    As a former owner of a condo at Ke Nani Kai (Unit 210), I fully agree with you about the wonders of the Ke Nani Kai condominium complex. It truly is wonderful. My wife and I bought our unit in 2016 or 2017. We sold it in 2019 after we purchased a house with something over 4,000 square feet. At that time we moved permanently to Molokai from the Mainland. I highly recommend Molokai as a wonderful place to live full time. The largest negative about fulltime living on Molokai is we're down to just one airline, Mokulele, that connects us with either Maui or Oahu (via direct flights). Shopping is limited here compared with Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the Big Island. The nicest thing about Molokai are the people. There isn't much I can say about Molokai that my wife and I don't love. I'm seventy-five. I plan to live on Molokai for the remainder of my life. Nice video! Thank you very much! Andy McKane, 28 December 2023, Maunaloa, Molokai, Hawaii.

    As a Kanaka Maoli. I don't really feel that the native Hawaiians want our island full of tourists. So please, if you are advertising don't advertise over population. Mahalo.

      It is not your island. No one owns the sky. No one owns the ocean. No one owns the land. We are here to be stewards of the earth.

      Those of us who so dearly love Molokai do not want to see Molokai become another overly developed island such as Oahu or much of Maui. On the other hand, as the former owner of a condo at Ke Nani Kai, and as a permanent full-time resident of Molokai since March 2019, I believe some degree of tourism is good for Molokai and also benefits the entire population of this "Friendly Island." And, believe me, Molokai is THE friendliest place I've ever lived. I'm seventy-five. I've lived from Maine to Florida and New York to Hawaii. In the almost five years since my wife and I moved full time to Molokai, we've not run into anyone here on Molokai who hasn't treated us with dignity and respect. The Hawaiian people are at their best on Molokai. Hawaii No Ka Oi! Andy McKane, 28 December 2023, Maunaloa, Molokai.@@thedude2782

    Great video! May I ask the location of the sunset shot toward the end of your video? Is that from this particular rental. What beach is that overlooking? Thanks!

    Great video Jesse. What type of buyer(s) should look into Molokai STRs? Is it a viable place for an investor looking for high COC or appreciation, or for those with a budget so tight that they don't have options in places like Maui, or for people who want to vacation on a secluded island with a little bit of income on the side?

    • @JesseGWald
      @JesseGWald  Před rokem +4

      Aloha Rahul. The rental income on Molokai is still much lower than Maui or the other major Hawaiian Islands due to less travelers which translates to lower occupancy rates and lower Nightly rates. Of course the purchase price is also much lower on Molokai, but I would like to see more data and consistency in occupancy rates before I would fully endorse this as an option for Buyers seeking strong rental income ROI. At this point, I think Molokai is a good option for Buyers that love visiting the island themselves and are comfortable with a bit of income on the side OR someone who is priced out of the other islands but still wants their slice of paradise in the island chain.

      As a former condo owner at KNK and now a homeowner on Molokai, I completely agree with Jesse's advice. My wife rented our condo (unit 210 at KNK) any time we were back on the Mainland. My wife, Debbie, was also on KNK's board of directors while we owned our condo. When we sold our condo after about three years of ownership, we sold it at something over what we paid for it and what we had put into it. Thus our ROI was on the favorable side. Hi Jesse, would you know what long term rentals go for in Kanaukakai? It seemed like there’s not much apartment buildings available for long term rentals but rather available for STRs. Was looking to invest in a abandoned apartment building in Molokai but not sure if ROI would be that great due to it being a small populated island. What are your thoughts?

      Hi Jessica. I’m not too familiar with long term rental ROI on Molokai. I typically work with short term rentals for my investor clients.

    Hello! A couple questions.
    What is internet like in these vacation rental properties?
    How fast are the speeds?
    Also, tourism isn't huge on this island, so how booked up do these condos get?
    Thanks!

    • @JesseGWald
      @JesseGWald  Před rokem

      Hi Wes. The internet is strong. I’ve never had any issues with connecting while I’m on Molokai. You are right, there isn’t a large tourism industry but the nicely renovated condos do Ok with rental income.

      As a former owner at KNK, I found the Internet speeds quite acceptable. I use the Internet every day. Here in Maunaloa on Molokai, now living in a house, my wife and I have 1 GB speed from our Hawaiian Telecom internet. (Ke Nani Kai was with Spectrum during our term of ownership there, 2016-2019.)
