  • In April 2012 we chartered a boat out of Eastbourne in search of the old king cod. Deep Blue Charters had just broken the record for the biggest rod-caught cod in the English Channel with a fish weighing in at 43lb. To help us out we have a couple of local professional sea anglers and a few friends including Tim Pilbeam and Dom Holtam.

I have a small boat so I can only get about 3 mile away from folkestone to channel. Can I do same techniques to catch a fish or I have to be realy far in to channel such as 10 or 15 mile away from folkestone?

Hi Tim. What is the rod that you were using? Can be clearly seen at 7.58 in the video. A great video to watch and inspire.

Nice to see you not giving a care to Cod and Pollock stocks in the sea well done. Should chuck a few back and take a couple home and then enjoy the day. That's what I do and its call letting them breed and live for another day. As if we all carry on the same way as this lot did then no more fishes for those who enjoy the sport.

Shut up mate we catch them the right way it's all the trawlers that have fucked everything up

alex hinchcliffe Yeh really good at letting some go back to the sea. Nice to see that you really care for the environment of the sea. Well done. Keep on killing them and we end up with nothing. your are such a reasonable fisherman. Have a look at TAFishing on youtube to learn how to release them back to sea. Really good you may learn something new or not as the case may be as you a such a responsible fisherman.

The cod in UK are tiny in comparison to Norway, wont get much with those massive lures in UK waters.
