  • Well, Matt has done it again… Bought something he didn’t need. This time it’s a barn find lawn tractor in unknown condition. The only reason this caught his eye was the 2 cylinder Briggs and Stratton 18hp opposed twin powerplant sitting in the old beast. After hauling it out of storage, he got to work attempting to get it running. It won’t start, obviously, until some basic repairs are performed. First the Briggs starter was fixed, because it was seized solid. Next, the carb was rebuilt and some weird finding were made regarding the original B&S fuel pump as well as a second Mikuni that was installed for an unknown reason. After some adjustments, the 18 hp engine came to life after many years of being abandoned.
    If you enjoy DIY repair videos of old, antique and vintage equipment, you have come to the right place.

    Dude! I've been looking for one of those tractors forever! I had one when I was really young and it was the best damn tractor ever!
    I would cruise around the neighborhood hauling a trailer full of neighborhood kids.

    I have one almost just like that, but I had a hood Mines a long flight With a 16 horse I Had another Mower that had a broken transmission but a good engine and 16 horse that was in. It was bad but the one with the snap transmission had a good 14.5 Briggs & Stratton engine and I put it in a the lawn flight.

      @mattsws  Před 8 měsíci

      I guess the square headlights are a little more recent??? I find 18hp hydro is more than enough to mow quickly and efficiently. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment. Take care!

    Love these Briggs opposed twins. Have one in a John Deere 116, pulley swapped geared transmission. Still working out the kinks but it seems like it should be good for 30mph!

      I love them too!!! This one burns oil and was obviously neglected in its life, but starts right up everytime!!! Thanks for the comments and thanks for watching!

    Welcome back love to watch your stuff, that looks like maybe Cub Cadet yellow to me. Down here at least, Yardman tractors are I thought mostly yellow and green. Great job as always Matt great to hear from you!

      Yeah, it was repainted cub cadet yellow at some point, but seems orange underneath. Funny you mention green, the frame is green!!! Glad you enjoy my vids. Thanks for watching!!!
