One of my early childhood memory ,Dad was borrowing one of these from a friend of his to take us with my mom to lake Balaton or it might have been the Hèvíz hotspring lake nearby for a day trip i was hunkering down above the engine in that small covered area and there was a policeman appearing and my folks have been throwing towels over me to hide me since it was only a two seater to avoid being fined this must have been around the late 60's

In 1945 he had a "tricycle" patented under the name "Motor tricycle" and in 1947 he was already producing tricycles for those interested under the name Os-kar (cart on the axle). The disabled were particularly interested (the cooperative of the disabled supported production), pensioners and young people. In 1956, the name Os-kar was changed to Velorex (King of Wheels). The communist system subsequently removed the designer Mojmír Stránský from the events surrounding this cheap means of transport...

I have a Velorex - trust me the door is about the least dangerous thing on them :-) In any case the hinge is not the problem, the catch is .
