  • Huge 24" Dovii!!! Need I say more! For those that don't know, the Washington D.C. National Zoo has in indoor jungle called the Amazonia Exhibit. It's absolutely amazing! The best part for me and all of us cichlid enthusiasts is that it is stocked with Parachromis dovii. Someone threw some babies over 10 years ago and now they are are thriving. I don't know why they never took them out but it sure is exciting to see some of your fish grow to their maximum potential.

      Thanks! This dovii is at Richards fish store in Greenbelt Plaza now. Richard'll lie and tell you that he imported it but don't believe him cause he got it from the National Zoo. He's trying to get $1000 for him. YBK's G3 is the brother to this monster in the video. YBK's G3 is now T.F.P.'s G3, "Yes!!!" Here is a video when he was YBK's G3 check him out at this link ( czcams.com/video/LncCfxZ6FqM/video.html ).

    what type of fish is the one you have at 0:28? I've had one of those for a year and recently his fins changed color to red but don't have a clue what it is!!!

      +Alma Amezcua Hy thanks for the question. The fish at 0:28 is a female Cichlasoma dovii. Here's a link if you interested in learning a little more about Cichlasoma dove, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parachromis_dovii . Thanks for watching my video.

  • @MrWesleymoon

    Gigantic ? Lol just to think if you think this fish is big what would you think of the 12ft hammer head shark I caught last year.

      Why would you compare a member of the Sphyrnidae family with one of the Cichlidae family? Evolution dictated the size of the Parachromis Dovii to be below 12 feet because it would be very hard to sustain such size being a freshwater piscivore native to freshwater lakes and rivers of Central America. Compare that to any Sphyrna sp. that live in the ocean which is more than capable of sustaining various species of predators that can attain 12 feet or larger. They say this P Dovii is huge because they rarely reach 24+ inches in captivity (This is not always true as "Guapote Mel" has proven with his huge Dovii).

    Sorry, 24 inches is 2 feet and that fish is 100% NOT 2 feet long. MAYBE 16 inches

    So many claims on the Tube of 24" C. dovii. All are in the 16" size they usually get in Aqauriums. Might be some 24-30's in Central American streams...

      @thefishproject  Před 6 lety

      Hey Stan, yeah I hear you. It's hard to believe when people make claims about large dovii but this dovii was gigantic. He was in the Amazonian Exhibit at the National Zoo in Washington D.C. since about the year 2000. He was thrown in there as a fry and 14 years later this is what he turned into. Thanks for stopping bye and thanks for you comment.
