They should paint the roofs white, increasingly drone shots have to be factored into buildings, even though theyre not visible from the ground (and it will still be in keeping with the masterpiece designs).
Certainly, but unfortunately the lack of maintenance on buildings facades has been a long time issue in Brazil.

They actually paint it rather frequently (every two years), but they wait for the rainy season to end to do it. It rains heavily for 6 months and stays dry for 6 months, give or take. The video is from may, when the rainy season is about to end. Since there are no roofs for some structures they take the load of the rain and the paint will peel easily. Bad planning there, for sure, but oh well.

Candango = the migrants who came from all over the country to build the city and live in it, in the late 1950's through the early 1960's

Interestingly, Lake Paranoa is man made created with streams. It is a good case study and example of what can be done in areas where there is water shortage if people do not build near lake as to not pollute the water.
Robert Hughes famously called Brasilia a "ceremonial slum infested with Volkswagens". This was in 1980. I don't know whether the rusting metal, the flaking concrete etc. has been fixed since then. I've never been there... :)

That's not the best way to call Brasilia (or any other city in the world) in the 80's, but guess it's not totally wrong, for sure back then the city was really on it's firsts steps. Lots of people from Brazil tried to go to brasilia that time seeking a better life, what caused the formation of a lot of illegal activities, since then there were a lot of measures taken trying to smooth the situation, summing up, they found a way to push those wishful people away from the downtown (really far away). But nowadays those assentments got really safe, and all'n all nice to live for cheaper rent. I live in brasilia and I really enjoy how modern and safe it is compared to the rest of the country, it's a really nice place to live or tourist.
Slum? Brasilia has some of the best living standards in Brazil. Even the former poor areas are better off. There are still poor regions, of course, but nowadays it's nowhere near a slum. The city was just 20 years old in the 80's so yeah, maybe that's the reason. Also, this video in no way represents the city. It shows just the government area.
Brazil went through a ban on imported cars through four decades and Volkswagen was the largest brand in the country back then, so Volkswagen was the dominant brand on the streets on the whole country for decades. In fact, even now, three decades after the end of that ban on imports, Volkswagen leads the market.
And about the city, back then it was still under construction. The official date of inauguration goes back to April 21th, 1960 but a good part of it was still being built through the following years and yes, even during the early '80s as the city was built over nowhere and the infraestructure was under development. A lot of people tried a life in the newrly made capital. Some succeded and some didn't and ended on crimes but that was the 80's and Brasília is far away from a slum. There are rish and poor neighborhoods in Brasília as it is just like anywhere else but saying the whole city is a "slum" aint right now, for sure wasn't back then neither

A small observation the Monumental Axis has its name because its on the Monumental scale. Monumental its not because of Monuments but because of the dimension relating to the collective. :)
For foreigners: Don't forget to visit the City Park, the Brasília Botanical Garden, the Pontão do Lago Sul, also the Dom Bosco church, in Asa Sul, during the day or at sunset because it is very beautiful, I also recommend visiting the Núcleo Bandeirante and Taguatinga, this is the "real" Brasília, there is the Brasilia culture, many people playing soccer, basketball or skateboarding. It's a shame that tourists always stay in the central part, where there are hotels, terraces and political buildings, which is obviously important, but no one lives there, they just work. Anyway, great video...

You could easily fix the problems...just make cheap housing and grounds in the neighbourhoods and people and live will come. But probably the politicians just don´t like that idea.

Bro Brasilia´s population is about 2 ,8 million. There are a lot of houses und families there. This footage showed only the politician area. Its how going to Waschington and see just Capitol and the White House.

A ideia era boa pois era uma tentativa do Brasil de ocupar os interiores, mas os danos que a mudança de capital trouxeram aqui pro Rio. A mudança do eixo de poder afastou os políticos da convivência com o povo.

Most capitals of the world have a special charm, something touristic that encourages you to buy a ticket with your family or friends and say: Let's go on vacation in this city. France has Paris, England has London, Argentina has Buenos Aires and Brazil has... Brasilia 🤢
There is no charm in this city, although some buildings were designed by one of the best architects in the world. There's no history, it's not touristy and it's all very bland. It's just a den of bandits, starting with the parliamentarians! The Capital of Brazil in the past was Rio de Janeiro. And that's where I should have stayed
I don't think Brasilia is pretty at all, but Brazil has better and way prettier places than Rio. Rio is a dangerous city and the people are very ugly. Nowdays you see more favelas than natural beauty.

not really, it isn't perfect but as someone who was born and grew up in Brasília, I must say it is a great city and it is great to drive or walk around

That's because despite the commendable efforts of the young lady, the areas where people actually live were not shown. These areas in Plano Piloto are really great, small town vibe and peaceful, all residential areas in there look like small parks. That does not apply to the whole city, of course, but she basically only showed the government area. This was a really bad way of showcasing the city.

I am from Brazil and Brasilia is the weirdest capital with horrible architecture, it is not even modern, it is just non sense, revolutionary aesthetic.
