This would have been much more enjoyable if it were properly staged. It is so distracting having an orchestra playing behind the action. The singers can perform it so it is not a concert version. Trouble is orchestras like being the main attraction and do not enjoy playing in the pit and being, sorry about the pun, second fiddle. Orchestras have enough works in which to show off. l'Heure espanole is a comedy opera of great charm res and deserves proper staging. It is not as though a theatre was not available on the occasion.
