The theft of a new car, opened with a radio key, is easier today than breaking into older type vehicles.
Thieves have specialized and even in 30 seconds are able to get inside the car, start the engine and drive away without raising any suspicion. How does this even happen?
Stealing a car on a "game boy"
Criminals have developed a method that uses devices similar to today's tablets or Nintendo-branded pocket consoles, which were popular until recently.
"Game boys-e" have a preloaded database of so-called service (factory) codes, which in normal situations allow you to open the car and start the engine, for example, if you lose your original car keys.
Unfortunately, access to the service codes has been gained by criminals, who today more resemble hackers than functioning car thieves in the traditional image.
The devices used in the procedure make it possible to steal a vehicle from anywhere and in a very short time. All the thieves have to do is select the appropriate make and model from a menu. After several seconds, the car is ready to go, as the "game boy" has simulated opening with the original key and enabled the engine to start.
Fortunately, we are not defenseless - even in the face of such modern theft methods.
TEKOM Technologia, a Radom-based company operating on the GPS vehicle monitoring market for years, has developed a solution to prevent "game boy" theft. The car is secured by the proprietary My CarSafety system.
Now anyone can protect and control their car
(fully remotely!) thanks to three simple steps:
- The owner contacts TEKOM, which, on a mutually agreed date, sends an installation team to the owner. Qualified specialists install the MyCar Safety system (consisting of a discreet GPS device hidden in the car and a CAN bus security device located elsewhere in the vehicle) in the vehicle.
- The owner sets a customized button combination known only to himself (e.g., three keys on the steering wheel). From now on, only this sequence allows the car's ignition to be unlocked.
- The car is secured. The MyCar Safety system effectively cuts off the car's ignition/gearbox
(depending on the model). No unauthorized person can start the engine. Even if thieves manage to get inside, they won't be able to start the car without knowing the personalized code.
And what about when servicing, returning the vehicle to the car wash or for cleaning? The system makes it convenient to temporarily disable the security features.
MyCar Safety users gain access to a convenient app. The tool helps remotely control the car's current location. It also has a number of other useful features.
In case of unusual events, such as towing, uncontrolled vehicle startup, or power disconnection - the app sends alerts.
The system is e20-approved and has an Anti-theft Evaluation Certificate in the highest EXTRA class.
