Just yesterday i played with my friends sakura d3 drift, of course belt driven and just by looking under the hood i knew this one's gonna be tough to maintenance before i saw this vid. Yeah maybe drive shafts kits are more me
So i just found this kit on my local hobby shop. SNRC DT2 it's belt driven chassis.. but.. it's for rally use😅. I know xv01 is belt driven too but this snrc belt doesn't have a cover. What a weird kit
i wish someone would do a video explaining the difference in placement of the motor with the belt driven cars. i have looked all over and no one can explain which is sbetter

Would you say that a belted car, has less of a snap from the motor to the wheels because the belt has flex and smooths that out, a bit like a modern dual mass flywheel does,where it stops the engine pulsing to the drive train, and say a solid drive shaft is like and old friction and pressure plate clutch where it does not stop the engine pulsing through the drive train. So with that kind of set up with a dive shaft car, you get this constant power snatching when your on an off the power. I am guessing that is why a belted driven car is smoother through the corners, in fact even on the straights as power transition is way smoother when power is applied. If that is the case would it be smoother on braking as well? But would it make braking hard to get the back end to snap out and slide a a lot harder? I know from when i used to race full size cars, that some times you would use very quick snapping on brakes and gears depending on a corner you were coming up on the break the back end of the car. I used to run a group 4 Mk1 escort if you were wondering. Been out of the rc car thing for quite a few years and all the cars i owned back then were drive shaft driven, although there were belt driven cars back then, they never seamed very popular , fast forward 35 years (yeh i know showing my age now haha) a lot has changed. What i am wanting to build is a rally car for rc rally running, don`t know if you have heard of it or not? where you run after the car on a unknown course in some cases and drive the car just like you would a full size one. So trying to figure out what car might be the best for that? belt or drive shaft. I was looking at the tamiya XV-01 chassis which ticks a lot of the box for a belt driven car or a LC Racing - PTG-2 - 1/10th 4wd rally car rolling chassis, which also ticks a lot of boxes too. So kinda not sure which way to go at the moment. Any info on how the car reacts with power on and off through the corners with both set ups (belt or drive shaft) or anything else you think might be helpful would be appreciated. Or better still, a video with a small track with some turns and slow motion shots would be very helpful. As we can see what the car is doing, as far as wheel tramp and power transfer. Belt drive has the potential to be more aerodynamic due to the more compact differentials. With that said I prefer shaft drive...
