractors although they used to.
      Yanmar does still make the engines for Deere compacts
      Self leveling loader is a game changer in my mind. Whatever tilt angle you have the bucket at it will stay at that relative angle while the loader goes up and down.
      You can still change the angle like normal but otherwise it will stay at the same angle
      I have videos about it

    JDQA weighs less, maximizing the small tractor's capabilities. I wish all other SCUT/CUT manufacturers would switch to JDQA.
    And the skid steer doesn't have 3 point arms, so it can't share rear attachments.
    To summarize, get the right tool for the job. That might be a heavy duty skid steer, that might be a multi purpose "swiss army knife" tractor, but each has its place. Not sure what skid steer attachments would be truly suitable for a small tractor

They pull the plug and this one batch is it. You now have an orphan with no dealer support. At least with some of the other rebranded tractors made by TYM for example you could potentially get parts or repair from one of the other brands made by them. Are there many Solis dealers (also built by ITL) in the USA?

  • @johnbarilovits3721

    John Deere's small tractor prices have gotten ridiculous because most people that buy them want the hydrostatic drive. Most people that buy them don't need a return on the investment and they just keep paying the higher prices. Can't blame JD for that and they are good machines with good resale value. I think they have cast aluminum transmission and rear end casings now which makes them lighter than the older models. That is one beef I have with JD about them. Kubota makes good machines but the engineering is not as refined as JDs and Yanmars. Mahindras are barely OK but have terrible resale value. My price considerations are: 1) For the high prices, I would not buy a compact or subcompact hydro JD. The gear-drive JDs are cheaper but not as convenient for loader work. 2) I would not buy a Kubota because I appreciate the more refined engineering of the JDs. 3) I would not buy a Mahindra because if I wanted to sell it used it wouldn't bring half it's purchase price after a year. 4) I would buy a Yanmar for sure but they are also pretty high priced and there are not many dealers. 5) I would consider the Summit line because of the price, which still is not that good for such sized machine but the standard equipment is all there if it has a differential lock. ..... So to conclude, I would like a smaller machine with a loader, so I will look at the Summit line. By the way, we have four JDs, a 4020, a 4320, a 4520, and a Z-trac 920 zero turn. Plus two 4400 combines and two old 45 combines. All are 50+ years old except the Z-trac. All are well engineered and incredibly reliable machines. Maybe if I get a Summit I could get some JD green and yellow paint to help it fit end here on the farm.

    I get a giggle out of guys who buy these cheaper tractors. They think because they saved money they got a better "deal". Wait until it breaks or you need service. Wait until your tractor is down 4-6 weeks waiting on parts. The very reason farmers buy certain brands, and the majority is Deere, is because down time is not acceptable. Deere and other good brands can get you up in running in a day. When your Summit breaks down, I hope buyers are stewing on that savings, while they wait weeks to get their tractor up and running again.
    I get it, some guys are watching their dollars, but most times a dollar saved today will cost ten next week.

    • @RockhillfarmYT
      @RockhillfarmYT  Před rokem

      Right, there are some good points there, but the other thing is a lot of people buy these 25 hp tractors and then only put 40 hours a year on them.
      Likelihood of breakdowns and wait time on parts are less of a concern if you just have it as a hobby machine and not something you earn a living with

    • @jamesw.3491
      @jamesw.3491 Před rokem

      @@RockhillfarmYT Maybe... Just sold a old Ford tractor to a guy the other day. His horse boarding facility bought a Kioti. Had less than 200 hours on it. It's been down for 3 months because the dealer can't figure out what is wrong with the regen system. Could have been anything else as well. Point being, I don't care how few hours someone puts on a tractor, it can/will go down at any point. How long do you want your 20+K tractor down?
      People don't buy these tractors to decorate a garage. Even when only putting a small amount of hours on a machine, they want it to use whenever they want. A break down or maintenance parts that take more than a couple of days is usually unacceptable to the owners. No one gives all that money for a tractor to NOT use it.
      All this considered, made it easy for my decision. In the end with zero percent APR, my Kubota is actually cheaper than one of those off brand tractors, AND I don't have too much worry about parts or service.

    • @Rch492
      @Rch492 Před rokem

      Absolutely, you all made reference to the tractors being serviced at the places they are sold after employee training. That is incorrect and IMO that would seem like a pretty sloppy service plan. I just don’t want people to watch this video and picture a tractor supply retail employee working on their tractor after “training”.
      Prior to the availability of the tractor in a particular area, Summit will contract with local businesses to provide a network of service. From what I understand approximately 50% of those contracted service entities thus far actually have mobile capabilities.
      I don’t want to speak in too much detail because I am not the expert. However as I mentioned earlier, Doug has a very detailed conversation with the American land man about the tractor and it’s service. It really sounds like the company is investing heavily into service. It seems as though they are very aware that the service aspect of the business will likely decide it’s fate.
      Looking forward to the future Summit Tractor reviews!
