- Hailing from upstate New York, Sean Rowe has emerged in the last several years as an utterly unique and compelling singer, songwriter and interpreter of others’ songs. His rich and resonant baritone works equally well on deep blues and emotional folk ballads, and his straightforward guitar style shows the influence of everyone from John Lee Hooker to Johnny Cash. When he stopped by AG’s offices for a Session, he offered a stunning trifecta of tunes: the blues-soaked “Shine My Diamond Ring,” the haunting “Madman” (both from his superb 2014 album, Madman); and a moving version of the Sade song “By Your Side,” taken from Rowe’s powerful 2015 EP, Her Songs, which consists of cover versions of tunes by a half-dozen contemporary women songwriters, including Cat Power, Neko Case, Regina Spektor, Lucinda Williams, and Feist.

Sean, you play this song like you’ll never let go of that guitar. Your voice is the raft carrying us over the rapids. Another powerful performance by Troy New York’s favorite son.
If I could sing and play guitar like this, this is exactly how I would sing and play guitar.
This man is a complete gift to anyone who appreciates American folk or Blues music. Pure, unadulterated brilliance in it's composure & delivery. Thank you Sean.
Got to know him via The Accountant, will see him in 3 Weeks in Amsterdam, LEGIT!
Sean man, recently I've listened to every version of 1952 Vincent I can find a thousand times over, Richards classic, Del McCoury .. the song really hit me hard. But I had to wake Jess up in the middle of the night to share your video. You took a great song and made it even better - then I hear you say R L Burnside, bro listening to you both jamming makes life worth living - just wanted to say thank you
the listening ritual: 2x the listening gains me 10x a day's worth of satisfaction. music like a mountaineer's boot black alpine morning coffee.
Best version of 1952 Vincent Black Lightning ever.
Please more Sean Rowe, cites R L Burnside omg a man after my own heart

Sean, I really dig that first song and the strumming pattern!
You should see him live. He's a fuckin magician. He uses various different tricks to mute/distort his sound. Very percussive. And that voice fuckin BOOMS!
Then this interviewer says very percussive. Haha
Talking to myself
"Let a Walnut tree replace me, give my body back to the birds."
Damn son !!
got to come to Pittsburgh, Pa.
Drop D tuning?
what's that thing covering his guitar sound hole?
Tudor Ionel A humbucker pick up
He explains it in the video-he had a guitar tech install an electric guitar humbucker pickup in an acoustic guitar feedback suppressor. He combines that signal with a standard acoustic guitar pickup to get his sound.

I wonder how many times you get your beard hair caught in your harmonica? I only had a little bit under my bottom lip, but it used to get caught, gave me the shits so I shaved it off. I don't know what's going on in the world with all these bushman beards!
